  1. I'm watching Into the West. Its about two families (Native American and White) who are caught up in the Westward expansion and how their lives intertwine. Its an epic movie for tv that I found on dvd.
  2. Had a lovely time at church this morning and now I'm wrapped in my afghan watching The Ten Commandments (with Charlton Heston). I took my meds for my neck and its rendered me pretty lazy so lazy I'll be. Hubby loves cooking so I don't have to do dinner today.
  3. Woke up this morning to a VERY quiet house. No little ones climbing in the bed and crawling on top of papa, no baby gurgling in her playpen, no 5 and 6 year old's growling tummy demanding a breakfast of pancakes. Even the dog is out of sorts, almost like she knows that they won't be living here anymore. As I've done all the putting away yesterday and last night there really is nothing for me to do. Everything that I want to do as far as cosmetic stuff for the house has to wait until we get some money so its pretty much prepping for that great great day. Guess I'll do some online job searching. Hubby has been getting calls about his resume so hopefully something will come through. Sometime today we'll be going exploring downtown and then have a nice belated anniversary dinner. All this unaccustomed time, wow.
  4. Took my little ones to meet their parents. It was hard to say good bye and even harder to come home without them being here. What a bitter sweet day. Today was our anniversary and we had to pack their things away. I miss them so much. My two oldest cried when I talked to them. They're happy with going to mommy and daddy but it still broke their hearts. Tomorrow starts a new chapter.
  5. Home, with Jim Parsons and Rhihanna. The trailer is HILARIOUS!!!
  6. I spent the day packing the littles' toys and clothes. They will be moving back with mommy and daddy on Wednesday. We will miss them SO much but part of the process of healing is for them to be together. The parents are in a better place and mental space. They have moved in with his dad in another state and its for the better. It will give us a place to visit and its only 3 hours away. Now hubby and I have to adjust to pretty much empty nesters. Our youngest is 19 and works. When he's not working he's with his friends so its almost like he's not here. I do make him call me daily so I can just hear his voice. I can't say I'll miss the broken sleep and midnight feedings. The 22 month old climbs in our bed every morning. This morning I got sucker punched in the nose and headbutted. So yeah, that part I WONT miss! We can now focus on job searching and getting to know our new community. There hasn't been much time for exploring since we've had the children since we moved here. New beginnings, gotta love them!
  7. Took the dog for a walk. We did 1.47 miles. I would have done more but I have this condition that basically means I am allergic to sweat. Seriously, I get burning sensation on my inner thighs, arms and chest area and will break out in hives. I have to take an antihistamine an hour before working out. For some reason it didn't work this morning so I had to cut it short. Most times if it gets too bad someone has to pick me up quick or I might be arrested for indecent exposure because the condition really makes you want to strip and scratch. Boot camp was hell. I guess I'll spend the day tiding up my desk and getting some administrative paperwork taken care of.
  8. I love those pics! No snow on my end but the northern states are expecting a blizzard of apocalyptic proportions.
  9. Spent the day on the road picking the kids up. They won't have weekend visits for a few weeks as they are packing up and moving over the weekend. He's getting out of the Marine Corp on 3 February and they are moving to Atlanta Georgia. The kids should bemail with them by the middle of the month. It's amazing how my little ones grow over a weekend. Since I did the driving hubby is doing the spaghetti dinner. We both bathed all five of them. I love team work! After they get settled I will be taking my meds for the arthritis pain in my neck. Spinal fusion can't fix that. So dinner and resting is in order me thinks!
  10. I'm watching Doc Martin, starting at season 1.
  11. Took my boys to see Paddington! We had the ENTIRE theater to ourselves and they had a ball!!! Watching their little faces and seeing their wonder was worth the empty pockets.
  12. Took the boys to see Paddington. They LOVED it! I want aware that Nicole Kidman costars in the movie. We had the entire theater to ourselves. The next movie we're going to is "Home" with Jim Parsons and Rihanna. Hilarious trailer! http://variety.com/2014/film/news/watch-home-trailer-jim-parsons-rihanna-dreamworks-1201219583/
  13. Thanks Abby and Nollaig! She's still blind in the eye but the swelling is going down, that is a good thing. She seems to be making the best of it. Tomorrow is her son's 5th birthday and she's occupying herself trying to find someone to bake him a cake. I'm taking the kids down on Wednesday since I have a doctors appointment. Her headache is pretty much gone so the visit should be more enjoyable. I decided to revisit my blog. Its been sitting there, like an albatross around my neck for over a year. I can't seem to make up my mind exactly which direction I want to take it but I know I must take it somewhere. I plan to copy write it once I get to the six month period of consistent writings. Once money is involved, I HAVE to commit! I'm also watching Middlemarch.
  14. Thanks pontalba, great sites!! I might need to spend a few days exploring all the links. dtr, you've listed some of my favorites! I didn't forget this thread but we've been dealing with some family and medical issues that have kept me a little distracted. There are really so many titles that I think it would be easier for me to do this by author instead of timeline. This also makes for a more varied challenge. How does that sound? Zora Neal Hurston Margaret Mitchell Alice Walker Eudora Wetly William Faulkner Solomon Northup Pat Conroy to name a few. Any other names to put in the pot?
  15. No snow here. The sun is shining and we're hitting the 60'f mark today. By the middle of the week we may hit 70. We're going to toss the kids outside, whether they want to go out or not!
  16. I love, love, love Northern Exposure! I stumbled upon a show on Acorn, London Irish. Very interesting.
  17. Thanks Kylie, Gaia and Chrissy. The swelling has gone down some but no return of her vision.
  18. Thank you Kylie. The doctor didn't want to raise our hopes she's got 4 and she didn't seek help sooner. She's 25 in August.
  19. Had to take our daughter to the eye doctor today. Her husband took her to the emergency room last night because she was having trouble seeing. They called in an optometrist. She said DD had ulcers on her retina. She can only see white out of that eye. She might lose her sight in her right eye. I'm heartbroken for her. I took the kids for their visitation and had to pick them up because her head is splitting from the pain. She can't bare light or noise. Things just keep getting worse but we won't be broken!
  20. Thanks Abbie! He's either playing "peekaboo" or "OHGODitsMONDAY!"
  21. I'm watching this new show on HGTV (features house hunting and renovations, etc). Its called Rent or Buy. Couples bicker back and forth about purchasing and renting. Pretty cool. Next I'm going to watch Pride and Prejudice with Greer Garson.
  22. I woke up achy today (well everyday for a few months now) and have decided to take it easy after I get some chores done. The little ones have already been fed and bathed and the laundry is just about done. I'll take it easy, or as easy as one can take it with five littles roaming around, on the prowl and rooting around ALWAYS for food! Today is the day that I get some reading done!
  23. Its a full time job searching for a job. The idea of rebuilding my resume, doing interviews and filling out applications is daunting. Spent a few hours at the local library and got frustrated. I walked out the house without my earphones. Never again (assuming I utilize the facilities for job searching again). One woman was completely clueless! The phone rang constantly and she had no idea that she should have put the thing on silent before sitting down and if she felt the need to answer it, to get up and GO AWAY. Ugh! At one point the cow actually called someone to bring her FOOD! I packed it in and called it a day. I will do my searches from home. I got a few really good resume building books and I have the websites of all the places I want to apply to. When I get the resume built, I'll have someone look at it and help me polish it. No more public places for me! I've got my printer and fax at home so yeah, I'll just venture out only when I have to.
