Thanks guys. Even if there were any classes around I couldn't get to them as I don't drive, hence the thread. I am not very good at creative stuff, but would really like to do some costumes for the girls. I'll see what I can find then. Thanks for the suggestions.
  2. Ooh Raven is sooo good. I loved the vampire's Betrayal, but it was over so quick. There is so much going on, so many intriguing events. Now I have to buy the next book!! I'm finishing In Search of Adam at the moment, because it's about time I did.
  3. I would say avoid it. The characters are just mundane and the whole thing is rather predictable. The story could have been written much better. I would have like it to go more into the minds of the characters in relation to the situation, especially David's.
  4. OK, The Memory Keeper's Daughter took me so long to read that I haven't got to Footprints In The Sand. It was a waste of time reading that book. It had a good idea behind it, but the characters were rather dull and I didn't really enjoy reading it. I've moved on to Raven Hart's The Vampire's Betrayal, which I have been trying to get bookrings out of the way for. It is great. Once again Raven Hart is keeping me entertained. I didn't get much read in the car at the weekend or at Mum's because OH and the children wanted my attention, but I have nearly finished it. There is so much going on the pages just race along. I saw a few things coming, but that does not spoil the enjoyment. It is interesting to see different things coming together, and the Mayan civilisation is definitely something I would like to read more about.
  5. Hardback books are easy to find in our library because they are shelved alphabetically by author, and non-fiction books are easy to find too, but paperbacks are all over the place and not in much of an order. If I had the time then i would love to browse and find new books to read, but with the children I am always hurrying around so i usually search on the internet for specific books I want, or using key words, and then go and have a look. If I browse the library it is only a quick look to see if my eye meets something interesting, or I might go to a particular section to find something I fancy reading. To be honest I spend most of my time in the children's library letting the girls choose books. I enjoy watching Katie learn how the library works.
  6. Tonight I am going to try making my own simple tomato sauce with parsley and rosemary to serve over chicken breasts with garlic bread. I hope Katie likes it. Last night I did a roast wih cauliflower cheese thinking she would eat it with cheese on but she wouldn't touch it.
  7. Thanks Tiger. Great news about your aunt.

  8. Thank you. I know that lonely feeling. OH goes away all the time to see his children. I don't mind of course. Gives me a break anyway lol

  9. Thanks. They were both very good. Katie is learning that she can have plenty of attention without playing up. I'm not havig such a bad evening so I feel better. Hope you are well. x

  10. Thanks Rennie. Hope you are well. x

  11. Thank you. She is getting more beautiful all the time. I keep meaning to post more pics.

  12. Thank you! How are you?

  13. Beef in ale casserole with dumplings is in the oven for tonight, except I substituted ale for beef stock. We don't want to intoxicate the children.
  14. I agree. We had mince and mash last night. Delicious and wholesome. Granted we had it with asparagus cooked in garlic butter but there is nothing wrong with peas.Yum yum.
  15. We have plenty of spare rooms but they are either undecorated (like the room that is perfect for a library), or full junk.
  16. I tried to read while feeding Millie this morning but Katie climbed on the settee and started mauling me, as usual. Of course, I would rather have a cuddle with Katie:)
  17. So do I, but I keep leaving them around the house when I'm running around with the children (and with my book) and then they get lost, either that or my daughter takes them and loses them. She seems to think it is funny if Mummy loes her place in her book.
  18. Tell me about it! I lost half an hour this morning. I wanted to be out by 9am to look round some shops for christmas present ideas. We left at 9:30 and I only had time to go to the post office before storytime. Tonight we are having Greek Stifado
  19. That's the appeal! Well I for one would definitely join, and I wouldn't hold you responsible if I found out it wasn't as I was expecting/not to my tastes. I'd just like to give it a go and see what it has to say. You've intrigued me with that review.
  20. I have so much to read. I have three christian books on the go, as well as In Search of Adam. I'm currently reading the Memory Keeper's daughter, which I am finding slow, though interesting. Does it pick up pace at all? It has taken me ages to get half way and I just want to finish it now. In the meantime I have read Blood Ties and Emotional Geology. I found Emo Geo somewhat disappointing, but it was a good read. It had some moments that made me think, and some parts were written beautifully. Blood Ties was riveting. I recommend it highly.
  21. Sounds right up my street! I'll have to give it a go and see what I think. Great, another one for mount tbr:roll:
  22. Tomato and creme fraiche soup followed by mackerel braised with fennel lemon and garlic, served with Kale and potatoes plus orvieto wine to drink. It was ready at a good time (OH goes to colllege at 17:45) but for some reason it took nearly twenty minutes to serve the food, pour the wine and strap the children in, which meant OH left about five minutes late for college, after he asked me not to make hime late, so I am not feeling very happy right now:irked: I don't know where the time went.
  23. Turkey, mash, asparagus, carrots, sprouts, mange tout, gravy and apple pie after, at Mum's house.
  24. Pizza from Tesco again. OH is out and I fed the girls in Tesco so wanted something quick (naughty naughty).
