    You do know that that makes it all the more tempting right? And I just discovered something dramatic... spoiler tags dont work when you are quoting a message... only saw the first line but, yeah, I think it was enough *feels like crying* So another warning for anyone who hasn't read the book yet: do NOT quote ii's message to answer it

    Started this today and yes I can sort of see what you mean already ii... the style is sort of dry: not overdone, or forced, or artificial in any way. It makes it a tad uninviting at first... I think that links back to what you were saying about not warming immediately to the characters Roxi, as the author doesn't give us that much insight into their feelings to begin with, or at least doesn't wrap them up 'nicely' like lots of novels do... but I think in the long run it will make it all the more authentic.

    Ok, I didn't move on at all with my book, didn't have a minute for it today. But it's not really one I feel like reading in between buses during the week so it'll have to wait next We.

    Argh, I'm sooo behind on my reading plan! *laughs* I have 2 books in progress... But I'l try to finish them as soon as possible. In fact I'll get off line right now and try to finish one of them. Then hopefully the other can follow tomorrow/ sunday and I'll be ready by the end of the We...

    Yep, a bit different, but great!

     

    I dont think I've ever seen the cartoons actually so I'll have to get my hands on that book.

     

    I'm sure redecorating is a valid reason to move... though do take those incredibly efficient finnish workmen with you. My house has been under work for a couple of weeks, it's hell *laughs*

     

    Bruges should have been for fun, but I cancelled last minute. Actually I organised it last minute, but cancelled even later, if that makes sense. Hopefully there will be another, better planned opportunity soon.

     

    Where are you now? Back in Finland? Still out and about?

    Ah right, yes I have heard of them a lot but for some reason never was tempted... But that one sounds good. I dont suppose I can read it before the others? Would probably be a waste. mmm I'll have to look into that series. What would the first one be?

    That's weird, I had the same problem for years. Tried to read it several times but could never get into it. And then a few years ago I tried again and got completely hooked. Loved it! I never understood why...

    Oh, that sounds very intriguing! The kind of funny twist on the fairytales... What did you think of it? Is it worth looking out for?

    You have plenty of time to get loads of reading done Ben, no need to pressure yourself! Plus this is only a list compiled by the BBC... it's fun to compare results but there's no reason why it should dictate our choice of books I'm sure you've read and will read plenty of great books which aren't mentioned.

    And Harry Potter! I love the stuff but it kind of creeps me out to see that it is the regognisable element in everyone's bookshelves! As the spines are always the same it seems each time I see a photo on here my eyes are immediately drawn to that bright patch of colours which instinctively spell 'Harry Potter' *cracks up*

    Just ate the second half of the Hachis parmentier I'd started at lunch... And my stomach is rebelling Though given the state of the kitchen that freezer is in and the level of dust & paint concentration in the air, I'm not sure that should be blamed on the dish itself
