Timstar Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I Love you, Philip Morris. I really enjoyed it! Very funny and moving. A great life to make a film of.
Nollaig Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Warm Bodies in the cinema yesterday. Absolutely loved it, very funny and sweet little film.
Kylie Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I wish there was a 'Love' button for your post, Raven.
bree Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 The Name of the Rose Really liked it. Haven't read the book yet though!
Raven Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Warm Bodies in the cinema yesterday. Absolutely loved it . . . Nice, but what film did you go and see? Enigma A healthy slice of wartime spy action that whilst not being as good as the book, at least makes a good fist of it. Kate Winslet being in it helps lots too.
Nollaig Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Nice, but what film did you go and see? Oh Raven, you cheeky thing..!
frankie Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 Shallow Hal. I haven't seen it in a long time, I love this film
Peacefield Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 I saw Skyfall too! For the first time I really liked it, although I am a bit exhausted after watching
poppy Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Capote What did you think of it bree? I watched The Rum Diary last night. It felt rather disjointed, OK but not memorable.
Karsa Orlong Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Battleship. Well I've seen worse films based on games. That's not saying much, though. The Darkest Hour. Mildly diverting alien invasion tale set in Moscow. Rubbish acting but it took great pleasure in killing most of the characters
Timstar Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Not technically a film... but I watched The Stand mini-series. At 6 hours long they still had to cut a significant portion out and unfortunately this was mostly the characterisation that made the book so brilliant. As well as some poor casting choices and a low budget it had no chance of living up to the book. The script was written by Stephen King, so what was there was a good adaptation. but it would definitely benefit from a HBO (or similar) series being made.
itsmeagain Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Cloud atlas, very good but too long, good idea, but it is very hard to follow and also there`s way too much gore and violence in it.
risingdawn Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Watched a bit of The Princess Diaries on Sunday before the channel got switched to athletics...
vodkafan Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Went to the cinema to watch Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Complete utter rubbish.
Karsa Orlong Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. Complete utter rubbish. I'm shocked
Athena Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 I rewatched The Time Traveller's Wife, great film, though I think the book's better (but that's the case most of the time, isn't it ).
Raven Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Sideways Yes, again, but only becuase I got the Blu-ray release this week (the gag reel on it has a couple of excellent jokes, btw).
risingdawn Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Watching The Last Mimzy right now. I love this film.
Ben Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 Watched LOTR: The Return of the King last night, all 192 glorious minutes. Still great.
supergran71 Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 I don't know if this counts in this section, but did anyone watch Dancing on the Edge on BBC2 which concluded last week. It was about the rise of jazz music in the 30s but also had themes of racial prejudice running through it and its consequences. I found it rivetting and really enjoyed the music and themes running through the acting.
