Who all are you going with, Weave? I can't wait . I'll probably have to do a re-read or two of the book beforehand as well.
-
Chesil, after I swore up and down I wouldn't watch the trailer (ask Weave, she knows ) I couldn't contain myself and watched it last week. I've watched it quite a few times come to think of it . I think the trailer looks good too! Especially one part in particular, woohoo! I'm glad you guys won't have to wait again and will see it the dame day I will. I asked for the day off back in January, so I'm read and waiting. I wouldn't mind a thread, since we can always talk about what's supposedly going to be in the film, and how it compares with the book, but whatever you guys think I'm fine with too.

I don't actively seek out first editions, but if I come across one from a favorite author or a book I really loved, then I get pretty excited about it. Right now I only have one, which is Rookery Blues by Jon Hassler, and it's signed. I used to have 3 others but I lost them in the fire .

Sorry, Kyie, no, it really wasn't my cup of tea. It's nothing against the film itself, really, I'm just not very much of a sci-fi/futuristic kind of film lover. Bruce Willis did an excellent job though, and it was an interesting concept .

I watched Surrogates last night, and wow! So not a movie for me

I'm watching Shutter Island right now. Creepy stuff!

WooooHOOO Black Keys, yay Poppy!! Weave is the best, and I love that album . Sinister Kid is my fave track.
-
I'm watching Breaking Away . Forgot how much I loved this movie!
-
Yay!! You'll have to let me know what you think of it after you watch .
-
WHAT??!! Sofia, you have an unwatched copy of Shaun of the Dead in your house? That hurts my heart . It's the most hilarious zombie movie I've ever seen! Please watch it soon, before I fall over, ha!

I agree, Chesil! They are all films I could watch repeatedly and not get bored. We have excellent taste, don't we?!

I used to work with a woman whose first name was spelled Xe, and she pronounced it as 'Say.' People she would talk to on the phone always had trouble so she just started answering her calls as Kay. I can't remember who here stated how to pronounce Clodagh, but thank you! Ever since I read 'Circle of Friends,' I've always wanted to know how that name is to be said.

Over the weekend I watched Shaun of the Dead (with commentary), Bottle Rocket and Easy A.

Your Book Activity Today ~ Thread 14

Although I had a very productive weekend, I didn't get in as much reading as I had hoped . Seriously, there just are not enough hours in the day. I did come home tonight though with the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. My friend lent it to me and can't wait for me to read it. I can't either! -
Poor risotto. Abby, you are supposed to stand and stir, stir, stir that heavenly dish! It gets all creamy and delish that way . I'm having chicken tonight as well, just not sure in what form. Dinner's over 12 hours away, but I had to take a couple of chicken breasts out of the freezer last night before bed so they could thaw. I'll either bake them for salads this week or stir-fry them with some veggies.

Claire and Kylie. I'm glad I could shed some light on my name pronunciation! That's so cool about your name translated from Aboriginal, Kylie. I had no idea and now have this great little fact at my disposal . I've heard there are people who pronounce their name Marcia with the 'see-ah' at the end, but I have yet to meet them in person. I might have trouble stopping myself from pulling a 'disappointed' face at them . Seriously? Klair?? Wow. Many times people just don't pay attention, especially through email. It's funny though, because slight misspellings are understandable, yet coming up with a completely different name, like Clara? People make all sorts of mysterious leaps!

I come in contact with people all the time who pronounce my name 'Mar-see-ah,' which boggles my mind for some reason. I spell my name Marcia but I pronounce it like Marsha, and it feels perfectly natural to me. When I meet people named Patricia, Alicia, etc, I use the 'sh' sound, so I wonder why people think it's different for my name? I'm very polite about it, but I always have to correct people because it's one of my pet peeves . It's either the people who mispronounce my name or laugh and say oooh "Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!" from the TV show the Brady Bunch. *sigh* I love learning about origins of names though, and I love asking people how to say their name and what roots it has. It's fascinating!

Your Book Activity Today ~ Thread 14

Yay, Mexicola! Such a great book. I'm a little over halfway through A Discovery of Witches and hope to get a big chunk read tonight and tomorrow. I can't get enough! -
I don't think it will be the end of the book, but if I was being completely honest with myself I would say that it's headed in that direction . I am really hoping against all hope that my fellow citizens don't let that happen, but I can only rely on myself I guess. Could it be like what happened to the vinyl album? Eventually getting replaced by new technology and 30 years later the only place you can find them are specialty shops or used music stores? I was shocked a few months ago when I went to buy a real live CD and found an absolutely dismal selection, forcing me to go online and buy one or just settle for the download. With all due respect to my fellow BCF-ers who own eBook readers, and you know I love all of you dearly, I think I would rather stop reading altogether than read my books electronically. I don't know why I feel so strongly about it, when I have no problem loading up my iPod with songs rather than put a CD in the player, but for some reason books hold a higher place for me.

True, there are some annoying personalities on the Food Network. I'm not a huge fan of Anne and her 'Secrets of a Restaurant Chef' show. She makes odd noises when she cooks! I'm watching Weeds right now, season 4. People are crazy on this show!

Rachael's great, Sofia. A couple weekends ago for the first time I saw her show where she makes a week's worth of meals in one day and she had some great ideas! I also like Claire Robinson's show where she makes all kinds of dishes with just 5 ingredients. Right now I'm working on my website and watching a National Geographic documentary on tornadoes. Super scary but fascinating!

King's Speech was excelent, Kate! Bottle Rocket is about three friends who decide to become vigilantes and live life on the lam, at which they fail miserably. It was Wes Anderson's first film and if you're familiar with his stuff at all it's very quirky and hilarious! Luke and Owen Wilson are in it, as well as James Caan .
