  1. Carpathian Series by Christine Feehan Dark Prince Synopsis Raven Whitney is a psychic who has used her gift to help the police track down a serial killer. Now she is determined to escape the glare of recent publicity for the peace and quiet of the Carpathian Mountains. Despite her own emotional fatigue, Raven finds herself connecting psychically to another wounded individual somewhere close by. Prince Mikhail Dubrinsky is the leader of his people but, as his ancient Carpathian race grows ever closer to extinction, he is close to giving in to the heavy weight of loneliness and despair. Then a female voice enters his mind and tries to console him. Intrigued, Mikhail becomes obsessed with finding this unusual human female. From the moment their minds touch, Raven and Mikhail form a connection. But there are those who incorrectly view all Carpathians as vampires, and are determined to give their extinction a helping hand .. This is the first in a rather large adult series about vampires. It's set in the Carpathian mountains making the general atmosphere of the book dark and gothic. Each book concentrates on one main character from a large family of vampires and how they find their mate. I liked the characters in this installment and enjoyed reading about their relationship, even though Prince Mikhail was rather dominating, the character of Raven still remained strong. The storyline was interesting with plenty of action which kept it moving on nicely. The start of a great little series that I will definitely continue with. 8/10 Dark Desire Synopsis Seven years ago, Dr Shea O'Halloran experienced an unexpected and horrendous pain unlike anything she had ever known. It felt as if she were being tortured. Eventually the pain disappeared, but Shea never forgot. She has since devoted her life to trying to understand the cause of the rare genetic blood disorder that is slowly killing her. The answers to some of Shea's questions start to reveal themselves when she is approached by two men, who accuse her of being a vampire. Shea runs for her life and - following a feeling she can't explain - her desperate wanderings lead her to Romania. The ancient one known as Jacques Dubrinsky can explain. Seven years ago, Jacques was captured, tortured and buried alive by several humans and a Carpathian betrayer. The years of extreme pain and lack of sustenance that followed have nearly driven Jacques insane. He has been using what is left of his powers to psychically draw Shea to the region. But is Shea to be his healeror his prey? Dark Desire wasn't just as good as the first book for me. I think it was because I didn't really like the main characters as much. Still a good storyline continuing on from the first book and I still ended up enjoying it. 7/10 Dark Gold Synopsis Alexandria Houton will sacrifice anything to protect her little brother. But when they both encounter an unspeakable evil in the swirling San Francisco mists, Alex can only pray for their deliverance...And out of the darkness swoops Aidan Savage, a being more powerful and more mysterious than any other creature of the night. This ageless Carpathian male has saved them both from a hideous fate. But is Aidan truly Alexandria's salvation...or her ultimate betrayer? And if she surrenders to Aidan's savage, unearthly seduction is Alexandria in danger of sacrificing more than her life? This book moves the scene from the Carpathians to San Francisco, which kinda takes the gothic element out of it. I liked the characters of Aiden and Alex though and am lookin g forward to seeing if they pop up in future books. This has been my favourite so far. 9/10 Please note! These books contain expicit sex scenes and are most definitely NOT young adult!
  2. Yay! Good for you. Can't wait to see how you get on with it and if you contract the kindilitis disease! Beware, there's no known cure ..
  3. This sounds just what I need, already on my wishlist thanks to Claire and now you too! Did you get it on kindle? *goes off to own thread to write book thoughts* Mwhahahaha!..... hahahaha! .... *cough/choke!*
  4. I agree wholeheartedly with Kell on the Kelley Armstrong series! A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness Link here is a fantastic read, also you might like The Physic Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe (who is a descendant of the Salem witches) another great read enjoyed by many here.
  5. I've read quite a bit recently, some good & some not so good. I'll list them on my book thread. I've also bought/downloaded so much I've lost track Anyhoo ..(moving swiftly on) .. I am currently enjoying the Prophecy series by F E Heaton, reading the second half of book 3
  6. Definitely! It's the best in the series IMO although I know others like some of the next ones better Did you know that Deaver has written the new James Bond movie? Should be brilliant!
  7. Wow frankie! You are on a book buying roll .... I'm so proud! I hope you enjoy them all hun
  8. Watchmen It was that good ... I fell asleep
  9. Ah-hah! Spellbound is already on my wishlist, your teasing and tempting wasn't necessary this time! Uh? What did I do?? Didn't know about these two though .... my bank manager thanks you both Note to self: Stay out of Claire's book thread.
