  1. Nice review, Karsa! I'll have to give it a go sometime .
  2. I've read a bit more in Robert Jordan, Brandon Sanderson - Wheel of Time #13: Towers of Midnight but I'm a little ashamed to admit that in most of my spare time, I rearranged book shelves, went onto book sites etc. and read this forum . In short I've been busy with books, but not that much with actually reading them XD. But I'm having fun.
  3. Not nice that they keep declining you ><. @ libraries Here if you want to reserve a book from your own library it's free (I had to look it up), that's pretty good. If you want to borrow a book that is very popular though it'll cost you a bit of money, I don't know if other libraries have this. I used to go to libraries all the time when I was younger, then I started to read more and more English books though which our libraries don't have that much of (also, I'd read a lot of the interesting books in the libraries already, for those ages).
  4. Nice picture of those books! I only own the first volume, I'll reread it sometime and if I like it better this time (I'm older now), buy the rest. My cover is different but then I bought it ages ago.
  5. These days I don't write in any of my books. When I was younger, I wrote my name in a few that I lend to other people. This may sound odd but I've never thought of keeping a record of book quotes or passages. Is that weird? I've never really needed to I guess. Just recently, I've begun to take notes (on the computer) about books I've read. I guess my reading experience is improving!

    Bookie Mouse

    That is very cute!
  7. I don't mind at all! They are: Mark Valentine - The Werewolf Pack H. P. Lovecraft - The Whisperer in Darkness (Collected Short Stories 1) H. P. Lovecraft - The Horror at the Museum (Collected Short Stories 2) Gaston Leroux - Phantom of the Opera James Malcolm Rymer - Varney, the Vampire I'm ashamed to admit I haven't read any of them yet! So I can't tell you if they're good or not. I bought most of them for cheap on a book fair.

    Book fairs

I don't know if you have book fairs in other countries, since a few years ago I discovered the Netherlands has one! They're in a different city each month, and every year in the same place (usually..). They're also in Belgium. Inside the building that it's at, there's tables and tables of books (Dutch and English), information books as well as novels. There are also some comics and manga, as well as a bunch of miscellaneous things such as wrapping paper and things for children. Everything has been on display on book shops but they couldn't sell it. Most things are very cheaply priced compared to what you'd pay in a book shop. On occasion a book is damaged (don't buy it in that case, imo), most of the time it's in pretty good condition. It's generally busy, but lots of fun. Anyway, I go to book fairs sometimes and then come home with a load of books . It's always a lot of fun for bookwurm me . Has anyone else had any experience with a book fair? (I realise it may be completely different from my own, since most of you live in a different country etc)
  9. I liked the Bridget Jones films, are the books any good? (sorry if it's off topic) Judging by your post it seems you didn't really like them?
  10. I've rearranged my classics, no idea I had so many XD! The books at the top haven't been arranged that nicely, I was on my own and I can hardly reach up there. Anyway, this may be something temporary since I'm hoping to buy a new book case. EDIT: I actually bought a lot of these literary books at book fairs, for a cheap price. I saw them and thought they might be interesting to read, since I hadn't read a lot of foreign literature before (mostly Dutch).
  11. My parents own a few of them in Dutch. They've been on my TBR list for a while, nowadays though I prefer the original English versions so I might have to go out and buy the originals. My parents liked the books. I've seen The Da Vinci Code the film, I liked it.
  12. Those are beautiful pictures!!
  13. I didn't know GoodReads would be telling you things like that (that's pretty neat)! I haven't committed to a challenge (yet at least), I'm not sure if I want to because I might experience it as too much pressure.
  14. I really like that film! It's so sweet, romantic and funny.
  15. I am ashamed to admit I thought the exact same thing .
  16. Looks good . I hope your dinner was nice .
  17. Welcome!
  18. My boyfriend gifted it to me recently, we haven't gotten around to opening it. I've seen most episodes on TV, he hasn't seen any episodes so soon we'll watch the whole season together . EDIT Dawson's Creek is a leftover from my younger years. I haven't watched it in ages, liked it at the time though.
  19. Thanks for all your comments .
  20. I love books by Sophie Kinsella, she's one of my favourite authors. I haven't read them all yet (bought them all though), but those I've read have all got a 5 star rating from me. I've read all of the Shopaholic series and a few of her standalone books. It's hard to give a favourite book, I kind of just like them all XD. I suppose the Shopaholic series would have to be my favourite so far, I've really enjoyed those books. Although Becky annoyed me a bit at first, once I got through that I found the story really funny.
  21. My favourite Jodi Picoult book is My Sister's Keeper so far, but I've only read a few of her books. My second favourite is House Rules. I didn't really like Songs of the Humpback Whale, I've abandoned it halfway through, might pick it up some other time and read it. Most of her other books are on my TBR list. I own nearly all of her books, except the co authored one (on my wishlist) and Keeping Faith, the one about religion (I'm not sure if it won't be too preaching). Has anyone read it, is it very preaching or is the story good enough that it doesn't bother you? I'm uncomfortable with books that preach religion too much.
  22. @Tim: Thanks! I hope you enjoy The Wheel of Time series too . The 13th book so far is great, after that it's waiting for the paperback release of book 14, for me. I still have the prequel to read too, will likely read it before book 14 is out in paperback. EDIT: That's great to hear Karsa!
  23. There is a film called Stardust, I looked it up and it is apparently based on the novel! I've recorded it from TV ages ago (I think) and still haven't watched it, I want to watch it even more now that I know it's based on a Neil Gaiman book.
  24. Awww that sucks . I hope you feel better soon! I've just been ill for 2 weeks so I can understand a bit how you feel. It's snowed here today too, it's nice when you don't have to go outside, when you do have to go outside, it's not nice at all. Bah that's stupid .
  25. I feel the same way. Enjoy your dinner I don't know what chappattis is but I like curry.
