  1. I'm currently reading the fourth book, I think I'm about half way through. I'm going to have to say that so far it's not as good as the other three. It's just same old same old, and there's no deepness to it.
  2. Apparently I wasn't done with book buying for the year... I saw an ad for a sale at the book store, and because I got early off work today, I decided to see what they had to offer. I got two book for -40%, so 7,75€ each: Upstairs at the Party by Linda Grant A Trick I Learned from Dead Men by Kitty Aldridge Both of the titles sounded really familiar and so I thought I must have them on my wishlist, and I was also sure I'd read reviews on both of the novels, written by someone on here. When I checked on my mobile, there was not a single mention of either of these books on the forum! I have no idea why I thought I'd heard of them on here.... Maybe they are titles I've seen on the library's website I was intrigued by both of the books and bought them anyways. I truly hope these are the last books I will have bought this year! Edit: By the way, there was also a copy of one of the two Dexter books I still need to buy to have the whole set, but it was the wrong size (I prefer the smaller paperback instead of the large), so I didn't buy it! : I'd rather wait till I find the right edition, or then order them online.
  3. I also watched a Finnish comedy on Sunday, and Just Like Heaven.
  4. I've just bought a ticket to a new Finnish rock festival, I only bought a ticket for one day, because all the bands I want to see are on Friday. I will be seeing Rammstein for the first time ever 9.6.2017!! I never thought this would happen... They've been to Finland before but I couldn't make it back then. Now I'm an adult with my own money and I can come and go as I please and I've already asked my Boss to get the day off Rammstein!!!
  5. Awww that's a pity I think you ought to treat yourself to a bit of book retail therapy
  6. I understand how it was tricky to try and rate the book but I think you gave it a rather fair try! Thank you for that I know that a rating doesn't tell you much about what a certain book is like, but I was just curious to hear if it was possible to rate it somehow, in your opinion I have the book (I actually have both the Finnish and the English copy) so I'm going to read it at some point, but I've been very intimidated by the lenght of it, and the descriptions and songs and endless meandering
  7. This came out of nowhere
  8. I watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. I liked it.
  9. Oh yes please, that would be great! It was a sucky year in a number of ways, the only thing that made the year was getting the job and maintaining the apartment, but otherwise... Sonovagun I hope you have a grand year 2017, as well, dear chalie!
  10. Off to Christmas sauna! :) Merry Christmas everyone! xo

  11. To be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion there was only one answer to your question and I thought it was rather obvious: of course one needs to watch the rest of the series before diving in! I found it rather alarming that you even had to ask...! Okay, I will say this much: I won't confirm or deny I'll let you find out the details and results on your own (Have you reached season 4 By now? Oh, that reminds me: having watched the new season and having talked to you and Kylie so much about GG has made me want to re-watch the series and I've now watched the first 4 episodes. It's been a long time since I've last watched the whole series, seasons back to back! ) Hm, do you want to know for sure or not? I will put it in a spoiler. So it's yes if Paris is still in after high school and no if she's not: Oh yes, indeed Pretty odd but so cool! It's funny how things change when one ages: when I was a kid, I could relate to Rory the most and I couldnt't understand Emily at all. These days, I will follow Lorelai more closely and some things about Rory annoy me to highest heaven, and I understand Emily in a whole different way, and I find Lorelai and Emily's relationship the most interesting one, even though I used to find it so uninteresting before. Well no, I shouldn't say uninteresting... But I used to sigh when Emily came in ... Now I look forward to seeing her Oh and a general note: it's so sad re-watching GG, and seing Richard come in. Rip, Edward Herrmann!
  12. In hindsight, I should've told her to just call me anyways. I didn't get a call this week either, so I guess I'm okay! Although I might call the center next week and ask them to send me the results, anyway, just to be sure. Yes, one would think they would call either way... Or at least that's how most people would probably prefer it. However, she did say that she'd call IF there was something wrong with me... So at least I know that if there wasn't, she wouldn't call. I've also not bothered this month... As when I did bother, and nothing happened, I decided not to stress about it anymore and just try and enjoy life. Maybe I'll try again in January...
