  3. thank you - I'll certainly look out for this one
  4. I only discovered her this year My aunt was telling me about a film she loves called 'Rebecca' and when I found out that it was a book I obviously took it from the library, read it and then watched the film straight after. Both were fantastic. I love her style of writing. She doesn't go over the top describing things but you get such a wonderful imagery as well. I have since read My Cousin Rachel - another brilliant story. Kind of mysterious and dark like Rebecca. It was my birthday yesterday and my Aunt gave me Jamaica Inn and a collection of Du Maurier's short stories Happy times
  5. IT is a brilliant touching story. I am so glad that I read it before seeing the film
  6. She didn't turn it down. I read on the BBC that she wasn't filming anything else and she was completely aware of her running contract with the Twilight Saga and had every intention of honouring it. She has also said that she is upset and hurt. So, I think she has been shifted out on purpose. I know this is a book forum but since we are going down the route of movies here - does anybody else have a problem with Kirsten/Kristen Stewart? I really do not like her
  7. hehe ok I see :) Well I have two stars now and haven't been here long so I think I am doing quite well :P

  8. hi :) yes, I am in Kent :) It is always nice to find people that live around the same area as me :) I see that you are a Moderator. Perhaps you can answer a question I have had for a while. What do the stars mean that appear underneath our usernames? Do they indicate a number of posts that somebody has made?

  9. LMAO! I am loving your work Can you imagine with New Moon... they will scream Are a lot of people here from America? I live in South East England and people here would complain if other filmgoers were talking/shuffling let alone screaming through a film.
  10. I have added this to my reading list thanks. it sounds fantastic.
  11. When I went to see HBP the trailer for NM came on. Lots of Potter fans were muttering and mubbling and some even booed
  12. I thought I would bump this thread up because I finished The Good Thief yesterday
  13. The Luhrmann versin I like Shakespeare too. Am going to see R&J at the Globe Theatre in August should be good.
  14. After a lot of thought it has to be Romeo and Juliet... I watched the film version of it last night. Beautiful tragic story

  19. the mind boggles :s
  20. somebody groups them by authors they would be friends with? that is totally cute my bookcase is wide but only has three shelves shelf one - all of the books that I have read, loved and will NEVER give away or lend. aka.. my permanent collection shelf two - all of the books that I am yet to read shelf three - all hardback books. a mix or read and to be read. I also have four carrier bags full of books waiting to go to the charity shop
  21. that is totally shocking!
  22. I annotate my own books heavily but I would NEVER deface a book that wasn't my own property. I use the library a lot and have to see I do not see it often. I did have a book that said 'did you like this? text me' I text 'you are an idiot' and they didn't reply It is wonderful coming across heavily annotated books in charity shops though
  23. Unless I am completely bowled over by a book I give them all to the charity shops in town
