I love this poem, I rather like a lot of his writing as I grew up reading it and having it read to me. At one point one of my favorite videos had all of his fairy tales on it...maybe not the best place to be saying this in context of the OP lol

Mmm chocolate... Although I do have to say that the smell of new books is just as likely to make me stay in a book shop for a while
. Another interesting smell fact is that the smell of onions frying makes in a house you are trying to sell makes people like your house more.

LOL I to am a fan of fantasy and have also noticed, not so much a lack of humor in fantasy, but more of a limited amount of people who write fantasy with humor. I am glad that you liked my idea, I had just finished reading a Discworld book and had just started a Xanth novel when I thought of it so that might be why it feels a bit DiscworldyI like your idea of a young wizard inheriting a kingdom, sounds like a fun read. I'm a fantasy fan myself which is probably why it appeals to me so much. It'd be nice to have some more humour in the genre rather than the typical good vs evil archetype.Your idea reminds me of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series (love the username btw
). . Vimes is a favorite character from Discworld as you may have noticed lol.
I read an article about writing and they suggested you should write about 750 words a day, they said that it didn't matter what you wrote, what mattered was the fact that you were writing and thinking about what to write. They said that it helped with ideas and improved the amount you were able to write in a day as well as improve your writing. I thought that it was interesting idea and started to write everyday but other things got in the wayI have to remind myself of this often. I used to have an English teacher back in school who published a book and won many awards for it. At the time I wanted to be just like her, but what I didn't see was the years of work that went on behind her success, all the competitions she entered and the hours of work she put into her craft everyday.
I've decided that my aim isn't to be published, but just to write everyday. I've found it reveals so much about your mind and how your thoughts come together, not to mention the improvements you notice as you keep writing.
P.S I noticed that you are readind a book by Haruki Murakami and was wondering if you had read A Wild Sheep Chase? It was the first book of his that I have read and I injoyed it and want to read some of his other books but haven't been able to find any

I haven't found any new words lately but these are a few of my favorite words that I have stumbled upon over time.
Anagnorisis - The moment of recognition or discovery (in a play, movie, etc.)
Bombilation - A sound that is like a droning, buzzing or humming.
This words suits the sound bees make on a summers day perfectly!
Curwhibble - A thing-a-ma-jig or a what-ya- ma-callit?
Finnimbrun - A knicknack or a trinket.

hobia - The fear of long words.
And it is the longest word I'v seen in a long time lol

I am busy reading the seventh book, Sharpe's Havoc, in the Sharpe series by Cornwell and am in enjoying it.

I love Cornwell and in fact is busy working my way through some of his Sharpe books but I have to confess to not recognizing the names Mantel or O'Brian lol. What books have they written?
I wouldn't say that Iggulden is less entertaining then say Cornwell but rather just different. Their styles are so different that it is for me hard to compare them, its a bit like trying to compare an Aston Martin with a tractor
. IMO it is more a matter of what kind of styles you like, like the question of fantasy in historical settings, than one or the other. -

lol I like historical fiction! The more fact following ones give me a great base denom which to start from when I want to learn about something. Being mildly dyslexic I can't really read a lot of the non-fiction history books as they are often date heavy and I that is problematic lol. I really did injoyed them and I learnt a lot from them and I will be looking up things about Caesar for a while yet

Oh I dunno if is was so unforgiveable. I can see why he made them the same age, it explains why they were so close and cuts out him needing to explain the how and why of that throughout the other books as well as adding to the weight of his betrayal. I kind of see it as a brilliant bit of writing because he was then free to move on at a good pace straight onto other more important points of the story.

Don't sound so happy about it!
I read the first book last year and enjoyed it. I picked up the rest for 99p each in a Kindle Daily Deal, so I shall be reading them at some point.
I read your review of the first book and I sort of agree with you that he bent history a little but he admits this at the end of the book. There is little known about Caesars early years growing up and through out the rest of the series he sticks far more to the actual events only leaving out small things or shortening years a little as it would take to long to say everything.
I sat and read all five in one go and I will be reading his other series about Genghis Khan when I get a chance. -
I have just finished reading this series and having always been interested in history and the things that happen after those great history making moments I found the series to be fascinating as it tells the life story and the history of Gaius Julius Caesar and what happen directly after he was killed. I have to say to was somewhat poetic justice for the people who were behind the plot to kill Caesar found themselves dealing it another Caesar and one who was far less inclined to let the past be the past
