  1. I love the book and film Shining I have read the book soooo many times.
  2. I have read the Twilight series. I liked the first two bokos but not the last two. I found the saga entertaining but in no way a 'must read' However, if people like it then that is up to them. You should read it before you bash it though. It is rather annoying when people base their opinions on nothing.
  3. wow that is dedication I think real bookworms are able to read in the most uncomfortable positions. I sometimes read before bed and I sit on my legs in order to stop myself falling asleep
  4. a marmite book? haha you have just coined a phrase
  5. How about The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards. That is a very good and mvoing book I'll let you research it on amazon ... I don't want to say too much (which I have a tendancy to do)
  6. I have enjoyed all of the LOTR books and films and all of the HP books and films, EXCEPT HBP. Funny how people's tastes are different
  7. I take a book with me EVERYWHERE because you just never know My boyfriend and I were in a car crash a few years back. I sat at the side of the road reading and awaiting rescue
  8. I tried reading this a while back and couldn't get into it. I donated it to the charity shop
  9. When I read WH my mind always stumbled over that word for a few split seconds
  10. bloody hell! People are reading 3+ books a week?? I only read one if that
  11. I was very disappointed with the half blood prince. it didn't explain what half blood prince means, the storylines were all over the place and... the ending I thought Twilight was pretty bad. Felt really rushed. I doubt I will go to see New Moon. I have read Dorian Gray and I'm planning on seeing it on Wednesday. I am not sure what to think of the trailer. The Other Boleyn Girl was pretty bad too.
  12. haha if that is what Poppyshake meant then she is very witty indeed! Yes, there were faaaaar too many adverts for my liking! And why are the adverts always so LOUD
  13. Just to give a different POV from the majority here - I absolutely loved ITV's adaptation of Wuthering Heights and so did all of my friends :D
  14. Yes, don't worry about it I did it when I first came here I think a lot of people do
  15. I also think the WH covers are a disgrace I saw an article this morning that said that Waterstones have put WH back on their best sellers list thanks to Twilight. On one hand it is a real shame because like somebody else has said I think of windy moors, gothic houses and freaky men when I think of Wuthering Heights. Not artsy fartsy cash in covers! However, if that is what it takes to get people reading classics then so be it. That can't be a bad thing. I just wonder if these so called fangirls would have looked twice at WH if not for Edward and Bella. This is what my copy looks like:
  16. You might want to cover some of the spoilers. Edit your post and highlight the spoilers and then press the S... aaah I'm no good at explaining
  17. this sounds very interesting. I will certainly add this to my reading list as me and my OH are trying for a baby
  18. is the film terrible then? I hate it when that happens
  19. A passionate, hypnotic and dangerous novel about a daughter and her mother. Astrid has been raised by her mother, Ingrid a beautiful, headstrong poet. Astrid's world revolves around Ingrid; she forgives her everything. Until Ingrid murders a former lover and is imprisoned for life... The book spans five years in which Astrid tells her story as she is placed in different foster homes and struggles to maintain a relationship with her Mother. I found it interesting to see how each of Astrid's foster Mother's shaped her and made her into what she became. Has anybody else read this? I'm sure I saw someone talking about it
  20. I read this quite a while back and I remember really enjoying it. I should watch the film really to refresh my memory of it
  21. I read the translation and didn't find any faults with it
  22. I never struggle through books now. There are too many books out there and so little time The last book I struggled through was Moby Dick and that was in January 2006. God knows why I continued with it but I did and it was AWFUL! I can't really think of any others. If a book hasn't got my attention within a few chapters then I give up completely.
