  1. Big hugs and Birthday wishes!

  2. Lancashire lass born and bred. Born in Preston, short move to Blackpool and then straight back to Preston again. I know, I'm quite adventurous!
  3. Thanks Nici! I love the Christmas ticker but I couldn't let Halloween pass without one!

  4. Happy Birthday!!

Hope you have a lovely day.

  5. There was nothing specific, I just found that I wasn't interested anymore. It wasn't enjoyable to carry on and I was bored. It's a shame because it's very rare for me to not finish a book. The worst thing is, I feel relieved that I don't have to carry on any more.
  6. I tried my best with The Memory Keepers Daughter as I was thoroughly sucked in with the hype on this one. However, 150 pages in and I can't carry on. I've decided that there are too many other books I've really looked forward to reading, that are sat on my shelf whilst I bore myslef reading this one. That's not to say it's an awful book, it's just not for me.
  7. Oh my, I feel so bad now. I just can't go on with this book any more. I'm bored. Initially, I was intrigued by the story and was pulled in by lovely reviews from people here and in the literary world but I just can't carry on. It's very rare that I don't finish a book, most of the time I can push myself on to the end but I've read about 150 pages and that's it. I feel I have to apologise, but I'm not sure why
  8. Thanks Loopy! It's still coming across a bit more negative than I would like but I suppose that's the joy of reviewing
  9. No Kell, It's a remake by the BBC, (although there's not much info on there yet.) I was unsure about watching because I didn't really like the look of the adverts I saw. I may give it a go if I'm not doing anything next week.
  10. Had a sneaky taste of our newest Shiraz Petit Verdot and I'm mightily impressed. I didn't really like the Shiraz on it's own but this blend is just lovely. I will be stocking up for xmas with this one.
  11. For me it's spinach and leeks. I'd never considered them before (not much a fan of green foods) but since I have I eat them quite a lot, especially the leeks.
  12. We were naughty and had a curry delivered as I was stuck in work two hours longer than I should have been. It was good though
  13. That's a bit stupid as they neve actually left the shelves, they just renamed them. Oh well, roll on October...... I want a Wispa
  14. Another hard to put down book that I started on Sunday at work and I finished today. (Well, it was my day off!) The Outcast by Sadie Jones. It's 1957 and Lewis Aldridge is travelling back to his home in the South of England. He is straight out of jail and nineteen years old. His return will trigger the implosion not just of his family, but of a whole community. A decade earlier, his father's homecoming casts a different shape. The war is over and Gilbert reverts easily to suburban life — cocktails at six-thirty, church on Sundays — but his wife and young son resist the stuffy routine. Lewis and his mother escape to the woods for picnics, just as they did in wartime days. Nobody is surprised that Gilbert's wife counters convention, but they are all shocked when, after one of their jaunts, Lewis comes back without her. Not far away, Kit Carmichael keeps watch. She has always understood more than most, not least from what she is dealt by her own father's hand. Lewis's grief and burgeoning rage are all too plain, and Kit makes a private vow to help. But in her attempts to set them both free, she fails to predict the painful and horrifying secrets that must first be forced into the open. This is one of the bookrings being passed around at the moment and I've been and left my thoughts in the appropriate review thread. So if you're interested, go and take a peek! Now.... what's next?
  15. I took part in the bookring for this one and I have to say I was pleasantly suprised. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting with this book but it was nothing compared to the story you get sucked into. Fantasticly vivid characters that you either loved or hated and it fits so well into the time period. Highly recommended this one, so if you haven't put your name down for it yet, nip on over and do so!
  16. Os is going to make a bolognese tonight Yum yum
  17. Chicken and veg soup that I made last night with fresh crusty bread
  18. You won't be disappointed with this trilogy Great reading.
  19. I picked up No Time For Goodbye ~ Linwood Barclay on Thursday as it was sitting next to me on the sofa and I couldn't resist. In fact, it was that good, I've finished it already Highly recommend this one. "The house was deathly quiet. That was the first sign that something was terribly wrong. Fourteen-year-old Cynthia Bigge woke that morning to find herself alone. Her family - mother, father, and brother - had vanished without a word, without a note, without a trace. Twenty-five years later, Cynthia is still looking for answers. Now she is about to learn the devastating truth."
  20. Funny, I started this one today as well..... I'm 200 pages in already Very intriguing read.
  21. Happy Birthday!!

  22. Which BB Girl am I most like? You are most like Jennifer! You're a popular lady who's brimming with emotion, which means you're most like Jennifer. Which BB Boy am I most like? You're an individual! Some of the answers you chose mean you're a bronzed facilitator of people like Mario. Some of the answers you chose mean you're proper flash harry like Rex. My Dream Date.... You're a bit undecided! Some of the answers you chose mean your dream date is Darnell. Some of the answers you chose mean your dream date is Luke. Some of the answers you chose mean your dream date is Rex. Some of the answers you chose mean your dream date is Dale. I think 'a bit' is an understatement there!!!
  23. Quiver Peter Leonard ISBN: 9780571241118 Published: 02.10.2008 No of pages: 304 Synopsis: Kate McCall
  24. Nothing to Fear was an interesting story but I have to say it's the weakest of Karen Rose's books so far. The investigative characters didn't seem to gel properly with the bad guy they were chasing and it all fit together in the end a bit too neatly. Still, not a bad read and I would recommend her books to anyone who enjoys a good crime yarn without getting too gory. I've also finished my ER book Quiver by Peter Leonard. I've posted a review in the Fiction section and on LibraryThing.
  25. It had been a traditional funeral Karen Rose - Nothing to Fear
