  1. That should really be called NEW Doctor Who's Greatest Moments!
  2. A quarter of the way through and this book still has to develop a plot, at the moment it's like reading a chase scene from Scooby-Doo, but with wizards and waifs!
  3. Thanks gals! I thought that was the case, but the cover plate threw me somewhat!
  4. Sorry atticjnr, I meant to get back to you on this before now, but he put them all on e-bay, I'm afraid! (I think the sales are on-going until this weekend, so check them out on there!).
  5. I'm getting used to it, to be honest. The only thing I've seen in recent years are a couple of lunar eclipses. Comets, meteor shows et al, don't get a look in with our weather. Having said all that, I can see the false hope of blue sky outside my window . . .
  6. Taken an interesting photo today? Post it here! Some flowers I saw on the way home . . . [Edited in PSP of course!]
  7. As with all the other great astronomical events for the last forty-odd years, the weather is conspiring against me again - the forecast for tonight is total cloud cover with added rain later . . .
  8. I'm a teenage girl, hiding from powerful magicians in dark tunnels. (And I never thought I'd find myself typing that . . .).
  9. I think the thing for me is I don't read a lot of fantasy, but I've been lured into reading this by a number of different people who have said it's really good. So far, though, it just seems to be living up to what I would say is the stereotype for a by-the-numbers fantasy book.
  10. I haven't posted this in the JA 2008 section as I don't want to run into spoilers, but I've just picked up a copy of Persuasion and when I started thumbing through it, its original end-plates suggest it is coupled with Northanger Abbey. Are the two related, and if they are is it preferable to have read one before the other, and in which order?
  11. Just started reading The Magicians' Guild this evening. 50 pages in and it's all a little predicatble so far, hopefully it will pick up soon!

The BBC are reporting that Freddie will be fit to play and that Ramprakash might be recalled.
  13. It so odd to read that phrase without it being applied to Doctor Who . . .
  14. The film is a brilliant piece of animation, well directed and beautifully scored, but it is very dark for a children's film, with some pretty complex issues as well.

    And our batsman didn't show up . . .
  16. Sorry, completely missed this until now! Thanks for that, I will have to pop over one day and check it out (is the gamming shop still there?). I haven't been around Fratton for years, but the book shops I remember were along the top end of Fawcett Road, on the left as you are walking down from Fratton itself. There were a couple there, as I remember, but it's been about 18 years since I was last there. Cheers! I don't get over that way very often (I'm limited to public transport), but I will bear that in mind!
  17. Diamonds in a Cloudy Sky - very cool, I now have new wallpaper!
  18. I don't know if they buy fixed quantities or remainders etc, but they only tend to carry books for a limited time anyway, so I'm not surprised it has gone.
  19. I've just checked, and it doesn't look as though the Bookpeople are carrying this anymore (you can still get a box set of 10 original novels for
  20. I believe the Bookpeople are still knocking this out for
  21. Joss Whedon: 'Angel could beat Edward Cullen' Made me smile, anyway!
  22. I quite like Sin City, although I can understand why others may not. I've never walked out of the cinema, even when the film has been dreadful - such as The Avengers or Batman and Robin. Recently, I've not been going to the cinema very much - I tend to buy films when they get to the
