GsdSheba Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 An Ed Mcbain book whilst sitting in Ibiza airport waiting for my plane which was 10 hours late Quote
BookBee8 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I'm getting less and less time with exams coming up, so barely getting chance to read anything more than a chapter or two per sitting. Me too. Quote
poetsquill Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I read Nam by D Steal in one sitting and a good few more, i read the Hp's in two sittings and a few others. PQ Quote
Wilde Lily Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 With four kids in the house I rarely have time to read the whole newspaper at one time, let alone a whole book, but I did stay up all night reading Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. I simply lost track of time I was so absorbed in the story. Quote
tonyf Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Last book I read in one go was Day of the Jackal by Frederick Forsyth. That was way back in 1988. I was in a hotel in Quetta and it was near New Year. Quote
Lucybird Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I'm sure I have at some point, just can't remember. I could have read Beedle the Bard in one sitting easily but forced myself to make it last a bit longer Quote
Mac Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I have, but only once. It was during the summer of 2004 and I woke one morning and sat down in my favourite 'reading' chair with a cup of tea and 'The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nighttime' at 8am. I finished it before I went to bed. Obviously, I had food, drink and breaks, and I was single at the time, so this self indulgence could have no negative impact upon anyone else. Great book. Quote

I'm going to have to read that book. I think I'm the only person on the face of the earth who hasn't. Quote
Mac Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 It's possible, Liz. I believe that even a core group of dolphins have read it, so you'll need to gem up on it, pronto. I think there's only you and I communicating at the moment. Have you cheered up yet, or are you still feeling icky? Quote

Kylie Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I'm going to have to read that book. I think I'm the only person on the face of the earth who hasn't. No, you're not. I haven't read it either, although it's very high on my wish list! Quote
Ben Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 No, you're not. I haven't read it either, although it's very high on my wish list! I haven't either! Quote
Rawr Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I heard of it a couple of years ago but have not read it either yet! And to answer ze question, i've read a few books in one sitting, usually involving them being finished as the sun rises haha. Quote
sth202 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I've never managed it, although mum seems to all the time! Apparently I read quite slowly, although I didn't actually think I did! Quote
frankie Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I'm sure I've read books in one sitting in my youth, but I don't recall reading anything without at least one break in my "adult" years. Not until now anyway; I just read Greg Kincaid's A Dog Named Christmas in one sitting. A very quick read. Quote
Bakey Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Almost. I went to ythe library and got If Nobody Speaks Of Remarkable Things by Jon McGregor to take on holiday. I started it when I got home and didn't think much of it at first but after about 30 pages I was hooked. I carried on reading while I cooked the tea but then stopped because of other things I had to do. Once the children were in bed I sat on the sofa and didn't get up again until I'd finished it. I read it for the second time last year and enjoyed it then as well. Quote
Genevieve Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 I have never read any book of great t hickness in one sitting. No, not with my bladder. Quote
Colin Jacobs Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 You are allowed to go to the loo, perhaps we should have rules as to what one sitting is Quote
sixtyfoothigh Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 You are allowed to go to the loo, perhaps we should have rules as to what one sitting is Take the book with you to the loo I say I read all the Harry Potter books in one sitting. (One sitting per book, not all 7 in one go!) S x Quote
Genevieve Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 How humourous you two are. In my family it is considered the grande embarresment to even admit you visit the toilet with a book. That is why I sometimes look a tiny bit pregnant in a squareish or rectangular fashion. Even then, I would be afraid yes of getting the hemmoroids! Quote
Guest Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Not so much now, but few that i remember are......... The Bone Collector - Jeffrey Deaver. Read all his other books since. Watchers - Dean Koontz Five People you meet in Heaven - Mitch Albom. OK book, quick read Master of the Game - Sidney Sheldon. Not normally the type of book I read but i picked it up on holiday and sat around the pool most of the day until I finished it. I've read a lot more, not in one sitting but over a day and sometimes night. Quote
DarkangelxO Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 pretty much every book i have i read in 1/2/3 days i know sad =P Quote
Kate Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I read Life on the Refrigator Door last night in one sitting. Quote
avid_reader Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid. The character's story was so compelling that I was a bit disappointed that I'd read it all at once! Quote
