  1. I agree. Episode 2 made me cry. In the main you are probably right. However it's certainly made me think about my lifestyle and what I can do, and it's made me want learn more about the issues as well. I am sure there will be people watching this who will learn something, or have something re-iterated to them, and want to do something. Even if just a few people think again, it's a start. Yup! What did you study at uni?
  2. George Alagiah travels the world to reveal a growing global food crisis that could affect the planet in the years ahead Has anybody else been watching this? Is anybody else worried?
  3. Ooh - interesting - I have a book of Du Maupassant stories on the bookshelf I totally agree. There are also some great Sci Fi short stories - Assimov's 'Nightfall One', R A Heinlen's 'By His Bootstraps'
  4. I put down There is a God as it was a bit heavy going and picked up a P D James instead: A Certain Justice. It's good so far!
  5. Terry Pratchett has lots of characters with their mouths opening and closing when they are at a loss at what to say.
  6. That's true. And it happens in cinema all the time, especially with cars.
  7. Hi Mac I'm very well thanks. How are you? I have read a little Asimov - The End of Eternity (a great read) and some of his short stories. I intend to read 'I Robot' some day. Indeed it was. I really enjoyed it. Quite a quick read and different enough from the film (what I remember of it) to be a worthwhile read even if you've seen it. I recommend it.
  8. Well football brings in advertising revenue. Maybe they should put ads in books
  9. Since being on here last I finished King Lear and have read: Olivia Joules and the overactive imagination by Helen Fielding and Do Androids dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K Dick
  10. Happy birthday Emma. Hope you're well :) Come back and visit some time.

  11. The Angel's Game sounds great Mac. I've added it (and shadow) to my wish list.
  12. No I would never correct bad grammar or spelling in a book, whether my own or someone else's. To do it to a library book is very annoying.
  13. I know. I feel all inspired to visit the mountains closer to home now. I think a weekend trip to North Wales is in order this summer!
  14. I've seen one episode and I really liked it. I must remember to watch it though because I keep forgetting it's on!
  15. We had steak and peppercorn sauce, dauphinoise potatoes (both ready made bung it in the oven jobs) and brocolli and peas. It was lush!
  16. Ah glad it's not just me then. I hope you enjoy it Lucybird.
  17. I finished Emotional Geology last night. I was a bit sceptical at first, it's not the type of thing I normally read, and there was something about the writing style that annoyed me, too many commas. However, I did end up enjoying it, it was very well written, (apart from the style thing) and quite lyrical. It captured the scenery beautifully and made me want to go and visit the Outer Hebrides. One small thing, I think it could have finished a bit sooner. The last chapter felt like a long epilogue, when really the story was wrapped up by that point. Still, I look forward to reading Star Gazing, which I have heard, is even better.
  18. That's a shame. It's one of my all time favourites. I hope it picks up for you.
  19. I've almost finished Emotional Geology now. Hopefully I'll finish it tonight. I've decided to be brave and read King Lear next. I'm really looking forward to it - hopefully it won't be too difficult!!
  20. Happy birthday :)

  21. ooh - I love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I'll have to listen to that (when I'm on a network that doesn't block youtube)
  22. I picked up Lucy's monster again but couldn't really get on with it so I'm giving Emotional Geology a try.
  23. Wow some of those are really interesting. Those tiny little ones look good, but how annoying, all the books that go on them really need to be exactly the same size.
  24. Hi and welcome
