I watched the first two films of Bergman's Trilogy of Faith and I really liked it, I have the third one ready; as I dive through these less known films I become more of a von Sydow's fan.

I took a while to get used to this album, but since then I've listened to it quite often. I always come back to it.

I had to digest this news for a bit, but then I realize there must be plenty of written literature I haven't considered or don't know as well and these people should know what they're doing for us to value their opinions. Just today I studied a school text mentioning that Homer's works and Beowulf are supposed oral literature, and Saramago (a previous Nobel in Literature winner) also wrote his books to be read orally.

I received my new smartphone last week, the LG Nexus 5X. I'm really enjoying it, it has clean and fast software, a good build quality, and a good camera. Unfortunately the battery doesn't last long and the fingerprint reader is a bit faulty, but those are minor issues. I recommend it if you want a mid-range smartphone in specs and price.

I watched "Julieta", the new film by Pedro Almodóvar. It has been criticized for being low-key and unexpressive compared to his other films, but I prefer the simple plot and understated acting. It's based on some short stories by Alice Munro I haven't read, so I don't know how well they're portrayed; but I appreciated how well he adapted the practical elements of her work in general, even if he didn't quite pass the whole experience to the screen. The film has merits of its own, such as a solid production design and good acting, and I enjoyed it as it is. Charlotte Rampling and Gabriel Byrne were in two films from last year I enjoyed, "45 Years" and "Louder Than Bombs"; I think she had a great performance in the former.

I watched it too, I think it's nice.

In my house we keep the eggs in the cupboard if they're in a normal state, but put them in the fridge once they're boiled. I think in the US the eggs are washed before being released into the market, which cleans the egg but damages its protective coating; here the hens are vaccinated, so the eggs have no need to be washed before distribution.

During my night walks I begin to notice more quiet teenagers roaming the streets, which I think it's due to Pokémon Go and I honestly welcome it.

You have plenty of Batman books, I have that same edition of The Killing Joke.

This afternoon I watched Inherent Vice, directed by P. T. Anderson. A private detective receives three cases, by a former girlfriend, a former gang member, and a widow, that all somehow relate to a real estate mogul. I really enjoyed it, but the jargon and unorganized information demanded a wikipedia read to wrap up the plot. I think Katherine Waterston has a good performance despite seldom appearing on screen, I wish she'd accept more demanding roles.

I enjoyed the final two episodes, but the events now have eliminated all possible nuance in the story, because most surviving characters are straightforward in their actions and there's little deviation to what we could expect next season. I think the plot would be more interesting if they returned to the uncertainty and diversity of the first season(s) instead of writing the events people want to watch in order to get better ratings. They could also be more patient with the story, now there's no proper development and as a consequence we don't have the opportunity to appreciate the new characters and settings.

It's truly sad. With this I remembered something Obama said a few days ago, pertaining to gun laws (jump to 3:15)

I'm not enjoying this season as much, because there are several situations in which a character favoured by the audience gets saved (or further than that) by something unexpected. The writers could take the time to present these scenes in a more reasonable manner, but then these would be less spectacular. On a positive note, the dragon looks amazing.

It's not in the cinemas anymore, just here in Portugal. In the United Kingdom it came out one or two years ago; but you must find it as a dvd/blu-ray or in a streaming service.

I went to the cinema and watched Song of the Sea, directed by Tomm Moore. The simple adventure brought together a beautiful animation with interesting folktales and surprisingly nuanced characters for a children's film. I liked it quite a bit, and the singer had a nice voice.

Michelle is right, Windows 10 is being shifted to the recommended updates and so it becomes an automatic download. I wonder what's prompting Microsoft to this extreme action.

The aforementioned The Red Turtle, a Studio Ghibli/Wild Bunch film directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit.

This afternoon I watched Jodorowsky's Dune, a documentary about Alejandro Jodorowsky's doomed film adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune. It was a huge project, involving several high profile artists such as Salvador Dalí, Orson Welles and Pink Floyd. I think the film wouldn't be that good, because they were focused on hiring celebrities instead of actors, and Jodorowsky seemed to want everything in such a scale that I believe it couldn't possibly be achieved. However, the concept art is gorgeous; I'm particularly fond of Chris Foss's spaceships, but Jean Giraud and H.R. Giger's drawings were really cool as well. I would gladly buy the artbook, if there were one available.
