  7. Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast by Robin McKinley Synopsis: Beauty has never liked her nickname. She is thin and awkward; it is her two sisters who are the beautiful ones. But what she lacks in looks, she can perhaps make up for in courage. When her father comes home with the tale of an enchanted castle in the forest and the terrible promise he had to make to the Beast who lives there, Beauty knows she must go to the castle, a prisoner of her own free will. Her father protests that he will not let her go, but she answers, "Cannot a Beast be tamed?" Robin McKinley's beloved telling illuminates the unusual love story of a most unlikely couple: Beauty and the Beast. Courtesy of www.barnesandnoble.com Review: I simply loved this book! The only thing about the book that I would have changed was the ending. I felt the book was a bit rushed at the end and it could have been more detailed. But other than that, I have no complaints so it gets a 4/5. If you

  19. Oh no! Another book I have to read! Seriously though, very happy I found this post. Never heard of the book, but I love Beauty and the Beast, so I have to read this!
  20. I'm still a little timid about reading Wicked, but I'll give it a try anyway. Michelle, thanks for the link to your review of Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister it was very helpful. Lucybird, Maureen and leah, thanks so much for your thoughts on Jodi Picoult's books. I think I'll try My Sister's Keeper first. Thank again! =)
  21. I feel really lucky to live in an area with a great library system. I've saved so much money by going to the library. I go to get children's books for work, CD's so I can update my iPod, DVD's and even magazines. I don't know what I'd do without my libraries.
  22. I've read many mixed reviews on Wicked by Gregory Maguire that I didn't think I'd ever read it. However, I was at a party a few weeks ago and this girl I met insisted that I read it and I wouldn't be disappointed, so I think I'll give it a try. She also recommended Maguire's Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Has anyone read that? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also, I was hoping some Jodi Picoult fans could help me out. I've heard so much about her and I would really like to read one of her books, but I don't know where to start. There are way too many to choose from. So, if anyone could recommend one of her books for me to start with I would really appreciate it. Thanks! =)
  23. I also loved Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella. Have you read Remember Me? If not, I highly recommend it. =)
