  1. What a great idea! The trouble I have is that I can never remember quotes unless I have it written down on a piece of paper to read so I couldn't be as good as you and drop them into conversation. I will go find a good quote and come back and edit this post:)

Later... OK I did cheat slightly it is not from a book I have read but I think it sums up the never ending problem we have- but without the beards for us girls!

    Books to the ceiling,

    Books to the sky,

My pile of books is a mile high.

How I love them! How I need them!

I'll have a long beard by the time I read them. Arnold Lobel

  2. I've JUST discovered the news section!!! Previously I thought adding friends was a little pointless as you still had to nip over to their profile to view their catelogue... but I was mistaken!! you can just click on the news bit and it tells you what everyone else has been up to (mostly at the moment it says that a.book.in.the.life has added a million books!

I bet you all knew this already but I'm sharing anyway as it makes it more fun!!

..it's the little icon to the right of 'member connections' and 'members with your books'

Wow I didn't know that! And oops how embarassing:)

  3. I have been trying to think about which version to read. I remember at school we had versions that had the original on one page and then the opposite page was a 'translation' but I can't remember what they were. I can remember the cover to Measure for Measure though, I really enjoyed that!

  4. When I look on my shelves of what to read next I usually think about the following-

-Do I need something fresh and new from an author I have never tried?

    or

    - Do I want something from an author I know and like?

I then make my decisions from that. Sometimes I do just automatically reach for a book on my shelf as if my subconcious has already made the decision for me.

I had never really thought about it actually so thanks for the question:)

  5. Top gear is fantastic! My favourites are the specials- The American, Polar and African Ones, and the Toybota.

The stig is fantastic, I wonder if its the racing driver or just an actor that did the public transport one. 'Meanwhile on the underground car the stig was exploring a whole new world...'

I love the specials too! The American one I just cringed so much at how bad they were!
