chesilbeach Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Frankenweenie - good stuff. Edited August 17, 2013 by chesilbeach
Cookie Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) Watched Kick Ass 2, can't believe it was only a 15. Very good though, I loved the first one too. Edited August 18, 2013 by Cookie
Kylie Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Super Size Me - probably shouldn't have eaten Maccas right before I watched it.
Sakura Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I watched Ace Attorney yesterday (the movie to the video game). It's a very Japanese film, but pretty accurate to the game and quite fun to watch.
Raven Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises (over the last few nights). It's the first time I've seen the latter and I found it a bit of an anti-climax after The Dark Knight (it didn't hold together very well and it all seemed a bit half-arsed). Overall, I think I'd score the films 4, 5 and 3½.
Athena Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) ^ I have to agree on that, Raven. We saw a few Studio Ghibli films and a Futurama film, Bender's Big Score. I believe that's all the films we saw during our holidays in the UK. I really enjoyed all of them. We went to the cinema twice, once to see Monsters University and once to see Dispicable Me 2. I liked both but thought Dispicable Me 2 was a bit childish and over the top at times, overall I prefer Monsters University (that was excellent). Edited August 19, 2013 by Athena
dex Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 (edited) I've just watched 2 guns and it was Great. Denzel and Mark were funny and Olomos and Bill Paxton were good too. Great Casting. Edited August 20, 2013 by dex
Snowla Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Confessions. A japanese film directed by Tetsuya Nakashima. It's a great genre film. I've read the confessions book before and its really a great story.
Little Pixie Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Tokyo Sonata - Japanese film, in which a businessman loses his job and hides it from his family. Not bad, but the second half seemed too different in tone to the first half.
Sofia Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Scary Movie 5. I really need to stop watching crap movies
dex Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I just watched Elysium it was quite good, apart from Jodie Fosters and the (No Hitting) Sairth Africairn bad guys accent. (someone at work said, star trek script.) but then as everyone knows, There are no original stories.
Karsa Orlong Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 The Man With Two Brains. Hadn't seen it for years. Still Steve Martin's funniest film, imo (when he was funny!).
Kylie Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I don't think I've ever watched that all the way through, Steve. Must add it to my list. I've always loved him (and Chevy Chase and Martin Short) in The Three Amigos. And Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was an old fave as well.
pontalba Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 The Grandmaster with Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi. It is a Wong Kar Wei film. Fantastic!
Karsa Orlong Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 The Philadelphia Experiment (2012 remake). It was okay.
Cookie Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Watched We're the Millers yesterday and really enjoyed it.
chesilbeach Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) Watched one of my absolute favourites yesterday, The Philadelphia Story (plus the last hour again on the +1 channel! ), and this afternoon 10 Things I Hate About You and Shakespeare in Love were on in the background while I was doing other things, but was able to keep up with them, and look up at the good bits. ) Edited September 1, 2013 by chesilbeach
Michelle Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 We watched Looper yesterday, not overly impressed, and if you think about the time travel aspect, it all falls apart.. as it does with most time travel films!
poppy Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Watched Lincoln. Thought it was excellent. I knew next to nothing about Lincoln but Daniel Day Lewis portrayed him exactly as I imagined he'd be. I loved how witty Lincoln was and his great sense of humour. He wasn't above a bit of bribery to get his abolition of slavery bill through and his background as a lawyer certainly helped. I liked him very much as a person and he reminded me somewhat of Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird.
