Ah! I didn't go back that much! My argument was very much viable in itself
-
I went back to check things and found this: Hm... You, Nollaig, said it was last weekend, but Athena's saying she's not going to be able to participate this month. So is Athena thinking it's this weekend but it was actually last weekend? And damn proud of it
-
I totally thought last weekend was the read-a-thon weekend and that's why I recorded my progress! (I thought I'd read on Sunday, too, but didn't.) So is this the read-a-thon weekend, now?

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Stupid warm and rain. I miss the snow.

Oh man, I'm so sorry for your loss, Anna! :(

Catching up with Wire. I'm now going to watch the final episode of season 3.

Bridget Jones is the best I loved how she'd matured a bit in the last movie. I like her quirks and goofiness, but I liked it how they'd matured her, just as one can when getting older. I can't wait to read the book!!!

Welcome back! I'm glad your mojo's doing great now, and that it's helping you with insomnia! Insomnia can be a b*Tch, I can imagine! Awwww, what lovely cuddlebugs!

Books You're Looking Forward To In 2016

Happy times ahead!! Oh you're on a book buying ban? Oh rats! Good luck with it! I've reserved a copy from the library because I couldnt' decide whether to buy a hardback now or wait for a paperback (which would compliment the other paperback editions I have of the other books in the series). I'll buy my own copy eventually. Will probably wait for the paperback. -
Hurrah!! It's a great novel! I'm so sorry to hear about this! I hope your dog will kick big C's ass and survive! Oh bless Reuben, thank god he's okay! Give him a big cuddle for me, would you? Back to book business: just finished The Absent One by Jussi Adler-Olsen. I'm tempted to start the next book in the series, but I'm also tempted to read something else.

I hope so too! I have a feeling I will. Huzzaaaah!

49. The Absent One by Jussi Adler-Olsen Goodreads: In The Keeper of Lost Causes, Jussi Adler-Olsen introduced Detective Carl Mørck, a deeply flawed, brilliant detective newly assigned to run Department Q, the home of Copenhagen’s coldest cases. The result wasn’t what Mørck—or readers—expected, but by the opening of Adler-Olsen’s shocking, fast-paced follow-up, Mørck is satisfied with the notion of picking up long-cold leads. So he’s naturally intrigued when a closed case lands on his desk: A brother and sister were brutally murdered two decades earlier, and one of the suspects—part of a group of privileged boarding-school students—confessed and was convicted. But once Mørck reopens the files, it becomes clear that all is not what it seems. Looking into the supposedly solved case leads him to Kimmie, a woman living on the streets, stealing to survive. [...] Thoughts: As mentioned above ^, this is the second novel in the Department Q -series. I liked this one better than the first book. I don't think I'm much used to thrillers where the criminals are introduced to the reader in the beginning, and then we follow the detectives trying to figure out whodunnit, and all the while we also get to see how the criminals are coping with their crimes and the aftermath and whatnot. I don't think this type of narration is my most favorite, when it comes to thrillers at least, but I'm getting used to it with this series. I liked the crimes and storylines better than in the last book, and I was happy to read more about Mørck and Assad. 4/5

Quite accidentally today turned into a read-a-thon day. I was waiting to hear from a friend, and while waiting, I picked up my current read, and now I've just finished it. I don't know if I'll continue tomorrow, but we'll see. Saturday: 279 pages of The Absent One by Jussi Adler-Olsen (finishing the novel) ..................68 pages of Kellari by Maaria Päivinen

I hope this last novel is easier on your soul I've started reading the second novel in the Department Q series by Jussi Adler-Olsen. Googling... The English title is called The Absent One.

Same difference We'll see if I can read it before I have to return it to the library I wouldn't hold my breath, mojo's been stupid lately -
Hehe I can recommend it! I'm now on season 5. I don't want it to end... .. And I only started watching it maybe 3 weeks ago.
-
Yeah, I like the interaction between the two leads in the book. I'd love to see how it translates in film I've not watched The Killing, unfortunately. I'm not sure if it's been shown here in Finland. But thanks for the heads-up, I'll see if I'll like it if an opportunity presents itself! Yay! I would definitely recommend this as a first Finnish novel. (Sofi Oksanen's Purge would be very high on that list, too.) Oh crap... The book I referred to is Three Wishes. The publishing year for that on the library's website was 2016 (I checked it just now to see if I'd imagined the whole thing), but the book was initially published a decade ago, as I can now see from your wikipedia reference. I guess the edition I reserved was this year's edition and that's why it said it was a 2016 book. Damn! I really thought she'd published a novel earlier this year In other news, I went to visit the Salvation Army yesterday and bought a copy of The Bonesetter's Daughter by Amy Tan. I was pretty sure it would be on a few book challenges of mine, but it wasn't Never mind, I've been wanting to read something by Amy Tan for a while now! It was only 1,50€ and the money went to charity

Oh wow, I didn't know there was a movie! I definitely want to watch it/them. Especially as I've just googled the movie info and Nikolaj Lie Kaas plays the role of Carl, and he is one of my most favorite Danish actors. So handsome Thanks! I'm still very hung up on last weekend And I hope you will be sorely tempted to try out the Rabbit Back book
-
I've somehow missed your earlier review on the Ove book! I'm glad I caught it now. So happy you liked the book so much Ove was such a great character. I want to re-read the book at some point

The 4th Bridget Jones book called Bridget Jones's Baby, by Helen Fielding. I only just found out about it!!! -
And now there's a fourth book out?! I only just found out Here's the Amazon bit: 8.45 P.M. Realise there have been so many times in my life when have fantasised about going to a scan with Mark or Daniel: just not both at the same time. Before motherhood, before marriage, Bridget, with biological clock ticking very, very loudly, finds herself unexpectedly pregnant at the eleventh hour: a joyful pregnancy which is dominated, however, by a crucial but terribly awkward question – who is the father? Mark Darcy: honourable, decent, notable human rights lawyer? Or Daniel Cleaver: charming, witty, notable fudgewit? 9.45 P.M. It’s like they’re two halves of the perfect man, who’ll spend the rest of their lives each wanting to outdo the other one. And now it’s all enacting itself in my stomach. In this gloriously funny, touching story of baby-deadline panic, maternal bliss, and social, professional, technological, culinary and childbirth chaos, Bridget Jones – global phenomenon and the world’s favourite Singleton – is back with a bump.

Emotional Geology is the only book by Linda Gillard which I've read so far, but I absolutely loved it! I hope you will love it, too! I've not heard of the book by Veronica Henry that you two are speaking of, but oddly enough I have her How to Find Love in a Book Shop borrowed from the library! Have you read that one? -
Maybe

It's snowing! Helsinki got its first snow on Wednesday, and it stayed on the ground. It's so early for Helsinki! It's unbelievable, but I love it!
