I've just finished this, not what I was expecting at all! I've never read anything by him before so I guess that's where the surprise came in, very bizarre turn but thoroughly enjoyable and not my normal kind of thing so it was a pleasant change, in other words, I can recommend it!
Oh no!! Why did I look at this thread, I knew it'd do me no good haha!! I absolutely love cooking, and Delia's indulgent, calorific Christmas recipes are just fab! hehe!
Heheee!! How funny!! I can't believe how many of you on here are into that. My friend was trying to get me to read it the other week, not sure if it's my thing though!
I seem to have some weird obsession with Marmite on toast at the moment!!
Other comfort foods are: Sausage Mash & Gravy, Ice Cream, Lasagne, Egg Mayo sandwiches. Mostly savoury, I like sweet things, but i'd rather savoury junk!
Hehe brill weren't they!! I think Funhouse and The Cheerleader were my favourite, in fact, I have The Cheerleader on my bookshelf, I found it when I was moving house a few months back! May have to read it again at some point!
I've read My Legendary Girlfriend and Wish You Were Here both by Mike Gayle, I enjoyed both of them very much, and Adam you're right, it is nice seeing things from a male point of view!
Just thought of another, typo's!!! Grrrr!! Whether they be incorrectly spelt, or whether they'd put the wrong characters name in at the wrong place, it really irritates me, surely proof readers should be picking these things up!!
I signed up for their loyalty card yesterday, it's good how you can automatically use it without physically having it when you sign up online!
I was like a child in a sweet shop in there yesterday, I think I browsed the fiction section about 5 times over!
I bought a book by Douglas Coupland on ebay the other day called Girlfriend in a Coma, it looks quite interesting so I hope it's good.
Also, how did you find Band of Brothers Raven?
I can't make up my mind whether to cook something out of the poor supply of food that I have, which would probably be either noodles or pesto gnocchi, or have a take away, decisions, decisions!
I started reading this last night so I'm a few chapters in and I'm really struggling to get into it, I'm going to persevere a bit longer though as it's been recommended to me . Hopefully, like Michelle, I'll start enjoying it once he's actually on the boat!
Also, (sorry for double posting) I've just found The Works website, I know some of you were saying you missed having one in your town, it's www.theworks.co.uk
Me too!!! Knowing my luck he'll have read it. That's what happened on Fathers Day! Oh well if he has, i'll just nick it off him and get him something else
