  1. I agree with Louise. Kids are worse. Katie kept hitting me the other day when I was reading and smacking the book away because she wanted attention, which is very cheeky because she spends all her time reading. She sometimes steals my book to look through when I am about to pick it up too. OH loves me reading because he can get on with things on the pc, and he likes reading too, but doesn't read as often as he should. It is good for him to read but he doesn't find the time for it often. I don't think he understands why I am so lost in the book sometimes that I can't hear hime talking to me though.
  2. Stargazing was brilliant. It really made me think about how I see the world, and what it would be like to be blind. In fact it made me think about lots of things. I haven't read much over the weekend due to beng busy and having a cold but last night I started a short christian book Nice Girls Don't Change The World by Lynne Hybels, wife of the pioneering Bill Hybels. The book is nice and short, so I am not sure it effectively sends the message, but it has certainly made me think about a few things to do with my relationship with God, which is why I bought the book and have been wanting to read it for a while. It is inspiring to Christian women. Highly recommended.
  3. I feel the same. It sounds like it will be really good but I want to hear more abut it first.
  4. Loopyloo, Esme is much much better than After You'd Gone. I haven't read any of her others, but I loved Esme.
  5. Reading them in one go is very good. It lets you see the books in a whole new light.
  6. Change of plan. We were busy moving things so we had bacon sandwiches and some of the soup I made yesterday and crumble afterwards.
  7. Thanks, Yes I'd noticed Brisingr. I will probably take a look at Eldest. I'll reserve it from the library when I have a gap in my TBRs. Kate - I like the way things are described in stargazing too, but then I often see the world in terms of music and can identify with that to a certain extent. I love the way Gillard takes you into the world of the blind. She does it very well. It really makes you think. A rare talent.
  8. Eragon was a great read, but I am not yet sure whether I want to read the rest of the books. I will give Eldest a go. I am just not sure there are enough interesting characters and plot action to keep me going. I could well be wrong though!! I did love Eragon. There was some blatant copying of LOTR in Eragon, especially to do with Tronjheim. I loved Saphira's character. She is very stong and wise. I don't know why it took me so long. My read has slowed down since starting it. Hopefully the next one won't take long. I am currently reading Stargazing by Linda Gillard and enjoying it very much. It really is intriguing to understand what it must be like to be blind. I had heard that the book portrays it very well, but you really have to read it to see. It is beautiful.
  9. Harry potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. With my two girls I couldn't me read a whole book at once these days.
  10. The girls behaviour, and how tired I am. If I am distracted, or at the start of book I read slower. If I a tired I can't really concentrate, and I get tired easily with youngsters. I try to set a target for each day just to make sure I get through the book, but don't stick to it religiously. I always like to take in what I am reading, and somtimes flick back to remind myself of something. I have a terrible memory.
  11. Me too, although not since I had the children. I can't push a pram, watch the baby in the carrier and read at the same time. When do I read? When the children let me. Mostly when breastfeeding bubbly, but often the eldest starts being naughty recently, or bubbly is fretful and I'm often too tired. So I read whenever I can and try to get some in at night, especially when I have no ironing to do.
  12. I wouldn't say they are like Buffy and Angel at all. There are female vamps, but they are not the main characters. They are quite interesting when they appear though.
  13. Thank you Princess. It is good and bad at the moment. I just pray that things will go positively.

  14. Really simple today to go with the hot weather. We had baked potatoes with beans, tuna, scrambled egg and salad.
  15. Normally I would agree too, but the long healing process I very much needed started after reading such a book. Andy I think you are right, that, sadly there are too many books on the subject that are probably just money makers and gimmicks to fit our quick fix society, but there are some very good ones and some people really need them.
  16. Why Tirasias? Actually I used to hold the same opinion until I read one.
  17. I often feel like that. I am not very good at ideas.
  18. We had a pinic out and then back home I made a crumble with rhubarb, apple, nectarine and ginger with cinnamon and cornflakes in the crumble. I had a piece but the girls are in bed and OH is out so Katie and Drew can have ome tomorrow. It was gorgeous.
  19. It sounds very difficult, but if you enjoy it..
  20. I agree with F&C. If it makes people more aware and understanding by knowing what it does to people, then maybe it will help those suffering in the future.
  21. I was looking at this yesterday. It would be good to read more about india, but it doesn't sound like such a good read now.
  22. Er, what was it, oh yes, spaghetti bolognese.
