  1. What a coinkydink, I've recently read the first two books in the series Good stuff! Yeah, it was really disappointing, but one gets used to it
  2. Not bad at all! Thanks! Here's the best song by Digitalism in my opinion:
  3. I thought it was age-related, too... Or I thought that might be a possibility. But hey, at least you've now figured out what you need to do and how the Cronometer works for you, personally. That's ace! It's really hard, isn't it? I'm sorry that you have to go through it too, soon. I hope you do well and don't feel too bad in the morning We'll survive!

  5. Okay, we need to compile a list of the books mentioned and referred to in the new GG season If anyone finds a list, please post here! I'd really appreciate it! I'm off to google, myself. Edit: I found this and I'm now going to make a list.
  6. Congrats to everyone who's managed to lose weight and start a new, healthier lifestyle! I feel like this year has been such a disappointment for me, weight-wise. My jogging came to a halt when I was getting really stressed about whether I'd have to move or not. And then my work was stressful for a while for certain reasons... Then I started a diet (healthy food, but low in calories), and while I was able to keep to the diet, nothing happened weight-wise... I quit that diet and then started to count my calories. And while I was eating less than I needed per day, nothing happened. I had to visit the health center for a normal work-related annual check-up and I complained about not being able to lose weight and the doctor wondered if it's to do with hormones or something. I now have to go and do some blood tests... Which I don't mind, but I have to stop eating for 12 hours before the tests and I have (self-diagnosed) hypoglycemia... So it's going to be a real struggle for me. To wake up and get out of my apartment without breakfast and go somewhere and wait till I'm allowed to eat something.
  7. Hitting 30 wasn't a problem for me, I was rather excited about it. But now I'm kinda dreading turning 35. Oh well!
  8. I've only read maybe 49 books or so, and it's the lowest number for me since 2007... It sucks, but you've had a really busy year, and I've also had to adjust to a new job and stuff. So we can't really blame ourselves, can we.
  9. Hey and welcome to the forum!
  10. Not my usual stuff.
  11. Of course you don't! I think it's quite obvious that they've made some of the female characters (and some men, too) into very stereotypical characters Don't worry! 45cm snow?!? Is that usual for you guys at this early stage of winter?? Bloody hell... I think nowadays we are lucky here in Finland if we get 45cm at any moment during winter. Well, maybe not where I come from... But Helsinki is a no-snow fest usually throughout the winter. I'm not accustomed to it... So it was so odd to have proper snow in October! Loved it! But now it's gone. It's so dark Could you recommend any other Minnesota movies, by the way? I still think of Brenda and Brandon Walsh when Minnesota is mentioned, and I know loads of Finns migrated to Minnesota back in the day Edit: Random fact about Minnesota (have I told you before?): 'minne' is 'where (to)' in Finnish, and 'sota' means 'war' in Finnish. So Minnesota would be understood as 'where is the war going to hit' / 'where are we going to wage a war'. Curious!
  12. Hey poppy! I know you asked for a book series, but given this genre, I've never read a series... But if at some point you'd like to recommend a standalone, I would recommend The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester. I don't read spacey sci-fi but I really really liked this one
  13. Anxiety can be so annoying. I don't have any advice, really, but I just wanted to say that whatever you decide to do (go for it or not), try not to be too hard on yourself. You will know what the best decision is for you, and things will work out one way or the other. Sorry, that sounds very clichéd. And the next thing I'm going to say is even more clichéd, but it's so true it's annoying: 'this too shall pass'. Eventually this thing will be behind you. I know it probably doesn't comfort you much at the moment.. But you'll be alright in the end
  14. I watched the first three episodes, pretty much back to back. I was talking with Kylie for maybe 15-30 minutes after each episode. I really, really wanted to watch the fourth one as well but decided to savour it... I know Kylie watched the whole thing and I know Abby's seen it too. I'd decided beforehand I'd only watch one episode. But then there was something that I knew would continue in episode two, and so I thought I had to watch it, too. Then after the second episode there were a few certain 'aspects' that had not yet been present in the show and I thought I have to watch the third ep, too. And then there was this sort of a cliffhangerish thing and I so would've wanted to watch the fourth episode but restrained myself. The magic was there, and for me it was worth it. I hope that the fourth episode will only serve to make my opinion stronger. Hm, that was awkwardly put... I mean I hope the fourth episode brings certain things together for me personally and that it will make it all the better. Without going into detail, I loved how they did stuff that were very very Stars Hollow -like. Like certain festivals / events. It was like coming home in a way. I don't think I can say much more than that without getting into details and spoiling things. I would recommend it! And if you have Netflix already, it's like, why not watch it as you're already paying for Netflix, and on the other hand, if you don't have Netflix, why not join for a free trial month in order to watch the episodes. That's what I did Edit: ^ That is, if you live somewhere where you have access to Netflix.
  15. Bunk is funny The look on his face when he was
  16. I'm happy to know my dream didn't foretell the truth of the show :D Very excited about tomorrow!!!! For some reason or another, I thought the show would air on Saturday, but I'm so happy that it's going to air a day earlier than I thought! And Friday suits me better, actually. Yay!
  17. I finally finished a book I feel like I've been reading for ages. Not worth mentioning! And then I started reading This One Is Mine by Maria Semple. Oooh I like it so far! It feels like reading is fun again!
  18. The thing is, I wouldn't have minded all the new characters, that much at least, But you're right in that I do love the different focuses (foci, if you will Reminds me of the latin plural for a certain type of feline that Bunk talked about at a bar...) and I'm going to love getting deeper in to them when I eventually re-watch and re-watch the series, endlessly Great show!!
  19. So weird... I love re-reading books! But like Lau_Lou said, it's not a priority because there are so many new novels to be read... But every once in a while there's just something about an old familiar book, calling out one's name...
  20. Did you watch season 1? Season 2 isn't my favorite. I didn't like all the dock business. And it was so different from the first season.
  21. What, you're not all warm, friendly, loving and generous? Or sexy firemen? The winter in the movie made me wish for snow over here. We had some for a while but then it melted. Sigh. It's dark and depressing now!
  22. I now have Netflix, and the flu, so I'm going to be watching stuff The very first movie I watched on Netflix was New in Town. I immediately knew I had to watch it when I saw it on the list. Hello Minnesota and Harry Connick, Jr Peacefield, it made me think of you! Edit: It made me want to start scrapbooking
  23. It's definitely re-watch material! There's so much to the story, all the small details and the bigger picture stuff... I bet there's loads of things that are going right over my head and I don't even know it! I'm now getting towards the end of season 4... I've gotz the flu and so I'm binge watching stuff. I just signed up with Netflix for a free trial month (in order to watch the new Gilmore Girls episodes next weekend ) and now I can't decide what to watch Too much to choose from!!

  25. Oh don't worry about it one bit, Athena! I was confused but I still did a bit of reading last weekend and nothing's stopping me from doing so this weekend too, if I feel like it! It was just a bit of a misunderstanding but nothing was lost, nothing was wrecked because of it! I hope you get your reading mood back in time for next month's read-a-thon
