  1. thanks for the suggestions Ben! I've read His Dark materials several times, which is brilliant I dont know about the others as I dont have them and it's a bit short notice to get them... I'm thinking more of a mixed genre kind of marathon right now. Maybe a book for each of my favourite genres? I know it's not strictly speaking a marathon but it would be a way of getting myself back on track So maybe... Crime novels: the 1st Donna Leon which I've been meaning to re read Contemporary authors: La petite marchande de prose by Daniel Pennac Fantasy: The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J.K. Rowling Across cultures: The Bookseller of Kabul by Asne Seierstad EDIT: Or I could go to the library, pick the first 4 random (short, let's stay realistic) books which tempt me and read those? That might be fun. Or a disaster if I choose badly... *laughs*
  2. Which episode did you just see? I remember being really confused by the same thing but realising it was obvious in the next episode's recap... But I don't want to reveal too much in case I'm mistaken and you're still missing some info.
  3. Finished Passag
  4. Recently I've been outlining (with a pencil, very lightly I swear! ) quotes I like when I read... I don't use them for anything special though, unless in my sig here.
  5. Or rather next december *sighs* So many books Lexie, that's great!
  6. Sounds heavenly!
  7. Thanks Kehs! This has gone straight on my wishlist
  8. As they do every two weeks or so this year I'm on the american schedule and I've lost count of the number of 'breaks' there have been. Edit: Oh, I'd love to know what your guess is! But then knowing myself I'd probably let something slip without wanting to if you told me. *laughs*
  9. Brilliant! Such a clever initiative!
  10. Hello and welcome Yvonne! You english is fine.
  11. Mostly online because it's more convenient, I'm sure to find what I want and it's cheaper! In fact it's online for books I know I want to get and in bookshops for 'impulse' buys.
  12. Since I bravely resisted the lull of take out pasta*, soup and bread it is! But first a bread and chocolate snack. *just discovered a very powerful maketing strategy: make students work on a panzani case study for 5 hours straight and they're bound to run to the nearest pasta shop when they finally escape at dinnertime!
  13. Enjoy! And it's never too late

Oh dear, I'm trapped now aren't I ? *laughs* Actually given the price of lessons in Paris (yes, I did just research it) I'll have to pass for now...

Now now let's not get overly tecnical or I wont be able to keep up *pants* I'd love to discover a finnish author though. Sounds like a great idea!

Now what to get you? Hehe, I have an idea but I'm not quite sure about it... I'll have to give it some more thought.

How long do you think the post takes between France and Finland?

  15. Ah well, glad to have given you an occasion to indulge your sweet tooth! Sounds like a lovely remedy *laughs*
  16. Yeah, that was my reaction as well. Sorry Charm Apparently not, or you'd actually have been sick Chrissy... And let's not even delve into the 'lemon' test you're supposed to do before eating. *grabs the bucket from Charm*
  17. Oysters. And I'm definitely not trying them, ever. I realised last WE only that you're actually meant to eat them alive. That was an interesting moment to witness...

*in her most unconvinced voice* Full of energy? After torturing your non existent muscles and dealing with ghost pains ?? Right.

Well, so long as you send the finish language method along... I'm all for learning new languages! *cracks up*

  19. Oh, right. I have all the details I need here then, thanks! It sounds really interesting.
  20. I just read a wonderful book, Passag
  21. I had the same thought but then again... no. Definitely not possible. *hides her chocolate slab protectively behind her back*
  22. *laughs* That's a much more reasonable excuse than 'we need to take advantage of those last free moments to stuff ourselves'.
  23. Well that must just be a difference between countries then. For us pancakes are an essential part of Mardi gras.
  24. It is a christian tradition... During the 40 days before easter (the 'lent' period) you're meant to eat less, give up things like chocolate/ sweets/ cake/ maybe even meat... So on the day before lent starts you stock up on pancakes *laughs* Badly explained but that's basically it. Brave woman!
