  1. There's a chick lit based one called The Learning Curve by Melissa Nathan, that's based around teachers and their antics.
  2. I think this is why I started reading in the first place, to escape from the world around me. The world inside a book is a much more pleasant one
  3. Hey, I hope you're enjoying Wuthering Heights. I read it a few weeks back, it was my first "period fiction" novel and I really enjoyed it! Have a great weekend x

  4. Happy Birthday, hope you're having a good one x

  5. Happy Birthday, hope you're having a good one x

  6. I'm hoping I get through it in time! I've only just started Notes From and Exhibition, and I've got another book lent to me by the same person that i'm reading after it called Random Acts of Heroic Love, then I'll be able to start The Reader. I am however going on a road trip to London on Sunday so will hopefully be reading for most of it providing it doesn't make me feel sick!
  7. Just keep scraps of paper/receipts/etc to hand to put in when you can't find a bookmark, that's what I was doing until my Dad gave me a lovely handmade thai one with pressed flowers on it. I do have a lovely dragonfly one, but it's metal with jewels on and it was getting ruined where I was carrying my books back and forth work.
  8. Hello! Just popping by to say hi, hope everything is ok with you x

    Hello

Hey Jessi, welcome to the forum, I read Wuthering Heights a few weeks back and really enjoyed it. I'm very jealous that you're doing History in uni, what are you planning to specialise in?
  11. I started Notes From an Exhibition last night
  12. Well I have finally just finished Shake! Only took me 8 days! Shocking for a 400 pager really! Oh well, I enjoyed it and it was something a bit different. Oh I also ordered Small Island by Andrea Levy from Green Metropolis today (thanks BookJumper for introducing me to that site )
  13. Hello, just thought I'd pop by and say hi! I've also just noticed that you joined here on my birthday!! hehe!

  14. I was thinking of doing the same thing! Mine will be covered in butterflies and fairies no doubt hehe.
  15. Oh my, I am crying for your poor books! A colleague and I caught another colleague doing that today! Criminal! Why do it Kimmy, you could have so many pretty bookmarks
  16. I've just ordered this from Green Metropolis as I saw it recommended on a book newsletter I'm signed up to. It sounds really good so I hope I enjoy it!
  17. I'm down to the last 40 pages of my book so I'll be finishing that off before I go to sleep tonight
  18. Oh my!! I think I'd go nuts if someone did that to me
  19. Hello and welcome back, hopefully you'll stay longer this time
  20. Aww thanks I'll have to find some pics and a book and see how I get on from there. Another payday quest
  21. Shocking!! You are far more restrained than me, I'd have bought something anyway! Although I was on their website last night, and I've added 3 books to my wishlist on there, but have decided not to get them until pay day! I'm just about coming to the end of Shake! It's taken me a week to read, really slow for me, especially since I'm enjoying it. Think I'll read Notes from an Exhibition next as someone has lent it to me.
  22. Yeah the ending is always pretty much the same with chick lit, shockingly before I joined this forum, that was almost all I ever read! Don't worry, I have expanded my reading mind since I've read an awful lot of chick lit, and it doesn't seem to matter what the subject matter is initially (mommy lit, Choc-lit, etc) they all go along the same path in the end. However, they are absolutely fabulous when you need a bit of trashy escapism. I found that after Wuthering Heights, I needed something light and easy to read. Sorry ii, I know this isn't actually what the post is meant to be about, however I need to brush up on my reviewing and comparing skills
  23. Aah see I looked again! haha!! I think it's inevitable that I'll at least attempt scrapbooking! I've even already got some little foamy stickers that I bought at the beginning of the year which I used for making a cd cover for my friend who was going travelling
  24. I am seriously going to have to stop reading this thread!
  25. Hehe!! This book was the opposite of Marmite for me since I love the stuff!
