Devi
How are you doing, Devi? I'm doing okay despite the down time. christmas spirit helps. Merry Christmas all! Its the day after here and I am going to boxing day sales for the first time ever to spend some christmas money (similar to black friday in the US, unsure of equivalent in UK, or even if you guys/gals have one). I got lots and lots of books, 11 in total. One is a cook book. Have a fun day/evening everyone.
Brian.
We have post Christmas sales in the UK Devi, they used to be geared around the new year and were called the January sales. More and more the sales have moved to boxing day as companies compete for the business.
Signor Finzione
Congrats on the books and have fun with the sales, Devi! We have Boxing Day sales here to the point of silliness - my sister-in-law goes to queue up at Next (expensive clothes shop) at 4.30am every year! I hope you enjoy the Boxing Day sales, Devi ! 11 books sounds awesome. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I got what I was looking for and at a bargain! I shall write up a list of what titles I got when I can. Still resting up from all the running around and socialising over december. I usually take a week or two to recoup. Christmas is exhausting isn't it? ... it should be followed by a national holiday where we can all recover and detox Looking forward to seeing those titles Couldn't go to the shops yesterday as was at my cousin's but will be there today looking for bargains. Some of the shops had sales even earlier than Boxing Day .. and though it's tremendously helpful if you still need to buy bits for Christmas there's something a bit dispiriting about it when you see all the big red sale signs everywhere. It's almost like the January blues have come early. Still .. I'm up for some bargains of course

I had money/giftcards on my christmas list this year, reason being i wanted to do the boxing day sales. I bought a cook book and some went towards my food processer. Devi
I got a food processor that has a juice maker, blender, mini chopper (for spices etc) and a normal 2ltr jug for food processing. Comes with three different blades for different purposes. I got one to help me out in the kitchen with cooking, finding it harder to use a knife to chop onions etc. It was part of the boxing day sales (normally $200), but because I am a regular customer at the place (we have bought a tv, split system, printer and dvd player at different times from them), they knocked off $51. I was super happy! I am going to attempt choclate mousse for my first recipe - wish me luck!
Devi
Two of my close friends rang me up today (they are a couple) and invited me and my partner to the movies. They shouted us dinner, tickets and chocolate sundaes afterwards which was lovely and unexpected. They wouldn't let us pay for anything! We went and saw the second hobbit movie... which means I now should probably watch the first one according to my partner Was a good movie, don't hate me but it kind of seemed to drag on a bit, but that could of been down to a comfort thing for me. I can't handle sitting in the one spot for long, my hip starts to play up and gets worse and worse till I am up and moving again, so after about an hour i was ready to go (not the movies fault). I enjoyed it enough that it almost made me go and buy a copy of the hobbit to read. Oh and right at the end, one kid in the audience yelled "what! No way" he was disappointed it had ended at the part it did.
Signor Finzione
Good luck with your chocolate mousse Devi! Congrats on the bargain food processor too. I went to watch the Hobbit for the second time today, I love it to bits but agree that it's longer than it needs to be. There's a pretty hefty amount of the film that isn't actually in the book, too. julie
Devi That was a great deal on your food processor, plus now you have a cookbook ,so you'll have to tell us about all the good things you make . You'll make us all hungry !! That was such a nice treat for your friends to take you to the movies and for ice cream. I bet it was really fun . I haven't been to the movies in years ! ( I've had ice cream since then though . ) A Whole Bunch .

Devi
And lastly my cook books, my mum thought they would be good for me as I am always tired, and would be good for quick meals I could make.
Brian.
Marching Powder is a great read, it is pretty unique as far as prison memoirs are concerned.
Athena
Great haul! I have those cookbooks too (but I haven't tried any recipes yet ), as well as Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell (different edition) and The Man in the Iron Mask (both unread). I hope your food processor will make things easier for you. It's great of your friends to take you to the cinema and have fun together. I'm glad you had some fun days . Signor Finzione
Wow, brilliant haul Devi. Those books look great! The Jamie ones are really good for quick and easy meals - although some of the recipes sound a bit dodgy, it's fun to go through and mix-and-match the ones you like the sound of. Devi
Had to butcher some emoticons Marching Powder is a great read, it is pretty unique as far as prison memoirs are concerned. Oh that is good to know, I spotted it in a shop and practically told my partner he was buying it for me . Was at a bargain though, marked from $20 to $8. Yeah its been a great end to a bad year, blender is great, still getting the hang of it. I have tried two recipes now from his books, one kinda flopped and the other... well some of it I liked. Wow, brilliant haul Devi. Those books look great! The Jamie ones are really good for quick and easy meals - although some of the recipes sound a bit dodgy, it's fun to go through and mix-and-match the ones you like the sound of.Yeah I noticed with the recipes I mentioned making above . I am going to be leaving out a couple of ingredients if I ever attempt them again. Great haul, Devi Good to see a Patrick O'Brian in there! Totally agree with you about The Hobbit movie Thanks! I think I got that Patrick O' Brian title from you actually. Partner is now nagging me to watch the first hobbit movie, but I didn't feel like I missed out on much from not seeing it. I felt I knew what was happening in the second movie. Lovely book pics Devi, i have Oryx & Crake on my TBR pile as well, although my copy's not as nice & new looking as yours Devi's looks great, doesn't it? What does yours look like? Signor Finzione
Ahh, you have the green rabbits too then! I know what you mean about the ingredients in some recipes - I'm always altering things too. 'Don't need that . . . I'm not putting that in . . . ooh, I might add a bit of this . . .'
