  1. I have recently read One Flew Over. I didn't find myself desperate to read it or particularly turning the pages quckly but I am SOOO glad I kept with it. If you want characters that you will want to back and get behind then read this.
  2. I'm on the last chunk of The Night Watch at the moment. A few more sessions and I'll be done. I love the characters in this book and the whole story is told in quite a unique way. Very impressed
  3. I know what you mean and I didn't like Jane Austen the first time round I have The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein to read. It is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley told from the scientists point of view. I really loved Frankenstein so I hope this is a good book but is a rewriting really like the above books you have mentioned
  4. I went at 9pm so it was all adults but I knew it was a 12a and I don't think I would want my children watching that. Like you said, it is quite complex but also I thought it was quite dark and whilst it doesn't dwell on human suffering it still showed people hanging by their necks. I wouldn't want my children watching that to be honest. Maybe I'm just being silly though
  5. Something that is starting to get on my nerves now though are all the recaps. It is really annoying when we have to keep watching flashes of peoples flash forwards over and over and over again. I am able to keep track of a TV programme. I have been watching LOST since the beginning
  6. I saw The Imaginarium last night too. I found the plotline very clever. phew! that is what I think anyway. That is a very rambling and illiterate bunch of writing there but if you can get through it then good It was good to see Heath Ledger though. I feel so bad for him - his career could have been so amazing. Johnny Depp is my fave actor - I love him
  7. exactly that's true but if/when you watch the film you will see how appropriate that title would be
  8. Yes, I know what you mean. There are so many good series out there. I just got sooo wrapped up in Harry Potter and I love the world that JK has created aaah I'm gushing now. I love reading series though. It is fun rushing to the library desperately trying to get the next one
  9. Yes, there are another two hehe! I missed Edward too. and I credit Stephenie Meyer for that I hope you like the rest. I kind of lost it after New Moon. --- Picked up The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein at the library today I read the first few pages of The Art of Racing in the Rain and decided against it. I think it would upset me too much Still reading The Night Watch
  10. *peers at her own username* ....yup I am waving the Harry Potter flag. I loved LOTR too welcome to the forum
  11. If the love stuff is annoying you now I hate to think how you will cope with the next two I liked New Moon because I really like Jacob
  12. District 9 is brilliant and if you like sci-fi you will love it. Normally, I wouldn't encourage sequels but District 9 is SO good... kinda open ended. SAW VI! Nahhh... I'll give that a miss Couldn't get through the first one :s
  13. Somebody was obviously bored Dear-oh-dear! Also, this is the best reading forum I have found. I have found all others slightly stuffy, snobby and I haven't felt comfortable in them *hugs forum*
  14. I'm still reading The Night Watch by Sarah Waters and loving it Almost halfway through now. I got Dune and Dune Messiah from a friend last night too. Have wanted to read Dune for ages. My boyfriend says it isn't very good though It is a REALLY old copy of Dune and when I got it home I opened it and found a really old polaroid picture of a woman sitting with two collie dogs... I love finding things like that in old books
  15. I really hope they make a sequel to District 9
  16. hehehe I loved it but then I am a complete Star Trek newbie I really liked Seven but I agree - her chest probably saved that show
  17. Yes, I only listen to the book review podcast. I don't listen to the whole show. I really love it and have been listening to it for quite a while now I hope I didn't spoil anything for you by mentioning that :s
  18. YES! I had that on casette and played it over and over and over good times lol! The first CD I brought was Baby One More Time by Britney and I still love it and her
  19. She was on the weekly book podcast that I listen to and nobody sounded very enthused about it and they hardly talked about her book
  20. I am quite new to Star Trek. I was dragged by my boyfriend to the movie that came out earlier this year and I really didn't expect much at all. However, I found the film really REALLY good and went back to see it another three times My boyfriend was over the moon about this and got all of the Star Trek Voyager episodes and watched them over a course of a few months one after the other. I was really asd when it ended We are now making our way through DS9
  21. I am REALLY enjoying True Blood. I absolutely love it. I haven't read the books as I couldn't get into them (slightly worrying) but I am really enjoying the TV series. I have a bit of a girl crush on Bill....
  22. It was in London too but the tickets sold out so quickly I didn't even have time to blink I am glad it is doing well though
  23. you could try read it swap it for free copies but you have to have something to give back as well
  24. I got a fair way into The Night Watch yesterday and am really enjoying it I will certainly stick this one out. Very engaging characters I was also surprised to find that the copy I have has been signed
