  1. Yesterday / On Sunday I read Illegal by Eoin Colfer, Andrew Donkin, Giovanni Rigano and Chris Dickey, My Brother's Husband Volume 1 and My Brother's Husband Volume 2 by Gengoroh Tagame, and Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me by Mariko Tamaki and Rosemary Valero-O'Connell. I had a lot of fun during this read-a-thon ! I hope you (Hayley, Marie, Karen) did too!
  2. I'm glad the ending was spectacular ! I hope you like Moon over Soho and that it improves further on in the book like Hayley said . Happy reading with some manga ! Oh yes, I get like that too sometimes. Thanks . I didn't read lots yesterday, but what I read I enjoyed a lot. I read The Best We Could Do by Thi Bui, a graphic memoir about their life and their family's life in Vietnam and as immigrants in the US. It was an excellent read. Just before bed I re-read a children's illustrated book, Tom Gates 2: Excellent Excuses (and Other Good Stuff) by Liz Pichon, which was enjoyable to re-read.
  3. I loved The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. I'm glad you liked it! Nice to read your review on it. Yes, the concept on AIs gets explored more in the second book, there is a third book as well though I enjoyed the first one the most and the third one the least.
  4. Good to know ! I wasn't sure if you knew about it, so I thought I'd mention it in my post. I hope the price and date won't be too bad. Will you let me know if you need help? I'm glad it was a really good read ! I'm sorry it didn't help you sleep though! I hope you got / are getting some more sleep . I hope you find another nice book that you feel in the mood to read . I've been reading quite a lot on Thursday afternoon/evening and on Friday (yesterday). On Thursday I read Komi Can't Communicate Volumes 5, 6 and 7, all by Tomohito Oda. I then read the first two books in the Captain Underpants series by Dav Pilkey, book 2 was a re-read actually (I read a library copy of it some years ago). Lastly I read a short picture book called Supertato: Books are Rubbish by Sue Hendra and Paul Linnet. Yesterday in the afternoon I read some graphic novels / memoirs, I read Sunny 3: Sunny rolls the Dice by Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm (col. by Lark Pien) (good), Stepping Stones by Lucy Knisley (good), French Milk by Lucy Knisley (really didn't like it), Snug by Catana Chetwynd (good), Happily Ever After & Everything in Between by Debbie Tung (really good), and They Called Us Enemy by George Takei, Justin Eisinger, Steven Scott and Harmony Becker (excellent).
  5. I'm glad the audiobook had an excellent narrator! I read Going Solo, and also Boy, some years ago, but I didn't like them as much as I do Roald Dahl's childrens books (which I remember from my youth so nostalgia is a part of my feelings for those books). I'm glad you really liked Going Solo .
  6. I have Elizabeth is Missing on my TBR, I won it in a giveaway a while ago. I'm glad you liked it! I've only heard one other person mentioning it (the person whose giveaway I won, though I didn't intend to participate and just commented because she's an acquaintance/friend ). I'm glad you liked Dune . I've only ever read the paperbook, as I don't do audiobooks, so not sure how that experience is. I look forward to read your more in depth thoughts on the book in your thread in due time. This weekend I'm reading graphic novels, graphic memoirs and manga because of the read-a-thon. I've go 3 books planned to start next week, that I'm reading together with 3 friends (1 book with each friend).
  7. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne (I don't have an interest in reading it but I've heard people talk about it online so that's what popped into my head!)
  8. ! You have a point! So I did some reading yesterday after reading your post on my phone . Happy reading Hayley, Karen and Marie!! I can't seem to @ tag anyone, I think that's broken (it just keeps spinning for me, not coming up with anything).
  9. I am super tempted to start a couple of my read-a-thon reads today, as I have a few hours of spare time this afternoon, and I will be busy for parts of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.. Should I..?
  10. Some really short bookish thoughts, because I am feeling quite sleepy and tired. E. J. Copperman - Haunted Guesthouse Mystery 3.5: A Wild Ghost Chase A novella that's part of the Haunted Guesthouse Mystery series, I liked it but not as much as the main novels (I've read 5 of them so far I think). Eoin Colfer - Artemis Fowl 5: Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony Another enjoyable read in this series. E. J. Copperman - Haunted Guesthouse Mystery 4.5: An Open Spook Same as the previous novella, I enjoyed it but not as much as the main novels. George Mahood - Free Country UK travel memoir of George and his friend Ben who have the plan to cycle from End-to-End in 3 weeks, not being allowed to spend any more and starting off wearing just boxershorts. I liked this memoir. Alice Oseman - Loveless YA contemporary fiction novel about a girl named Georgia who is going to the first year of university and discovers she is ace-aro (asexual and aromantic). I liked it a lot. Leah Johnson - You Should See Me in a Crown YA contemporary fiction novel about a poor queer Black teenage girl who wants to win prom queen so she can use the money as a scholarship to go to the university she wants to go to. I really liked this book a lot. Loes den Hollander - Pijngrens Dutch literary thriller involving 2 airplane accidents and several characters. I liked it a lot. Luc Descamps - Gewoon kwetsbaar Luc Descamps - Gewoon anders (re-read) Luc Descamps - Gewoon leven Luc Descamps - Gewoon gevoelig 4 (Belgian) YA contemporary books, each with a different plot, all around 150-210 pages. I liked all 4 of them. Michael McCreary - Funny, You Don't Look Autistic Autism memoir by a Candian comedian. I liked it quite a bit. I didn't like how the (white) author used the word 'tribe' a lot. Ok, that's all of August's reads caught up.
  11. Nice that you can join us, Marie !
  12. I love Stargate Atlantis! And the Marvel films and the Star Trek films. Nr 4 is my favourite . We've been watching Doctor Who too, though I've not seen it before so it's a new-to-me watch, and we're watching slightly newer eps from the 2010's (we're on series 5 atm, though lately we've been watching some anime instead, for example we rewatched the anime film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya). I hope you can re-watch The Lord of the Rings film soon .
  13. I really like Dune, I've read it 3 times I think. I hope you like it! I'm currently reading Middlegame by Seanan McGuire, an adult fantasy novel. I'm liking it a lot so far (though I've not read it in much today yet).
  14. a lot of these are really great!! I had not heard of paraprosdokians, what a nice word!
