Interesting about Mary and Elizabeth. Elizabeth was by far the best monarch because she ruled with her hea. Mary wa an emotional nitwit by all accounts. Mary did produce an heir, he became King James (KJV bible) and Elizabeth's successor. Mary tried 3 different times to have Elizabeth disposed, hence, off with her head. Elizabeth had opportunity to marry but she refused to be forced into it by Parilment. She would, if God led her to, marry with her heart and her head. In the end, Elizabeth would be under submission to NO man.

Tenure with Luke Wilson. Interesting, not sur if I'll stick with it though. I started watching Mrs. Miniver but the darn thing blacked out,so I'm watchng Tenure.

Funny should mention the leash laws. I watched Judge Judy Friday and there was an episode where a guy had the NERVE to sue his neighbors boyfriend for beating his dog. But get this, the dog (pit bull) got out of the house and ran for the neighbors dog while the dog was in its yard. It killed the dog and bit the neighbors boyfriend! No remorse, no common sense AND this dog is a repeat biter. In all honesty, I would have shot it and would have been within my rights to do it. He, the idiot, thought it was being hit excessively...?! Of course, he lost.

I found this book on Amazon and fell in love with it, its called The Sorcerer's Companion: A guide to the Magical World of Harry Potter, by Allan Zola Kronzck and Elizabeth Kronzck. Its so full of ALL THINGS POTTER. Think of an HP almanack.

I couldnt bring myself to like Snape even after his "big reveal". I mean, the guy was twisted. He's so in love with Lily that he treats her only child the way he did? It was more of an obsession than love. He was abusive and nasty and he needed a mental evaluation done! Its almost as if he hated Harry with the same energy that he "loved" Lily and I'll be darn if I'd turn around and name one of my pets, much less a child of mine after him!

Hello all! I'm working on three papers for school. One is about St. Patrick and his conversion of the Irish to Christianity. The other paper is about Queen Elizabeth. I am searching for resources (peer reviewed, journals, etc) about the queen's challenges as the Queen Monarch and a woman (if she sacrificed her, ie. love, marriage, children). The battles she fought to be taken seriously, etc. And the last one is on the influence of invented words from HP series into the mainstream. Crazy subjects and I'm going crazy searching for the resources for these subjects. What I wanted to know is if any of you have some suggestions for books, journals and articles that would be helpful? I've used my university's library site but its just frustrating me because I can't seem to find the right key words to do a search that doesnt generate 2,900 responses! Any help would be truly appreciated! And if my questions are too scattered, feel free to ask me a more direct question!

One of my favorite subjects also as I delve into my family history! For some fictional reading I would also suggest Louise Eldrich. She wrote such books as Plague of Doves, The Painted Drum and Love Medicine to name a few. Excellent books! Also, you can't go wrong with Sherman Alexie! My favorite of his is The Absolutely True Tales of a Part-time Indian! This book makes you laugh out loud and ache with pain. Highly recommend it!

I'm watching LOTR's! I can't get enough of these movies. Even if I don't actually "watch" them I love to have them on the telly. Seeing as we're leaving out in a few, I'll just have to stick in the DVD when I get home!

Most people who arent working white collar jobs tend to start out with one week after working a year. Pathetic. And then there are those who work like a dog, put in for their earned vacation, get it "approved", go on holiday and come back fired. Yeah, happened to my dh. People who work in the fast food industry don't get vacations either because they are considered part time. They work all holidays but have no benefits. Sucks.

True pickle, I thought the Dwarves were definately sto steps shy of shady. Talk about fair weather friends!! They all had to go through some personal growth.
