  1. Ooooh... The word "Chocolat" does it, I can't possibly resist! Such a nice offer Inver! Thanks! *grin* Are you sure about international though? I'll totally understand if not.
  2. I can't believe I haven't updated this since the 20th of march... ah well, not been much to report on I guess But now there is, cause my mojo's well and truly back! *grin* So, on saturday I finished The N
  3. Hi Lexie! I received your review copy of Kandide and the Secret of the Mists by mistake... Could you PM me your adress so that I can send it on to you?

  4. No worries... I sure hope you are enjoying HK rather than spending all your time on the internet! ;)

  5. haha, good one rwemad! I'll have to think of getting Tommy's help next time I lose mine *laughs*
  6. True... it seemed sad and at the same time strange. I mean, what would the enticement for that be? The first few times of course there is a lot to be learnt and even enjoyed. But then? Reading just for the sake of reading? No matter that you know the book by heart? I can understand it for someone who has always read and suddenly finds himself with only one book available (in a captive situation...). But not even imagining that there might be other books, and yet reading over and over the one book available? Exactly! There's so much to think about and so many ways one can go... (unfortunately) no straight answer. Thanks!
  7. Absolutely! There's no discussing that fact of life
  8. Aha, and a perfectly reasonable reason it is! (and thanks, you've just made me feel much less guilty about the pair of shoes I just HAD to buy today... Cause they are pretty! *laughs*)
  9. Wow, impressive! Do you plan on using them on something specific?
  10. Hiya there too! How are you this evening? feet propped up and enjoying a well deserved rest after your scouting expedition?

  11. Hi, that's true. You haven't been around much... How are you?

  12. What kind of paper costs that much ??! I'm also one of those notebook lovers. Except I've learnt that I never do anything with them so I don't really buy them anymore.
  13. Oh but it doesn't mean the students aren't paying for it. The school's just upped the fees by the amount the comp costs
  14. We might be able to get along then *laughs* My thoughts exactly. Except of course a lot of stuff isn't even meant to work with macs, which really bugs me. For example in my school we use the comps a lot with an intranet where we get our schedules, subscribe to classes, program meetings... as well as DVDs with lots of materials for classes... etc, etc. And of course a lot of that doesn't work on macs, even though there are quite a few mac users amongst the students. But they've solved the issue now. They give (read: include in the unwaivable schooling fees) a PC to each new student. Talk about forced conversion! I'm glad I escaped that
  15. Hey! I use a mac, I love macs... and I dont see anything wrong with it! Having always used one I do find it easier, and I enjoy not having to bother about viruses I'm not in the camp of the mac converters but please let me enjoy my comp *laughs* What bugs me? PC users who cant tolerate people using another system (just kidding, you all know that right?)
  16. Ooh, I'm so glad you did! What did you think about the way it shows the Bookmobile? Did it make you feel like contributing to the project or rather doubt its usefulness like it did me (but I'm afraid I'm becoming terribly cynic these days )?
  17. The balancing act is fine so long as I'm working alone and on my 'critical deadlines' basis. Unfortunately most of it is groupwork, which has it's good points but can get very tricky: there are always those who exchange dozens of e-mails about it during the day and those like me who can't or don't want to do so at work; those who are always thinking a month ahead and those who believe in, well 'critical deadline basis'; those who want to do a word report on top of the ppt presentation "just in case we missed the teacher asking for it" and those who trust the syllabi which specifically states that the only evaluation is a presentation... You get the picture. *cracks up*

  18. haha yes, that must have felt like a gem after all this time abroad...

That's great! You haven't seen her since you left, right? I'm sure you'll have loads of catching up and exploring to do together :)

Great tactic! Plus it means we readers can look forward to regular updates all week *grins*

Actually that's a frightnening question, cause the end is getting disturbingly close... counting the work weeks out I only have 6 weeks of school left. That will bring me to the end of july and I then have another month of internship... and I'm done! *wide eyes*

I haven't, but I should! I'm thinking more along the lines of an exotic trip, but yes... I'm sure the event warrants something big!

  19. haha, yes, we can trust her to do a happy little dance for us the cookies
  20. Hi!

Wow, what BRAVE people you two are!! Getting a haircut in an unknown hairsalon? In a foreign country? Through a translator?? few, just the first gives me trouble. *cracks up* Glad it turned out well!

Yes I'm sure you must have loads to do and discover at the moment... Take your time settling in, you'll have plenty of time for the boards after that *grin*

Does it look like a place you're going to really enjoy then? I'm looking forward to your blog posts!

Nothing much going on my way, just the usual work & school routine... I need a holiday, a real one! Some place far away, a week, or two, or three... with nothing to do but explore and laze in the sun... *dreamy smile* Ah well, something will come up I'm sure.

  21. My mojo's back!! after more than a month it has finally returned! *happy little dance* What did it? Not my old favourites, not not freshly bought authors, not even Hugo. no, no, it was a confidential, as yet unpublished, well known to this board, author And now I'm fully immersed in The N
  22. Oh no, no, no... Dont jump! *laughs*

Will try not to disappoint you with my comments... *grin*

  23. haha, sounds like you honour fully your booklover title. Enjoy all your readings!

  24. Full on flattery? That's a low blow, but one which always works... you're forgiven *laughs*
