  1. Hello and welcome Bookologist!
  2. I can imagine! It does sound interesting, if a bit too sad.
  3. I have to get this! I just know I'm going to love it! *grin* Thanks for the review Janet! Very nicely written!
  4. Mine as well! Now I want to get it all the more. But I must not, repeat not surrender to the amazon impulse
  5. Chocolate and goat cheese... Loads of it
  6. I went through a phase of being 'addicted' to Mary Higgins Clark novels. Didn't find it very healthy *laughs* That one looks a bit different though... thanks for the review!
  7. Hi Jo! Great, I'm sure you'll love it! It is a very emotional read, especially towards the end... But it's wonderful. Let me know what you think.

  8. Oh, I haven't gotten round to this yet, what with the world book day book swap and all... Must get my hands on The Loop! Edit: Just ordered a 1 cent copy (+2,99€ for postage grrr) from amazon marketplace... The speed at which you can place an order is positively evil! *laughs*
  9. So... so far you have recomendations for: Heart shaped box by Joe Hill Jane Austen - Pride and Prejudice Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen The 39 Steps - John Buchan No country for old men and I suggested The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time in another thread... Not sure we're helping you to narrow down the options here

Right. Well hopefully we can all sleep until a decent hour tomorrow!

It is. And it makes time fly so quick that I feel like christmas is barely over... Whereas people are already planning their summer holidays *laughs*

Ok, I'm off to bed. Might squeeze in a bit of Ha Jin be fore that.

    'Night!

    *kisses*

  11. Chimera

Yeah, I wondered how you plucked the energy to do it. Figured you were just trying to pass on your misery to later risers *laughs*

They do! To think some people actually wake up early on purpose... Cant figure it out.

    Oh, I'm flaterred *laughs*

I'm off work for a week, ten days counting easter monday. Unfortunately not for holydays though, contrary to what everyone at work keeps believing. *pouts* It's back to school for me... I still haven't figured out which weeks I prefer.

    *kisses*

  12. As I said in another thread I'm only half way through... But I'm pretty sure I'm going to hate one of the characters soon. He hasn't done anything, much, yet but I I dont think that will last long... Wonder if the same as you
  13. Chimera

Ouch, that word actually hurts so early in the day!

Well it's 7:46am and I'm meant to be gone in ummm 9mn now but I'm still in bed, under to warm comfortable blanket *shudders at the impending cold*

That's fine, get to it when you have time/ feel in the mood for it. Was just checking it hadnt fallen in a limbo *laughs*

Survive those last moments before the We kicks in! :P

    *kisses*

  14. Chimera

Oh yes of course, I do know how to drop intelligent sounding words... that's at least one thing business schools are good about. It's just not as confortable as sitting back *laughs*

Inhumain seems the only word for it *cracks up* You have all my sympathy!

By the way, had any look at Au bohneur des ogres yet?

    *kisses*

  15. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Ben. I'm sure you'll make your aunt very proud! I wish there was more I could say. Sending you lots of :friends0: and positive thoughts...

  16. Chimera

Ah well, I can understand busy *laughs*

*cracks up* good technique... I guess it's like that in most schools really, probably mine as well but I havn't needed it (yet)... Some people would argue that it's all part of the learning to be a good manager, namely persuasion skills, process. ;)

Well I didn't actually have to say anything... As a 'stagiaire' I was really only there to be in the loop and get dumped the odd jobs such as translations. *sigh* I do live in dread that they will end up asking for a well argumented opinion though...

    *kisses*

  17. Chimera

    Hey!

Oh no, doubting your abilities are you? Well it's good that you'll be able to set another date... i'm not sure I understand how your uni works (we have one set of dates per year... fail an exam you'll just have to wait 6 months or a year to take it again... and you certainly cant decide when suits you best *laughs*) but good for you! And now you have some less hectic days to look forward to I guess...

Had a good day, though very long and boring. Conference calls are evil things, honestly: you cant see who you are talking to, people drop on and off the line without warning, and everyone's always waiting for the others to talk... makes for long, dragged over meetings. Oh well.

And I was disapointed not to find photos in my mail! *pouts*

    *kisses*

  18. Ok, I'm way behind then... I'm only just about to start part 2 Just thought I'd mention it in case it influences my way of seeing things in my last post. And I nearly made the quoting mistake again
  19. Ok so I'll try to get back in the flow of this discussion... I'm not sure I agree with you two on the likeable/ unlikeable characters. I dont have a problem with Manna at all as she doesn't seem to be imposing anything... Yes she's 'bold' and pushes Lin forward but like you said she's just fallen in love. And she's in a very difficult position as well... It's Lin I find more difficult to connect to. I understand him and I sympathise with the position he's in, but he just seems so undecisive and so disconnected from the impact of his decisions on others around him! He admits to it himself: at one point he says he had never realised Shuyu had feelings of her own... and at another that he only ever considered his relationship with Manna from his point of view, not hers. Maybe it will change later on but at the moment I really feel for both women and wish he'd make a decision one way or another. But then, maybe that's the way he's been brought up and Manna brings about a more feeling side of him... I mean the way he speaks about Shuyu at times really makes her seem like a utility he's needed at one point and can let go once she's served her use. I cant remember the exact words but at some point he says that things have changed and divorcing her would be easier because his parents have died so she's 'only taking care of their baby now'... I know he never married her out of love but you could expect him to have a little more empathy or at least gratitude. But I definitely agree on your point about the lack of feelings in their world. And like I said I think maybe to start with Lin is very much a product of that world but his relationship with Manna makes him open up more. What I find very strange is the dualcy in the way everyone deals with their relationship: an 'official' relationship is unimaginable and there are strict boundaries which they cant overstep but at the same time everyone knows that they are in all ways except 'abnormal' a couple... And they dont do anything to prevent it, or show real signs of disaproving. They even treat Manna as if she were Lin's concubine... In fact it goes back to the lack of feelings: there is no feeling or real moral idea behind the issue. It's all about respecting the rules, keeping up a flimsy front with them... So long as they dont break a rule in the book they'll be fine. But the day they are seen together one inch outside the fence they'll be ruined. Did that rant make sense? *laughs*
  20. Chimera

Oh, no! I've put everything back into place now. So it'll just have to wait till the end of june. Not looking forward to it. Oh well.

    Night!

  21. Chimera

I'll survive *laughs* Don't worry about it, I've already forgotten whatever it was I unwillingy read, seriously! :P

Ooooh I really admire you for this. Cause I'm supposed to be doing the exact same thing, but it seems I'm no better at that type of diet as any other... The house has just been fully repainted and refloored (what? of course that means something!) so we had to move everything around. Since we'll have to empty it completely next summer anyway the theory was that we'd take that opportunity to throw half the stuff away right now... But I somehow ended up with one more shelf full of books when I'd finished putting everything back in *cracks up*

So good luck with the diet! How are you doing so far?

    *kisses*

  22. Hi Louise! I finally posted The Camel Bookmobile out to you today. Sorry for the wait!

  23. Yes I'm running away from these dangerous grounds as well *laughs*
  24. Yes, there should be some protection against this terrible loophole! But I'm sure you didn't really understand the book or were just trying to mislead us... anyway I only saw it quickly so, I cant have read it right uh?
  25. Do resist, please do! Honestly there's nothing interesting in there, not even worth thinking about *looks as convincing as she can*
