I'm asking on behalf on my boyfriend. He wants a book that was written in the 1800's and is about life at that time. I've done a little google search but I know you guys will be a much better help
It doesn't matter if it is long or short. Any suggestion will do.
thanks
Yes, I still have the book on my shelf. I just didn't want to read all of the sad entries at the end. I really like Sylvia Plath. I travelled all the way up north to visit her grave I'm sure I'll read the last few pages ones day.
Middlesex is brilliant. I really enjoyed reading it
I looove this book
I read Sylvia Plath's journals years ago. They are rather chunky but worth a read I remembered I stopped a few entries towards the end though.
I started reading My Sister's Keeper by Jodi picoult yesterday. I think this one will be a weeper!
I finished reading Percy Jackson & the Lightning Theif. A bit of light reading and a super little fantasy to get lost in.
I'm going onto White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi next.
I agree, the build up adds to the creepiness. When something did happen it genuinely scared me. I love Sarah Waters This is my favourite of her books because it is different to the other two that I have read by her.
I finished reading The Little Stranger last night. VERY good and probably my favourite book by Sarah Waters - it is so different to others that I have read.
I have read a few pages of Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Yes, I'm in my 20s and the book is for 9+ but it just looks and sounds so good a nice easy read perhaps
I'm about 100 pages into The Little Stranger and I'm loving it. I'm waiting for 'something' to happen but Sarah Waters seems to be building the atmosphere of Hundreds and giving a real feel for the characters. Other authors would have bored me by now but she really does capture my attention. I think she is a fantastic author
I read this in January and it is ABSOLUTELY brilliant! I feel like there are many layers to this book and I think that I could read it in a few years time and get even more from it I'm never giving this book away.
A friend told me that the book is nothing like the musical.
I finished reading The Time of my Life by Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi. I started the book thinking that it would be really sad but it was very interesting and I found out many things about him that I hadn't known before. It's a really good autobiography
I got The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters out of the library but I haven't started it yet. Excited though as I love her
I finished The Rules of Attraction it was ok but not amazing.
I started reading The Time Of My Life, the autobiography that Patrick Swayze wrote, with the help of his life, whilst fighting cancer. It's good so far but kinda bitter sweet
I have felt like that about every book he has written except The Shining. I always find them really good at first but then they just lag towards the end.
Finally finished Salem's Lot by Stephen King. What a rubbish book!
Started reading The Rules of Attraction by Bret Easten Ellis. Have only read a little bit but liking it so far
I'm still reading Salem's Lot. I have about 100 pages and I'm really struggling to get through it. Kinda want to know what happens but it is quite an awful book :s
