  2. I agree, illustrations can be really good when reading. Usually not everything is illustrated so the kids get to fill in the gaps with their imagination. I still remember lots of books with great illustrations. The Jaquiline Wilson books with all the illustrations by Nick Sharet, The Shirley Hughes books. And books with illustrations by Quinten Blake (and sometimes written by him too)
  3. I generally like indie/rock stuff, but like some pop too. My favourite band are called Misty's Big Adventure and are a bit hard to categorise
  4. Try ratatouille, easy, only uses the hob, plenty of veg. and tasty! I used to cook it for my uni friends and all but the boyfriend (who complained about the lack of meat) left uni with the recipe. I'll give you recipe in case you don't know it For 4 use: 1 corgette/zuccini 1 green pepper 1 aubegine/egg plant 1 small tin kidney beans About 5 mushrooms (depending on size) 2 cloves garlic (crushed) 1 onion 1 large tin chopped tomatoes 1. Chop corgette and aubigene into strips and salt 2. Fry onion and garlic 3. Add chopped mushrooms and pepper 4. Rinse salt off corgette and aubigene, add 5. Add tomatoes in juice and stir 6. Allow to simmer for about 20 minutes 7. Rinse kidney beans and add cook for about a minute 8. You may want to add basil too 9. Serve with pasta and/or garlic bread (I believe you can get garlic bread which can go in the microwave)
  5. Ratatouille tonight with garlic bread, one of my favourite meals, yumm yumm
  6. I quite like detective novels and war novels myself, but not thrillers, I get scared toon easily
  7. Yup me too. I can't even begin to think how long my TBR pile would be if it included my wishlist
  8. yumm Baked Alaska is nice
  9. It's strange, I used to get the fish and chips crisps after swimming too
  10. I've not been to my local library in a while...not even sure where my card is. I have an awful habit of missing the due dates for books and now I have to pay fines. Apparently they have an I.T suite now so it's kinda noisy
  11. I just counted all the books on my TBR, including the ones I'm borrowing off family members. The count is only 5 which isn't too bad, but longer than I normally have
  12. I learnt to read with those too, and remember them fondly. I always liked Johnny and Jenifer Yellow Hat. They still used them at my school when I'd left but it wasn't long after that they stopped
  13. I agree with him actually. The pace of Twilight is good, and it's a very sure romance, Bella is sure about her love for Edward, even though he's a vampire, and he's painted as perfect, he dazzles her. Then there's that he wants to protect her- even from himself. It's not realistic but it's kind of like the handsome prince in fairytales it's what teenagers want romance to be
  14. Hia,

I'm alright except for having a bit of a cold. How are you?

  15. According to Yahoo answers they don't. That's a shame I used to like them as a kid
  16. Yeah I hate that one too. In fact all personal injury ones
  17. Oh yes I forgot onion bhaji, that one could be nice. And it was cajun squirrel, close enough. And builder's breakfast not egg. I vaguelly remember hedgehog crisps, but not enough to remember if they were tasty. Do Fish and Chips crisps still exist? I remember they were is shapes of fish and chips, they were kinda nice, tasted nothing like fish and chips though
  18. to the forum. Hope you like it here. Is there any particular type of book you like to read?
  19. I'm having baked potato and beans tonight, not fancy, but nice
  20. I think Peking Duck, Fish and Chips, Chilli Chocolate (I think that one sounds horrible), Spicy Squirrel (or something like that) and Egg. I've not tried any. Think the Fish and chips might be nice, and the peeking duck. But the egg and chilli chocolate sound nasty for crisps
  21. I was wondering if there was a real website
  22. Hia to the forum
  23. Hia Booknutt to the forum
  24. Mort is the only Discworld novel I've enjoyed (that I've tried), so maybe that one. Having said that Johnny and the Dead, also by Terry Pratchet, is good
  25. Maybe, I don't recognise any of those covers, but I could be wrong. Either way they're beautiful
