  1. Ugh.. sorry about that :( Thanks for the info.. I may steer clear of that one!

  2. Hi Charm! :) Curious as to if you like Lisa Gardner.. a lot of readers that read Gerritsen seem to also enjoy Gardner? Thought I'd ask you since you intro'd me to Gerritsen. :)

  3. How are you liking "Mercy" ?? I've been looking at that one for a little while.. Let me know how you're getting on with it, if you don't mind. :)

  4. Aww.. that can't be true! I'm sure your life is PLENTY busy, what w/that cute one in the photograph and all... ;)

I WILL tell you a secret.. I LOVE routine. Love it. I actually sometimes miss trotting off to work at the exact same time every morning, laying out my shoes with my outfit the night before, coming home and watching the exact same shows on TV.

This traveling around and moving so much has forced me to be a lot more flexible and it's taught me a lot.. but every once in a while, I really do miss the routine things!

  5. Thanks, Sarah! I'm having a great time here so far.. it's so nice and pretty! Lots to do around where we live, so it's really fun so far. :)

Anything exciting going on with you??

  6. I have no idea, but I haven't tried to find out. I actually picked UP a piece of litter the other day.. It was the only piece of trash I've seen so far, and it skittered by my foot. I picked it up as I was scared that someone would see me and think I threw it down. I didn't want to be flogged. :(

I think the punishment is "lashes by a rattan cane," and the number of lashes is determined by the severity of the crime. If it's a big crime, it's punished by death. For example, if you're caught being drugs into Singapore, you die. Scary, or what?!

  7. Hi Ceinwenn!

First off, sorry for your work troubles you're going through.. I know I said it on the board, but wanted to send you a message as well. It sounds like a miserable experience. :(

And yes, I am feeling so much better now, thank you! The medicine seemed to really help so I'm glad I went as soon as I started feeling bad.

We had a bit of a detour in plans due to HK work visa processes, so are in Singapore for a few weeks until the HK process is complete. Then we'll move on over. :) Singapore is great so far.. I really like it here! So nice and clean, pretty, and lots of shopping and things to do. Hopefully we'll enjoy HK as well once we finally make it there. :)

Hope you're faring okay under all the stress of work related issues.... *hugs*

  8. My sheer, uncontrollable excitement over it is what could deem me pathetic.. ;)

  9. Yey for me!! Thanks!! ;) I was so excited the day I made it, but I didn't do any celebrating b/c people would think I was SUCH a loser. ;)

  10. Sending hugs your way, as I know you aren't feeling good at the moment.. Will keep you in my thoughts.

  11. What a serious task lies ahead of you!

    Good luck! ;) ;)

  12. oh, absolutely! I'll PM you w/it. Does it cost an arm and a leg to send texts internationally? I haven't a clue how these things work. A few well-placed, completely inappropriate messages are well worth the expense, I'd say!

  13. hahaha.. this is going to be an eventful night for you! I, meanwhile, will be eating dinner with a set of bible-thumping newlyweds, of which the female half "is grateful for rickshaw rides because it gives her more time to pray." I mean.. i love the girl.. she is VERY sweet.. but I'm certainly not going to be kissing any women or downing any jello shots tonight. :-/

We should be leaving next week.. could be any day next week, but we'll move in either on April 1st or April 5th, depending on our housing options.

  14. Boo :( I was hoping you were loving it and couldn't sleep for reading it now! Oh well.. at least you're forging ahead w/it.. I'm impressed! :)

I JUST got housing options from Citi for HK THIS SECOND, so I'm about to go dig through those and pick my future home.. Hopefully we are moving next week! I'm so excited!

  15. Oh ha ha, very ha! At least I think you CAN entertain me and cure my boredom.. That's plenty nice, I think! ;) I certainly can't call anyone Missy No-Life.. I'm calling out to invisible friends to play with me! ;) ;)

Cannot believe how busy you are! At least you're not bored like me! Good luck getting all of this stuff done -- if I was there I'd run around with you and slow you down by distracting you. Ahem.. I mean "help you."

As for me, I'm just twiddling my thumbs while waiting on our confirmed date for flight to Hong Kong.. I think I will go NUTS if I have to wait more than 1 more week. I'm so ready to get there!

  16. Where are you? Why aren't you here? You're always here. I'm bored.. come play with me.

  17. How are you doing with The Book Thief now? Any improvement?? :)

  18. It was a good time in my life for Swarup's book to make it big... life is good sometimes ;)

  19. I can agree w/you that each chapter is a little story unto itself.. and the movie is laid out in much the same way, if you haven't seen the movie yet. I do sort of wish there'd been a way to weave his life episodes more cleverly into the gameshow questions.. a little less "Question Number 9" and a little more "flash back flash forwards" maybe? I dunno.. I'm babbling. :)

Glad you're at least enjoying some of the aspects of the book though! :)

  20. Hi Katie! :)

Yes, I've read Slumdog.. I really liked the book actually. And the movie, as they were different enough to even avoid comparison for me. I don't know how to be all fancy and send you the direct link to my review of the book, but if you go up to the Search function at the top of BCF, and type in Beth's Bookshelf.. there's a list of all the books with their reviews. Q&A should be easy to find on there, if you want to read my full review. :)

What are you enjoying about it, and what are you disliking so far?

  21. Well, have a fabulous time! Eat lots of grapes, and drink LOTS of champagne.. (not that I have to tell you that ;) )

  22. Oh, and where are you going tomorrow for a wk??

  23. Yes.. Hong Kong HAS to be easier than India.. I love it here, but it DEFINITELY presented a lot of challenges initially. I'm really excited.. We're thrilled! Thanks for your well wishes. :) And who knows.... you may end up w/some crazy reason to visit Hong Kong. ;) Then martiniiiiis!!

Have a great day.. Good luck with your exam! And yummy.. chicken tortillas and pink champagne!! Have a wonderful time w/your friend :)

  24. fabulous!!

and even MORE exciting... We just found out we're moving to Hong Kong next!! I'm freaking out and so excited!!

    How are you??

  25. Haha.. even the dog is male! ;) I know it's got to be tough seeing your girl go.. but at least you have a whole house left of other ones! Can't be boring around THAT house. ;) You'll see.. it really will be ok, and you'll grow even closer to her in some ways, if you guys are anything like my mom and I!
