  1. I'll say! Lots of stuff coming out of San Diego Comiccon today, including a new trailer, and it all looks new and fresh! Looking forward to this!
  2. ^ It was very uncomfortable last night. I don't like the heat, but can usually stick it out but last night wasn't very pleasant at all. Hoping for a few cooler days and nights this week...
  3. Three pints of beer! (it was very nice beer!)
  4. I completely understand the 'dark film' comment. I don't understand why films are so dark in the cinema. The Force Awakens was dreadful, you couldn't see any detail when Rey was exploring the crashed Star Destroyer, but on Blu-ray it was fine.
  5. Rivers of London is once again 99p on Kindle... You will be a fool not to read it!
  6. Spirited Away For the first time in quite a long time, and it's been far too long! I may have to go on a Ghibli retrospective now!
  7. Well, I've been putting it off for years, as there is no new content out there to read* but I finally started The Chrysalids this week. I'm now nearly half way through, having done most of that in one sitting, and I don't want this book to end - I've not enjoyed a book this much for ages! *Well, there is some, but it is not supposed to be that great!
  8. Thanks for that! I've been looking at this series for a while now and wondering if it was worth a punt; downloaded now and I will give it a try!
  9. Two points, though - Firstly, the book in question may be out of copyright (which I don't suspect is the case, but it could be) and secondly, regardless of the above, I don't believe copyright precludes fair use for commentary or review purposes.
  10. That's still on my to-read list!
  11. The Lord of the Rings? Pretty safe content wise, but not a children's book.
  12. I suspect the characters who had less to do in this film will probably have more prominent roles in the next film.
  13. Ah yes, the one day a year we get to celebrate 5 good films and 4 poor ones!
  14. I am no expert, but the Author's Copyright Edition comment may be significant. I'd suggest Googling that to see what it means. You may have a rare book, or you may not, but that looks encouraging to me! Good luck!
  15. So you're a Steve Rogers fan, I'm guessing?
  16. I thought that was one thing they handled quite well; the characters all got some screen time without any one character dominating.
  17. I don't remember when I last bought a book, past odd Kindle purchases, but today I picked up a print copy of Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor by Steven Moffat. I've heard a lot of good things about this, and am looking forward to reading it!
  18. So on the first day of my holiday where the weather is acceptable, do I get out in the fresh air and go for a nice long walk? No, I sit in a dark room for three hours watching people hit each other. Yep, it was Avengers: Infinity War Major spoilers ahead!
  19. I didn't care for the prequels at all, but The Force Awakens was fun and Rogue One was pretty good as well, but The Last Jedi just blew it all out of the window again. Looking forward to seeing the new Avengers film, though!
  20. ^ if that is the musical version of The War of the Worlds, it is very good, but the book is different and a lot better!
  21. Next month, I believe (this is how apathetic I am towards Star Wars these days; I don't even know - or really care - when the net film is out!).
  22. ^ I watched it for the second time on Sunday. I didn't find it as jarring as the first viewing, and having watched it again I can now see why they made some of the choices they did, but I couldn't shake a feeling of apathy whilst I watching it.
