  1. I think I may have chosen a book that no-on has heard of ( Silver Pigs the first book in the Falco series by Lindsey Davis ), so I am putting another quote out there, everyone should know the Arthur and it is a classic :)

    The new quote :D

" She found, what has been sometimes found before, that an event to which she had looked forward with impatient desire, did not, in taking place, bring all the satisfaction she had promised herself. It was consequently necessary to name some other period for the commencement of actual felicity; to have some other point on which her wishes and hopes might be fixed, and by again enjoying the pleasure of anticipation, console herself for the present, and prepare for another disappointment."

  2. We all do. :) Even though I know it won't help me. I' d remember if I read something set in ancient Rome. :P

I didn't know that it was going to be as tough as this, I thought that at least one person would have heard of them.

The clue is that it is the first book in a very long series :)

Another quote (i hope this helps) :

"The senate Decimus Camillas Verus lived in the Capena Gate Sector. The Capena Gate was the district next but one to mine, so I walked. On the way I passed my youngest sister Main and at least two little roughnecks off our family tree.

Some informers give the impression we are solitary men. Perhaps that was were I went wrong. Every time I was surreptitiously trailing some adulterous clerk in a shiny tunic, I looked up to find one of these midgets wiping his nose on his arm and bawling my name across the street. I was a hobbled donkey in Rome. I must have been related to most woolen between the Tiber and the Ardeatine Gate.

I've only read books by one author that were mystery books set in ancient Rome (ages ago, in Dutch). So I'm just going to go for blank here and ask, is it a book by Steven Saylor?

Nope the series is written by a female British author :)

  3. Here's the quote:

"If you know anything about temples you will realize they have a single imposing entrance at the front. If you know anything about priests, you will have noticed they usually have a discreet little door for themselves somewhere at the back. The priests of Saturn did not disappoint us."

  4. Reaped man is another good one :) Vimes is my favorite character next to Rincewind so I would give any of the books with him in a try :) I wouldn't worry to much about trying to read them in order as I have read them randomly (depending on what books the library had if any :) ) for years an it never made that much of a difference to my understanding of the characters.

As for favorite books hmmm the list would have to start with The Last Continent as that was the first one I ever read and was the book that truly sparked my love of reading, then Guards! Guards!, The Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, The Times, Men at Arms and so on lol :)

  5. I watched 'The Sound of Music' yesterday afternoon. It's one of my favourite films and it's a must for New Year's Day. I doubt anyone in my house appreciated my singing though....but it has to be done with this film :D

So true! The sound of music is one of those movies that you can't watch without singing along :) :)

  6. Movies I have watched recently:

The Adventures of TinTin- I really injoyed this movie, I have always loved these crazy adventure movies ever since I saw my first Indiana Jones movie.

Cloud Atlas- this was another good movie. I was pleasantly surprised at the death that was in this movie.

Thin Ice- I have the feeling that this movie is going to be a favorite from now on.

  7. Some good books in your lists. The

Redemption of Althalus happens to be a firm favorite of mine as are all the Discworld books :D they are the book version of comfort food! If you are interested I would suggest you try the Riyria Revelations series by Michael J Sullivan, they were great books.

  8. I Liked it, thought it was good, but then I am a Quentin Tarantino fan.  If you don't like violence, it may be too much for you.

I have watch Django twice thoroughly enjoyed it both times. Loved all the little things he put into the movie. Thought the scene with the kkk was so over the top and ridiculous and so truly shows how stupid they were that one has to laugh at them.

  9. We watched Life of Pi. I liked the film, it should be interesting to see how I'll like the book. I've heard it has more elements of religion than the film and I'm not keen on lots of elements of religion, so we'll have to see.

Having both read the book and watched the movie, the main diffrence, that I saw, between the two was that you get to more of an idea of what he went through and what he was feeling as well as a more in depth idea of the relationship between he Tiger and Pi.
