  1. The notepad is very useful Michelle. I often feel I have to rush writing a post, or can't remember who I am replying to, or what to say because I am distracted by OH or the children, so it is handy to use this function. I used to have to wait for a program to open on the pc to store and edit my posts.
  2. I checked in my library last night. It was due back today. I have rather a lot to read at the moment though.
  3. Echo, my OH is the same. He has had a receeding haor line for years, and now has a couple of patches appearing, which are evident is he doesn't shave for a bit now and again, but he has been shaving his head for a few years now. All you people with the wardrobe obsession have beeen reading too many horror books.
  4. I have too many too, and I was also planning on doing the same, but I have just replaced the older ones to match my new ones, and want to get the last one (POA) before I re-read.
  5. Definitely. She will be well educated before she starts school:mrgreen:.
  6. Today at lunch, Katie was swaying and jigging to, wait for it, The Benedictus! Then she did the same thing to Pachel Bell's Canon!
  7. Just like Katie! At one stage I put gravy in all her food just so she would eat it.
  8. The rest of the corned beef hash I made on Thursday which really needed eating.
  9. Sausage, mash, onion gravy, cabbage, and green beans. Katie even ate her veg, but I bet that was because it had gravy on!
  10. I listened to some great things on Classic FM today! I am always dancing around the room and singing along etc. Katie must think I am crazy (but then she sings to it too!)
  11. I nearly picked this up in the hospital last week. I put it down in favour of another book. If it weren't for a few pence I would have picked up both. I think i should have got this one, but the one I got looks quite good, and is a cultural novel too.
  12. Lol, no probs. I was only buttering you up for the pm I just sent you anyway.:tong:

  13. I bet as soon as I find something to write in, the children annoy me! Actually, I did have some great ideas today. I need to write them down before I forget. Wait a minute, I have writing material. I am on a pc!
  14. #I have always wanted to work in a library, or have a bookshop. One with lot's of nooks ans crannies for hiding in etc (I ma just a child at heart). I would also love to write a book one day. I am getting better at the writing thing, but I am still not very creative, so it may take a while to produce a book, and I keep changing my mind on the subject. Maybe I should just get writing. Where did that notebook go??
  15. Kate. I have also been thinking of looking into the history of the chinese empire, and maybe even reading the sequel to Empress Orchid. If you find any good books on the time could you let me know?
  16. That sounds like a good book Madcow. I would love to read it. This site is getting worse and worse for my TBR pile!
  17. I love fantasy. I shall have to have a look for some of these.
  18. Thanks fr your message Tiger. My girls get there looks from their Daddy.

  19. I haven't had much money for the last few years with being at university and having my girls, plus the bookstalls at university are very tempting, so I like to buy new, but during this time, apart from all the brand new nice looking text books I bought at university, I have only bought books that are special and will be re-read like Harry Potters, or books from the internet that I can't wait for. For some reason I won't buy books second hand from the net, although I did buy one from Ebay second hand. I have never consider the new or used buttons on Amazon, probably because I don't know whether I can trust the sellers on the new books. I always wonder how a new book can be so much cheaper. Maybe I will change my mind on that one? If there are books on offer I will look through them. I always browsed the bookstall in the student union and usually came away with a few books. If I see books for sale at the library or other things I go to, I always have to look, not that I get much time for a proper look with two babies. In fact, when I took a book back to the library just this morning I had toi avert my eyes from the table (and Mum had Katie too). If I wanted to purchase a textbook (rather than get it from the library) I always bought them new. I liked to have my own new copy. The cheap new christian books that the CU used to get from the publishers were always worth a good look too. I came away from there a couple of times with over ten books. I mostly get the children's books from the library, and their shelves are packed too, but I want to get them used to using it. I only get books there when I am taking part in reading circles or if I want to browse the non-fiction books, or if something catches my eye while in there. There is something about being in libraries that I love. I always keep my books, but i have recently considered parting with some that I didn't enjoy too much and/or won't read again. I am glad to see that Katie has a love of reading, and I want to keep my books for her and Millie when they grow up. I can't bare to part with some of them. I agree that there is something about new books, but I just can't afford it all the time, and I love reading, plus I think that there is also something about libraries, and about browsing secondhand bookstalls.
  20. How on earth do you do that? Or are you talking about audio books?
  21. The last one was the one I finished yesterday, Entertaining Angels. The one that got most mourning would be LOTR.
  22. It is. I have another note to add about it. The book brings to attention the little girl's autism and talks about the condition, and its prejudices as well as the love it can bring. The book isn't really about autism, but it manages to help the reader see the condition from different angles. There are lot's of angels in the book too, but only if the reader is able to spot them all.
  23. I have posted my thoughts on A Small Part Of History in the relevant thread. After that I read Entertaining Angels by Joanna Bell. I recommend this book highly. It is an easy read, but heart renching and beautiful. It is the story of an angel, of a little girl with autism brought beautifully and lovingly to life by this book, and of family and forgiveness (those two words are on the front of the book, but they are entwined within the lives of all the characters). I fell in love with all the characters in this book, and felt for them all at some point. It is one of those books with obvious happy endings, but also keeps you reading and wondering. I even cried at one point which isn't like me.. I am now reading After You'd Gone by Maggie O'Farrell
  24. It depends what you listen to whether it makes you cry Inver, and your aesthetic ability (right word?) too I think. I love flute solos. They are very pretty. I could lose myself in one any day.
  25. I am looking forward to reading your books Linda. Thank you very much for talking to us. You are an inspiration.
