Today my first ever review book arrived in the post. It certainly looks like something I'm going to enjoy, and caught my eye with a fantastic cover as I brought it out of the packaging. A little comment in the front page saying 'Thank you for volunteering your time, hope it's worth it,' and signed, was an added bonus. Anyway I'm putting The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters on hold to read this book and get my thoughts back as quick as possible.

9987 by Nik Jones.

The shop is everything to him - always neat and tidy, safe and reliable, the rental DVDs carefully categorised, alphabetised and memorised.

He thinks he knows his customers, until the bloodstains begin to appear - on grubby banknotes, on porn DVDs and on the shops fresh new carpet.

Then the girl comes into his life, green eyes and fresh scarlet slashed between her thin cotton blouse. He wants to rescue and protect her. He wants to be with her. Forever.

Looks good.

I love the Bartimaeus trilogy .. I've read them and re-read them and it's an anathema to me why they're not more well known and loved (I see that Miramax bought the film rights in 2002!! .. what on earth are they taking their time about?). I'd love to see these books on film .. as long as they were done sympathetically.

I've also read 'Heroes of the Valley' by Jonathan Stroud .. I liked it quite a lot but I didn't love it like the Bartimaeous books.

I heard an interview with Jonathan recently where he talked about writing a prequel to the Bartimaeous trilogy .. I can't wait for that.

I love them as well, and have read them several times. I really do hope they think about making them into a film, that would be wonderful if they did them well. I was meaning to get my hands on 'Heroes of the Valley' by Jonathan at some point, and still haven't got around to reading it yet. Ohh a prequel sounds good, I wonder what that would entail. Got me quite excited now.

Okay, I see you're reading Inkheart, how are you finding that?

Yeah, I bought Inkdeath today - the last in the trilogy and I'm going to put aside The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters. I'm really not in the mood for it at the moment.. So yeah. I'm moving onto Inkdeath and I'm sure I'll fly through it. The final

Right, tomorrow, when I get up, I'm getting started on Inkdeath. I've been disappointing the last few days, concentrating on online games more than anything else. As of today I've made a pledge to concentrate really hard in A Levels, read more and try to start writing again.

Oooooh Eldest is on my 'to buy' list after finishing Eragon. I was in Waterstones yesterday and actually had it in my hands but I think I'm going to look around the second hand book shops first

Good haul Ben!

You've come to the wrong place if you're expecting someone here to tell you off for buying books!

I'm also reading the House of Night series at the moment, so I'm even less likely to reprimand you, Ben. Enjoy! :D

I haven't even read the first one - oh the shame. However I've anticipated enjoying it, therefore buying the next one. It gets worse..

Hah, you have a good point!

I really enjoyed the House of Night novels at first, then thought it was getting repetitive towards the end of the third book. However, judged on Lexi's review of the fourth, I'm persevering with the rest of the series.

The first one is pretty good and didn't take too long to get through either  Think I gave it a 7/10....or 7.5 out of 10.

I also second Chesilbeach.....I don't think anyone here would tell you off for buying books :D

Well that's not a bad rating, maybe I'll push it up the pile. And of course you won't, but I tried nevertheless. Thought someone may attempt to remind me that I should stop buying and do more reading.

No I've started it and I'm about 200 pages in. It's really catching my attention and starting to hot up nicely. Long reading weekend and it should be finished.
