  1. *frowns* This thread and the hyperactive Harry Potter discussion really isn't a good combination for my sanity. I've read a lot of HP fanfiction over the years, way too much. It's true that there are a lot of great stories in there, equally true that most of it is rubbish. But mostly, I've found it pathetically addictive. But I'm over it now, haven't thought of it for months. So I'm steering clear from here. You lot won't tempt me back into it.
  2. Ah well, it's always nice when these moods catch us isn't it? Keep going! *laughs*

As for me, bookwise there's not much unfortunately! I haven't read a thing all week and I don't feel like reviewing at the moment (The Giver and Waiting are still on hold)... I'm thinking of adding other culture related stuff on my blog, cause with only books I barely update it once or twice a month.

Other than that, all is good!

    'Night!

  3. Hi Roxi! How are things? You've been updating your blog at such a rythm these last few days that I can't keep up... Is is it the speed you are reading at at the moment, or just a lot of backlog reviews?

Hope you're having a great We!

  4. Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm still not too tempted by Audacity of Hope, but I'll keep it in mind.
  5. Happy endings? Nah, they're totally overrated! *cracks up* Ah well, I probably wouldn't have forgiven her if . So my bloodthirst does have limits
  6. Actually, I might get lynched for this but Aren't I blood thirsty today? *cracks up* EDIT: Just noticed the posts I'm responding to are on page 8... Obviously haven't been in this thread in a while *laughs* Apologies if it's redundant with newer posts.
  7. Thanks! Is The Audacity of Hope worth it? I cant say it tempts me at the moment as I see it as a much more political book.
  8. Hi! Thanks for the request *grin* I'm glad to hear that you are finally getting your jaw sorted. Lots of luck for tommorow!

  9. mmm that is true. According to an Indian friend though, all the events taken individually are perfectly believable... It's just a case of having them all happen to the same person for story purposes. Glad you enjoyed it!
  10. Hi Joe!
  11. Hi Roxi! Had a good easter We? I just replied to the Waiting thread, though my thoughts about it are rather jumbled at the moment. Any luck reviewing it?

  12. So... Waiting. I did finish it. And I was surprised by the ending. I'm not sure about perfect though. It just seems so anticlimatic, you know? And it certainly didn't make me like Lin any better. But it is the most realistic possible ending. I mean, it is what makes that book so powerful, isn't it? Showing things in such a simple, matter of fact, realistic, non sugar coated way? Up till the end there is no artificial attempt to make us like any of the characters, or the story. Just a window into how 'feelings' might develop in a world so sterilised of emotions as the one Lin and Mana lived in. So, maybe it IS the perfect ending after all, as in the only possible one. Hopefully I'll make more sense by the time I try to review it.
  13. *cracks up* I know I've been slow on this one but... I finished it friday. Unfortunately my internet connection was down during 4 days so I haven't been able to report yet I need food right now, but I'll be back later to report for duty *laughs* Yeah, that might prove tricky.
  14. Nice thread idea Ben! Not as thoughtful but here are a couple: And the one in my sig...
  15. Well, obviously! I have no idea what we're having, or doing yet.
  16. Ah well, give it a bit more time, I guess. Hopefully you'll feel better soon. :friends0:

  17. Oh, that doesn't sound like a very nice place to be in. :friends0: Are you still having trouble with your meds? I hope the sun lures yout soon! *grin*

  18. Hi Sarah! Just thought I'd drop by to see how you are... It's been a while since you updated your blog. Enjoying the spring too much? *grin*

  19. Great review Bee... This does sound ike a strange subject to expose young teens to. Or rather, I have nothing against treating mature young teens as adults and telling them/ discussing with them about such harsh subjects. It's part of growing up. But if an author is going to treat them like adults, she should do it all the way... And offer a book which truly explores the theme. Anyway, I haven't read this book, and probably wont now. Thanks!
  20. Ok, that's it. My resolve is crumbling. *scampers away from this highly dangerous forum section*
  21. I didn't know there was a sequel! But now you've put me off it... *laughs* Sequels by different authors are a bit of a gamble I think. I guess you can occasionally get some well written, funny stuff. But most of the time isn't it just a ploy to keep exploiting the good idea an author once had?
  22. Same here. I know I read it and really enjoyed it some years ago... But other than that my memories are very hazy. I don't think I'd have time for a re-read at the moment though. Too many new good books to get to! But I'll enjoy getting my memories refreshed in the reading circle thread.
  23. I have that on my wishlist as well. Might bump it up the list as I'm feeling in the mood for thrillers...

    Hi!

Only just got back home and am trying to wrap my head around the short story again... surprisingly difficult! *laughs*

    You still inspired?
