  1. Oooh I have Sandi Toksvig's Between the Stops on my TBR! I'm glad you enjoyed it, Chrissy . I'm still reading Artemis Fowl 8: Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian (or De laatste bewaker in Dutch) by Eoin Colfer, I expect to finish it today. I'm also still reading Fablehaven 4: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary by Brandon Mull, my friend and I are about halfway through. I started When Life Gives You Mangos by Kereen Getten, which I'm reading together with another friend, I expect I'll finish it today. And I finished Gemina, and started my re-read of Obsidio, The Illuminae Files 3 (a re-read). I wish you all a good weekend!!
  2. Hi!! Sorry for my absence. I've been feeling overwhelmed with news and social media the past few days, so I decided to take a break from my computer/laptop/phone, and read and take walks instead.
  3. They're still missing, unfortunately. I guess it must be just me then, at least the rest of you can see the images! Oddly enough, I just checked and Google Chrome as guest can see the images, but FireFox logged in as Athena cannot. I updated Firefox yesterday, so that's not it. I don't know.. I guess if it happens again I can try using Google Chrome and see if the image(s) show up.
  4. 3 images are missing I think. Aside from that one, there is: http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/2804-funny-story-joke-corner/&do=findComment&comment=506181 Ugh why did it post all of a sudden oops http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/2804-funny-story-joke-corner/&do=findComment&comment=506237 They are two posts by Muggle Not.
  5. Oh wow I've never heard the 'embers of the year expression before! I'm reading 3 books at the moment. 2 are buddy reads, 1 is a reread. I'm reading Artemis Fowl 8: Artemis Fowl and the Last Guardian (or De laatste bewaker in Dutch) by Eoin Colfer with a friend, I'm reading Fablehaven 4: Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary by Brandon Mull with another friend, and my re-read is The Illuminae Files 2: Gemina (I loved this trilogy and felt in the mood to re-read it. I finished book 1 Illuminae a few days ago).
  6. Oh wow Hayley, you've had a lot going on!
  7. http://www.bookclubforum.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/2804-funny-story-joke-corner/&do=findComment&comment=506083 For me the images posted in this thread give weird text errors.. I don't know if it's my computer or whether it doesn't work since the update. If anyone is around and willing, could you check the thread (it's the Funny story & Joke Corner thread) and see if you do see images? Or at least check if you see this one below (a screenshot of said topic and what it looks like to me):
  8. Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge
  9. I'm glad the forum is back up! Thank you so much, Hayley!!
  10. I've added all the books I've read in September on the first page .. but not sure if anyone wants to read my thoughts on all of them.. EDIT: P.S. I couldn't add the link using the icon in the bar, it errored for me. So I added it manually using code. Just in case anyone's confused, that's how I did that.
  11. I'm currently re-reading Zondagskind by Judith Visser. The sequel Zondagsleven has just come out, but before I read it I wanted to re-read the first book Zondagskind. I'm just over halfway through my re-read and I'm loving every page. This book is one of my favourite books and I'm really looking forward to reading the sequel after I finish Zondagskind. Today I started reading Eoin Colfer - Artemis Fowl 7: Artemis Fowl en het Atlantiscomplex (Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex), which I'm reading together with a friend. We'll be reading a chapter a day (ish) (because my friend is pretty busy with uni studies). I read the first chapter today (and the prologue) and it is interesting.. definitely not what I was expecting (but then I didn't read the synopsis of the book before I started reading, I did that after and well that is some of the stuff that happened so haha).
  12. Four Mice Deep in the Jungle by Geronimo Stilton (original Italian title: Quattro Topi Nella Giungla Nera; Dutch title: Knagers in het donkere woud)
  13. I rewatched Dirty Dancing a few days ago, it was nice to see it again .
  14. I hope your reading mojo gets better soon ! Yay for an Artemis Fowl book going well . I've read the first 6 now, book 6 is my favourite, so far. I'm going to read book 7 later this month (and then hopefully book 8 in either November or December). I hope you enjoy(ed) all of book 5 .
  15. Thanks, it is feeling better ! Awww I hope your niece is okay ! I hope you enjoy The Ladies of Grace Adieu . Yay for your enjoyable audiobooks! I hope you enjoy The Thursday Murder Club . I'm glad you had fun reading, even if it wasn't the most productive read-a-thon . I really liked the book too . I saw the film many years ago and liked it, but I haven't seen it since. On Saturday evening I read Mees Kees 1: Een pittig klasje by Mirjam Oldenhave, and I read 30 pages in Geronimo Stilton 2: Een noodkreet uit Transmuzanië by Geronimo Stilton. On Sunday I finished the latter, and then read Stick Dog 2: Stick Dog Wants a Hot Dog by Tom Watson, Barry Loser 2: I Am Still Not a Loser by Jim Smith, I re-read Big Nate 2: Big Nate Strikes Again by Lincoln Peirce, I re-read Wilf the Mighty Worrier 1: Wilf the Mighty Worrier Saves the World by Georgia Pritchett (ill. Jamie Littler), and lastly I re-read Treehouse 2: The 26-Storey Treehouse by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.
