  1. I'm getting some next week. Did the math and realized that the money I spend on contacts would have paid for the new glasses. I'll order them this week and get them after Christmas.
  2. It's been rainy and gray with dropping temps. I love this season!
  3. More than half way through Ken Follett's "Fall of Giants." I get entrenched in it every time I open it up.
  4. June, I'm glad your sister in law is doing better. Anna, we did the AG doll with our youngest. It was expensive. I got our little Sally her first Cabbage Patch doll. Can't wait till she opens it! Off to work in a few hours.
  5. Can't wait to see Paddington. Saw the previews and absolutely LOVED it. Me and my boys are going to be first in line! !
  6. I enjoyed both books but "Silkworm" left me with some disturbing mental visuals that still linger months later.
  7. Feel like watching something completely mindless so I'm killing braincells with Little Britian, season 1.
  8. Just got back from seeing the Hobbit. Loved it and almost shed a few tears. I can't believe it's over.
  9. Half way through Fall of Giants. Completed Bertie Plays the Blues and Sister Chicks Go Brit.
  10. Anna, I must have missed that one, glad you're ok! Chrissy, you always seem to have the bestest trips!! I've been busy with the bookstore, the kids, etc... been pretty worn out last week. I normally work weekends only but I had the opportunity to get some extra days during the week as I let the kids go a day early for the Thanksgiving holiday. I worked from Wednesday thru Sunday, 8 hours a day, on my feet. By Sunday I could barely walk but had to travel 2 hours away, in pouring rain, to pick the littles up. Then it was time to drop them off again this past Thursday and pick up my two sons. When I went to work today I kept thinking it was Monday. After getting my paycheck I have decided not to work anymore weekdays, or not to work more than 20 hours a week. For all the extra work the pay cannot compensate for the pain. Black Friday wasn't too bad at the bookstore. Mainly because we seem to know how to behave!! Iabsolutely refused to do any shopping yesterday or today, just on principal. Those poor workers having to leave home and hearth to go to work on a day given to "family." Best believe those who are in charge and are owners got to spend the day with THEIR families. Ugh...off my soap box, lmbo!! I'm now going to do a quick peruse of the net and then head to sleep as I need to be up by 0530 in order to do my hair.
  11. Self righteously stingy
  12. Cold as "witch's..."
  13. I've worn them. My experience is a bit tainted because they didn't work the way they were supposed to and considering I laid out about $600 for them, I was a bit disgusted. The problem was that they were not fitted correctly so I found myself still needing to wear my reading glasses. What I found out was that the eye tech didn't correctly fit me so my glasses looked like any other pair. I will get them again but I won't be going to the Walmart eye center to order them. When they work, they are great.
  14. I'm starting Louise Eldrich's The Round House today. I'm probably going to pick another to read along side. I'm finding I enjoy reading more than one book at a time. Athena, I really enjoyed both books. It did take me a little aback the way she had several characters "speak" throughout the book. I think she had about 7 characters and she would bounce between all of their stories (which centered around a sacred well that might be torn down to make a road. People prayed to the patron saint who would grant their hearts desires). Once I was able to keep up with the individual stories I really enjoyed it.
  15. Finished Whitethorn Woods and 16 Tara Road by Maeve Binchy.
  16. I'm watching Moon Boy. Decided to give it a go.
  17. Athena, you have to apply for a heater? You can't just buy one and set it up? Woke up yesterday to temps in the 20's. I'm not complaining, it's so much different then we're used to.
  18. Happy Birthday Emelee! Hope it was a great one! I started back at Barnes and Noble today and I must say that I really enjoyed it. I'll go into more detail in my thread!
  19. So excited, I start work on Friday @ Barnes & Noble!!!

      Thanks all! It went great!

  20. My real name is Tracy. There were four of us and we each spelled or names differently. Tracy (me) Tracey, Traci and Tracie. Our teacher resorted to pointing add which ever Tracy, Tracey, Traci or Tracie she wanted.
  21. Homemade chili!
  22. I just want enough to keep the bills paid, food on the table, savings for the old age and the odd trip every now and then. I've always said I didn't want to be rich because it will bring more problems and "family" out of the wood works. Of course, if I came into a large sum, I'd donate some to my church, give the kids something to start out with and the mothers a nice comfy retirement. Other family members would be hard pressed to know where we got it from as it would be done anonymously!
  23. Midsomer Murders. Gotta love it on a cold Sunday afternoon!
  24. Thanks Athena. Life has been full of chaos, sadness, laughter and joy. I've learned to roll with what can't be changed and rejoice in the knowledge that everything happens for a reason. Some days can be trying but I can ALWAYS get a laugh out of it! Laughing at myself keeps me grounded and since I'm always doing something odd/half-baked and stupid, I get a lot of laughs. Sorrow has made me appreciate what I've got daily so its a rainbow kind of existence. In general, life is good.
  25. Finishing up Maeve Binchy's Whitethorn Woods and starting then I'll be settling in with Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness. I also plan to squeeze in Louise Erdrich, The Round House.