  10. FANTASTIC book! I finished Dark Gold by Chiristine Feehan this morning then read All in Time by Ciana Stone today. Not sure what to read next.
  11. Pickle this isn't funny any more, you're as bad as chesil ... my wishlist can't take any more!!!! Pah! Serve you right! Everytime I go on your thread I see something I want, your turn now! MWahahahaha!!!
  12. Oh for heaven's sake! What are you trying to do to me woman, bankrupt me? I'll just have to go and add yet another series to my wishlist. Why don't you take a break from reading? Go learn to kite board, or pilot a light aircraft or something!
  13. *gasp!* ..... But .... but....... hmph! ...
  14. Insidious Far fetched rubbish with god awful music
  15. I finished Dark Prince by Christine Feehan and the next in the series Dark Desire. I have now moved on to the third in the series Dark Gold
  16. Well that's just great. Thanks guys, another series that I know I'd love and have to get my hands on. It's on my wishlist but now it has moved right up there. Can't you two take a reading hiatus or something and give my bank balance a break?? *stomps away grumbling*
  17. Well if it were me I'd go for the kindle ones. The Hunger Games is supposed to be fantastic and I reckon you'd re-read them. OR you could just take the library ones, see how you like the first book then go for the kindle version if you get hooked Oh dear, I know that feeling. I prefer complete silence but have learned over the years how to tune out my surroundings. Still hard though unless I'm completely engrossed in the book. Have you thought of earplugs or sticking a set of headphones in with some calm music? I'm well over half way through Dark Prince by Christine Feehan and really enjoying it
  18. Nope, me neither It's a disease I tell you ... and it's out to get us all!!! Mwahahaha .... Me? I offered myself up as a sacrifice to save all your souls, I must download and read, it's a burden I gladly carry for you lot! no probs VF I would say though that I've read negative reviews about the covers with the built in light. They apparently clip into the kindle somehow and can cause it to freeze, they're also bloody expensive! I bought 2 covers from Amazon, both of which I got for £30. There are loads on there, starting from as little as a fiver. I then bought a separate clip on light, much better I feel
  19. Yip, the only difference is the 3G. I have the £111 one with wifi which suits me fine. I can't ever see myself downloading a book if I'm out and I always browse the books on Amazon on my laptop. If I want one I just use the wifi home hub and send it to my kindle from Amazon, it only takes a few seconds to download a book, it's great!
  20. Oh I wouldn't worry, it can hold over 3000 books, loads of room for your free classics ... go on, go on... you know you want to
  21. Yeah it was me, I know people who do download new titles and don't pay a penny. Like I said, I like a bargain but I won't steal them. I only get my books from Amazon, if they're free there, it's usually to get you interested in an author so you then buy more which I do. It doesn't mean I won't buy new titles or paperbacks, I guess I'm just enjoying the bargains at the minute! Unfortunately my tree book buying hasn't dwindled much, my bank balance still groans under the pressure .. I did have an epiphany the other day though, I decided not to buy any more books this year and just read what I own .... pah! Yeah right, like that lasted long ... I bought 3 paperbacks the next day!
  22. Yes do! I know you like YA too, and I think you would enjoy it
  23. I really enjoyed it Well I can't see me working my way through ALL the cheap and free ones - at least not this year! Doesn't matter, my daughter has hijacked my kindle to read some of the cheap YA ones I downloaded so I'm reading tree again I will definitely check out Spiders Bite though, you know me - I love a good series
  24. It did a bit yes, I took to it straight away. I loved both the main characters I've put it in Kookie's room, when she gets her mojo back I think she'll love it!
  25. The Body Finder by Kimberley Derting Synopsis courtesy of Waterstone's Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend, she is more disturbed by her "power" to sense dead bodies - or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world...and the imprints that attach to their killers. Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift, but now that a serial killer is terrorizing her small town Violet realizes she might be the only person who can stop him. Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet find the murderer - and Violet is unnerved by her hope that Jay's intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she's falling in love, Violet is getting closer to discovering a killer...and becoming his prey herself. The Body Finder is a great little YA book which veers away from the usual vampires, werewolves and demons, but still has a supernatural twist. It is mainly a YA romance with a secondary story of a serial killer who preys on teenage girls. It handles this topic brilliantly, no gore but enough of the fear factor to make young girls think twice about who they trust. It is well written, with interesting characters and had me hooked within the first 20 pages. I will definitely be getting the next in the series. 9/10
