  1. I've asked my boyfriend if he knew the books and it turns out he's got them all XD (he may have told me about them before but I may have forgotten ). He likes them, so I'm definately going to borrow them too . He says there is indeed content in later volumes that isn't in the film.
  2. We're making homemade pizza tonight. Mine will include smoked chicken, chorizo, salami, bacon bits, mozzerella and some vegetables (ie. mushrooms, paprika/pepper, etc.). Normally we use a bag of chopped vegetables, I'm not sure if we have one at the moment. I'm not sure yet exactly which toppings, since my boyfriend and I will share a pizza and we generally just make one with the toppings on it everywhere the same (since that's the easiest). So it'll depend on what he feels like having, what I've described above is what we usually have.
  3. It's pretty rare, most of the time we are one year behind the US, since last year though the channel that's showing TBBT is only a few months behind the US with showing the episodes, which is really good. I'm enjoying watching them on TV, then I buy (or are gifted) the season on DVD or Blu-ray once that's released. So far they've shown a few episodes of season six, and it's pretty good so far. I missed two episodes unfortunately (didn't know they'd begun showing season six), but the rest of them were pretty good. I hope you'll see them sometime too in Finland!
  4. Here are some pictures of my book cases as they are at the moment. I'm planning to buy a new book case to replace an older cabinet (and in there to put all my classic books to the front and some chick-lit in the back row). I'll post a picture once that's done! It should look prettier than it is at the moment. My classic books are mostly on the back rows of this closet and on the top back (unfortunately, would love to show my collection of those to you all). There are also some DVDs on one back row, and some chicklit and contemporary fiction at the top back. Most of the books you can see are non-fiction, chick-lit, contemporary and historical fiction, thrillers and classic literature. My fiction and fantasy book cases: My fantasy, thriller, detective book case: My science-fiction (and a bit of fantasy) book case: There are only a few books on this book case (mostly information books): I'm hoping, in a few years, when I live in a new house, that I'll have a bit more space for my books and can line it all up nicely. We'll have to see though, I'm not sure how much space I'll have.
  5. Yep I can . Thanks .
  6. This is exciting, I wish you lots of fun!! His new book sounds quite interesting.
  7. This sounds good! I assume you have seen the film? I really like the film, is the book following the same storyline?
  8. Added to my wishlist! I've read about these for school (my Greek lessons) but it'd be great to read the original (albeit in English).
  9. I can't see it either, not sure why. It's not just your topic, I've seen other, old topics that have the same thing. I thought it was just me. At any rate, would like to see those pictures, I like dogs!
  10. Yesterday I watched two episodes of Star Trek - The Original Series (my boyfriend gave me a Blu-ray for my birthday) and one episode of The Big Bang Theory (they're showing season six now on TV here, BBT is one of my favourite shows). It was all good .
  11. Welcome to the forum! I joined the forum recently and have been having a great time, everyone's so friendly, the topics discussed are interesting and I've come across many great recommendations for new books to read. I hope you enjoy it here .
  12. Quite a few books you've got on your TBR list that I've got on mine too, and some more that I've got on my wishlist. I look forward to hear how you like them! Have a good year reading .
  13. I've read a few books by Stephen King, It is my favourite. The fact that I read it when I was a lot younger, probably helps with it as for me reading it is partially nostalgia (if that makes sense). I've got a few more of his books on my wishlist, such as 11/22/63 since I've heard good things about them. I don't read a lot of horror these days but as far as horror writers go I think Stephen King is one of the best I've read (for adults). The Shining.., I've seen the movie but not read the book. Added it to my wishlist.
  14. Some of my favourite manga series include: Kare Kano (His and Her Circumstances) Love Hina Fruits Basket Suzuka With the Light On my TBR list are: More Ah My Goddess More Chobits These are all owned by my boyfriend. He's more of a manga fan than me (I like it a lot though).
  15. I generally read quite a few pages before I abandon a book, I hardly ever abandon books. I could also be lucky in that the books I pick to read, I like a lot most of the time. There are a few books I've abandoned over the years, but they are really few. Generally I read them about half-way or something, before I abandon them.
  16. Very scary! I'm glad you rescued them. Poor books. Have a good year reading, btw .
  17. Good luck, I hope you find more enjoyment out of it than last time ! I've got both trilogies on my TBR list. My sister has read the Black Magician trilogy, she liked the books so I have good hopes I'll like them too.
  18. I also like video games. I own quite a lot of them, but I can't play them all that often because of my input problem. Most of the time I play with the sound turned off. I especially like role playing games, tower defense and strategy games. I used to like first person shooters too, but not that much anymore. I mostly play on the PC and I play a few games on my DS. I haven't used my PlayStation 3 for gaming in a while and I've not used the Wii for an even longer amount of time. Some of my favourite games that I've played in the past while: The Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim Mass Effect series Dragon Age: Origins Defender's Quest Defense Grid: The Awakening TellTale's games, ie. Sam & Max, Tales of Monkey Island Torchlight series Worms Reloaded Pokémon games on the DS I still need to finish some of these. I just find that, especially when I'm a bit tired, reading is so much easier.
  19. I prefer to read a series in order, however on rare occasion I don't know that a book is part of a series and hence I start with ie. part two. Most of the time I read them in order. On the whole I prefer to wait until I have the whole series before I start reading it. I don't like to read too many series at once, waiting for the next book to come out. Of course there are exceptions, I started reading ie. the Wheel of Time series before it's finished, among many other series. I find often I can at least read the first book, because it usually has an ending. This isn't always true though. So while I prefer to wait, I often don't XD.
  20. I have only been cataloguing how many books I read in a certain time period, since last May (40+ books from May until December). Generally though it depends on what kind of books I read, on rare occasion I read one book or less than one book per week, most often though I read 3-4 books per week. When I was younger I could read 7 books per week (one book per day) or even more than that (10 books per week?). It depends on what other things I'm doing, too.
  21. That's good to hear! I've translated parts of it from ancient Greek to Dutch, for school. I've been tempted to buy it in English and read it.. maybe I should. I do like ancient Greek mythology and stories.
  22. Because it's my mum's birthday, I just had some cake! This morning I had 'whipped cream cake' (with apricot jam in the middle), this afternoon 'stroopwafelvlaai' (syrup waffle cake, stroopwafels are a type of Dutch cookies).
  23. Thanks I'll have to make some new pictures and post them! I was already wondering if there was a topic about it. I have some pictures of my book cases, but since some of the books are hidden behind other books, I only have photos of the outside rows. It would be good if I made some photos of the inside rows too. I know, I need more space XD. EDIT: Hmm I'm now realising, it would be quite a bit of work if I want to pull out all the books on the outer rows XD. I'll have to have a think about it!
  24. I own 1000+ books. If I also count my children's books (and books meant for teenagers), I'd have 1500+ books I think. There are plenty more on my wishlist .
  25. I don't use any e-reader. If I lived in the UK and was interested in an e-reader I would probably get a Kindle (probably a fancy one at that). If not that, then I'd get a Sony Reader (PRS-T2), since that's what my brother and sister have (if I remember it correctly) and they like theirs (I researched it for my brother). The thing is, because I live in the Netherlands, Amazon would charge me extra for Kindle files, making it cheaper for me to order physical books from them than Kindle books I think. If you buy ebooks from a Dutch shop, it'll cost a bit as all books cost a bit here (not sure how many English ones are sold). At any rate, so far I much prefer a physical book.