  13. I would also recommend The Handmaid's Tale
  14. Merry Christmas, everyone! I'm visiting my parents in my hometown and we've had Christmas dinner and now we are chilling a bit, watching TV, digesting our food. Sauna's next!
  15. You, too Jänet! Let's send the cows flying with the amazing books that come our way! And you, too, pontalba! Let's hope 2017 will be a great reading year, and a much, much better year than 2016 in general! *fingers crossed*
  16. I used to be the same way! I would watch Sliding Doors and Girls Just Want to Have Fun and such like time after time! And I'm lazy about watching movies to begin with, these days... But I dare say, once you make the decision to watch the movie and watch for the first few minutes, you'll grow into it quickly
  17. I'm so glad the disruptive (?) narrative didn't get in your way of finishing the book this time and enjoying it so much! I do wish you'd watch the movie soon, I'd like to hear how well you thought the chosen actors suited the characters of the novel Such a great movie!
  18. I hope you have a great reading year in 2017! And I like it that you're going to go with your mood in books more in 2017, than in 2016. I hope you'll still feel like taking part in read-a-thons, by maybe just reading the books that you feel like reading during the read-a-thon weekends
  19. I've read and enjoyed Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood, but Alias Grace wasn't all that great in my opinion, and I haven't felt like trying another books of hers... But The Heart Goes Last seems interesting. I'm the same: But this is also why I love it that the TV series is so different than the book series: we get to have so many different stories, and see the characters so differently. There's so much more of Dexter to go around that way No, I cannot imagine seeing that on TV. That would be pretty controversial! Yep, the third one's my least favorite. But I don't want to discourage you... Maybe you'll like it.
  20. Thanks gals I had a party last night so I'm a bit tired today. Have been watching a Finnish TV series and not done much else. I'm getting old... literally!
  21. :exc: It really is fantastic, isn't it! I'm so jealous that you get to watch the whole thing from the start, for the first time! So many great moments ahead Just remember to take Reuben out every now and then...
  22. The Office is definitely great re-watch material! I don't know how many times I've seen the earlier seasons And of course I'm totally jazzed that you're now hooked on Gilmore Girls, which is another all time favorite of mine! The sooner the better I've yet to read the whole thing... I'm already dreading all the detailed descriptions and songs and things. How would you rate the whole reading experience, from 1to 5, if you don't mind my asking?
  23. Thanks for the support! I now know there's no idea in me doing anything that needs using the oven, when I have guests coming over. I can't expect the oven to work properly. Also, I don't think I will bother that much with a lot of baking as the handy baker/cook friend of mine will always just bring stuff over and then everyone eats her stuff I might as well just put out a bag of chips and popcorn and be done with it
  24. I have to say, that it was a bit dry! I didn't expect it to be so... Also, my oven is probably broken, as it doesn't heat things in the time frame given. I mean, in the past month or so I've noticed that the stuff I heat in the oven take longer to warm than they're supposed to, and tonight was a real bother with the oven! Anyhow... Nobody went home famished, I believe, and that's as much as I could've hoped for My other friend had made vegan pizza and some other thing, and everybody ate them up like they were not going to see tomorrow... Well, she's known to be a great cook and a baker and I'm just... average. Oh how I felt semi inadequate tonight!
  25. I had a feeling you'd recognize it I'm still so happy about them! They are, aren't they Awwww thanks babe! My friend A who left the party first (as he has work tomorrow) posted on his FB feed that it's snowing. So now I'm thinking, damn, I might actually have to go out and do what I always do when it's my Bday: go out in the middle of the night and do a snow angel. I thought today I wouldn't have to do one as there's no snow, but now it's snowing I guess I should take it as a sign... Kind of like Lorelai :D Edit: Kylie, I totally made Rocky Road for my Bday Nom nom!!!
