  1. haha, well without knowing what kind of person it is it isn't that easy *laughs* But I'll give it a shot: - if you want to go for safe and easy:books, the latest film you saw, your upcoming trip to england - for serious, probably depressing, conversation: any topic taken out of the day's paper's frontpage - for random: chocolate, things that bug you, twilight, favourite cookie varieties and their assorted drinks - for heart to hearts: life projects, TBR pile ... anything inspiring?
  2. Here's another: having ideas for blog posts but somehow never getting down to write them through
  3. Oh, I didn't know (or remember?) that Michelle, sorry. I'm certainly not trying to upset anyone... Just to rant my annoyance off and hopefully letting others do do as well *laughs* I'll be careful.
  4. Ooh, good one! I absolutely hate that too. Anything we can do to help? Maybe a brainstorming for potential discussion points?
  5. Ok, I'm afraid I'm going to be a mood spoiler/ whiner here so feel free to ignore me. I was reading the "What makes you happy?" thread and trying to come up with an answer but I'm really not in the mood for it... Instead I was wondering what are the small things which really bring you down... You know, the silly, random things which can spoil a few hours for you? (told you I wasn't in a cheerful mood didn't I?) The purpose isn't JUST to rant (though a little foot stomping never hurt anybody, did it?), but I think getting them out of our system might help! *laughs* So, I'll start. Two things which annoy the hell out of me are: - my television connection misteriously disapearing just for the end of a film... and reappearing for the generic (happens in 9/10 cases) - my mobile buzzing when I'm hoping for a call from a friend...only to discover an sms from my line provider Anyone else got silly things bugging them?
  6. Yeah, well there's the long term goals, life aspirations and other nicely put speeches... and then there's the instant motivators, right? *laughs* I probably should book mysef a plane ticket for somewhere far and exotic for september the 1st then
  7. Ah, well sounds like a perfect motivator
  8. I know, I know. Just kidding! It's always best to be prepared... *cracks up*
  9. Goodie, sounds like you've got everything under control. I joke around.. but yes, I will be going STRAIGHT back to work. I may even do some work in HK after my mom's visit is over, since the gov't sponsors spouses to work there. I started volunteering as quickly as possible in India, as I missed work a lot. I'm enjoying this sunny hiatus vacation thing I have going on in Singapore, but I really do like work and I'll go back as soon as I feel like I want to, or when I get back to the States.. whichever comes first. What sort of work would you do in HK? It's great that you have the possibility, yet no obligation... So you can just get back to it when you want. The added bonus being you'll appreciate the leisure time even more by comparison! *grin*
  10. Good, I can probably reciprocate that. Detailing the cost of those cups of champagne you'll need during the trip? *laughs* Nah, it'd probably be nice for afew days and then: "are you sure there's not a job for you here?" mmm will there be cookies?
  11. Nice! But just wait for the payback once you return to the states... Actually, are you planning on starting work again immediately?
  12. Oookay. Let's not get in over our heads shall we? *cracks up* *laughs* Actually I'm sure it would work, or more along the lines of "your the one's who upped and left and rented the family home out!", you know, the whole guilt trip But I'm not sure peaceful, lounging, reading days would be guaranteed once there. *sigh*
  13. Hey, I was in a strategy group work on the highly fascinating sector of archives... Any distraction was welcome
  14. Or parents living in the faraway place? Might that work? *looks doubtful*
  15. You know, I really love this place... When I saw this google page this morning I thought: oh nice logo, but what the hell is it?... I must check the BCf google page thread later. ... and here the answer is
  16. What??? If it's true, it's ridiculous!
  17. Great plan! How did I not think of it?? I'll join you in a few minutes, just a few minor details to take care of...
  18. Wow, that's a very touching story Charm. It's great that he can enjoy these books through audio versions!
  19. *hands tiramisu over* Of course, people with crumby shirts aren't getting any
  20. I haven't seen any either! Can I offer Tiramisu instead? *grin*
  21. Can I join the club? The last full book I read was The Giver by Lois Lowry, a month ago. Since then nothing has caught my attention... I've tried easy re-reads, I've tried 'culture' and even tried Hunchback as I thought a french classic might be different enough from what I've been reading lately to tickle my mojo. No luck though. Right now I'm slowly worming my way through a re-read of a comic book... How much lower can I fall ?? *NOT laughing*
  22. Haha, e-mail updates are evil! Cause you go check that new chapter and then you think of that other story but it hasn't been updated in months so you start brwosing for another one and... Yeah, the motions are up again *cracks up*
  23. How are you finding them? I've been tempted into trying the series by a friend and have been waiting for the 1st to arrive for nearly two weeks Hopefully it'll be worth it once it gets here!
  24. *licks lips* Oh yes, microwaved to just the right temperature with a bit of butter to rehydrate them? The best! *cracks up* Stew sounds good.
  25. Same here... except with pasta. *laughs* Oh well, you can never have too much left-over pasta... right?
