  3. when you intend to find some gainful employment! I need to pay rent, electricity and gas bills, not to mention my hairdresser, beautician, masseuse, wax technician and manicurist! And the cleaner has said she won't come again if I don't pay her,' Clothilde wailed. 'Look,' I said
  4. gave me pause for all of five seconds ... but I ignored them all, sat down and tucked in. I was just finishing the last tasty morsels when the door opened a crack and a head, topped with a bright red, bobbled nightcap, peered round the corner. 'Gidday, want some soup?' I asked.
  5. Percy Faith made lovely music. I also love Mantovani's Orchestra. Both had quite unique sounds. Where Do You Go To My Lovely? ~ Peter Sarstedt
  6. went in search of the kitchen. I found cold veggie soup and a loaf of bread, so I set to rustling up a feed. The soup was coming to the boil and I had a nice pile of hot buttered toast at the ready. My mouth was fair watering in anticipation and my stomach rumbles were reaching volcanic proportions when ...
  7. We're Gonna Groove ~ Led Zep
  8. so there was really only one thing to do if I didn't want to catch double pneumonia, pleurisy, a bad case of foot rot, chilblains and pulpy kidney! As much as I hated to, I abandoned Pythagoras and went and found the local dosshouse. At least now I could ...
  9. her thinking she had spied Zelda coming unsteadily out of The Booby Trap Inn. She shot off in pursuit, faster than a greyhound out of the traps, screeching Zelda's name like a banshee. Zelda tottered on heedless until ...

  11. Help Me Make It Through the Night ~ Kris Kristofferson
  12. I was love's young dream and all that guff. My amazing personality made up for any temporary lack of funds. I was mentally listing my many talents and multitudinous attractions and going off in a dream about a future life with the delectable Pythie, where she sat at my feet, whilst gazing adoringly into my eyes, when ...
  13. told him that he'd better ask the missus, pointing at Pythagoras. 'I'm not your missus!' she screamed, 'and my sister isn't that ...that... midget mini-me thing over there's missus!' 'Now now, calm down Mrs. Whose missus are you again, exactly?' asked the confused cop. Pythagoras started ...

  15. What a cheek! I hope someone stops him if he tries a third time. I bet your church isn't the only one he's tried it on either!
  16. was getting more and more worked up. I felt she was overreacting a bit. After all her sister didn't sound much to write home about, what with the light fingeredness and all the bills she'd run up. She wasn't going to be much use to us. Not that I did much writing home, 'She Who Must Be Obeyed ' was always blathering on about it. But as I always said ...

  18. Black Sheep ~ Gin Wigmore
  19. the incongruously attired Hobbit furtively sidled up to us. 'I hear you'd be looking for Zelda,' he hissed out the side of his mouth, all the while looking around. 'How did YOU know we're looking for Zelda??' I demanded. 'Shhhhh.....
  20. Just finished watching the series A Spy Among Friends, loosely based on British double agent Kim Philby. I found this fascinating. My only criticism is that it frequently jumps between time periods which is a bit confusing. Excellent performances.

  22. hostelry, 'Percy's Pickled Gherkin,' and 'Wilberforce's Wine Bar.' Although there was little demand for typewriter expertise these days, these savings allowed her to keep paying rent and she occupied a little flat on Cheapside Row. Zelda didn't answer the phone but we decided to ...
  23. a pained look on her face due to ridiculously high stiletto heels and a skirt so tight she had to take little mincing steps. 'STOP!' she suddenly demanded. 'This is ridiculous! Let me Google it on my phone!' It turned out ...
  24. The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) ~ Simon and Garfunkel
  25. loud guffaws from both of us. 'You've got to be joking mate! That was only a ten minute ride!' 'Proices 'ave gorn orp, pay orp or I'll 'ave the pollis onto ya! ' he glowered. (Not quite sure what that accent is exactly?? 🤭) He wasn't banking on the formidable Pythagoras and her ...
