  1. I have no idea what happened to me. I would want a cup of coffee in the morning and after fixing it, I could never finish the cup. Weird. I even seem to not like the smell during certain parts of the day. I miss the thought of having coffee!
  2. I need to get the kids their flu shots tomorrow, along with my own, ugh.
  3. I was such a big coffee fan but all of a sudden, I can't finish a cup. I have now switched to tea. Yorkshire tea, specifically. I love it! Have you ever found yourself just "off" the coffee? Was it permanent? Or did you go off the tea and switch to coffee? No matter how off I get with the coffee, I always keep some home just in case. You never know!
  4. Slept a little later today but already I'm feeling a little tired. Getting five little ones fed, dressed and settled for the morning can do that. I have to take the dogs to the groomers this afternoon so hubby will come home and stay with the kids while I do that. Its pretty much my escape, lol. The critters are so filthy. Kizzy hasn't been to the groomers in over a month, right before we moved. King may have been groomed before we got him but I can't be sure. He broke his collar so I had to purchase a new one just I can take him to Petsmart. I also need to get him his new name tag and get Kizzy a new one also as it has our old address on it. Their chips are up to date but its so much simpler to have the tags on. Seems a waste of money because they will come home and go into the back yard and dig in the dirt... We also have a visitation from social services for us to sign some papers for the children. Tomorrow I will be taking them to visit their mom and maybe their dad, we'll see.
  5. Me and the hubby are looking forward to How To Get Away With Murder!" We mostly watch the old favorites like HGTV and the Travel Channel.
  6. Yes, we're lucky to have that option. Our school system here sucks, to put it nicely. I can purchase my materials, create my own or use a state sponsored k12 program (which defeats the purpose of getting away state education). Thank God for the awesome online resources available for free!
  7. Today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining and the temps are lovely. Hubby got up and made pancakes for the little ones and I've gotten them dressed and started on their school work. We'll be home today, I plan to let them outside to do some crafty stuff. Little Sally is very clingy in the morning so whatever I do requires me to do it with one hand. The baby is still sleeping and the dogs are flea scratching. Within the next week or so I need to develop a really good homeschooling program for the kids as public school looks out of the question (mommy can't get it together enough to get me the paper work to enroll them, "it seems to permanent.") so, I'll provide their schooling until such time as they are returned at home or I have permanent custody. I also want to start moving my books into the house and cleaning my storage area out so I can actually STORE stuff in there! There are some festivals and such that I want to try to make depending on childcare. Mustn't stop living cause I'm caring for my grands.
  8. Lol, Athena! I've read all the books AND listened to all the DVDs I just love the thought of finally reading them electronically!
  9. Why is it 0615 and ALL FIVE CHILDREN ARE AWAKE?! I foresee early naps and bedtimes today, and it's only 0730. I think we'll spend some time outside cleaning the backyard.
  10. Since I am doing the 30 day free trial of amazon/kindel library, I am dropping everything and reading HP and the Chamber of Secrets, just because I can and just because I need to hide in Hogwarts as the little people seem to find me no matter where I hide!!
  11. Cloudy. I think God put a sleeping potion in the clouds, yawn..
  12. Just started this yesterday. So far so good! Silkworm was definitely in the high end of my "weird-o-meter" radar but I couldn't put it down.
  13. I signed up for the Amazon kindle library 30 day trail!

I have been wearing my alpaca wool socks and my possum socks. My feet definitely feel autumnal!

That just sounds so cozy....I feel the need to nap!

  15. Just finished Dust by Martha Grimes. Can't say I was all that impressed. Actually, I was NOT impressed. Still reading Mists of Avalon but I want to start something new, just not sure what yet. Seeing as I'm pretty much house bound with 5 little kids and the weather is changing, I will be able to sit and read for a few minutes at a time throughout the day.
  16. Pretty dreary looking out here. Not quite as cold as it was yesterday but it still looks to be a long sleeve kind of day.
  17. Temps were cool yesterday after the rain. Today, however, it is COLD!! I'D turn the heat in but the light company has to come out and light the furnace. Perfect soup weather. Right now it's 64'Fahrenheit. Looks like I'm going to have to hit the thrift stores to get these little people fitted up for the fall/winter. What's the weather like in your neck of the woods?

  21. The board has been really quiet. Are y'all sleeping off the election celebrations or mourning in your cups?

I don't feel it's been more quiet this week than in previous weeks, but I do think it's quieter than maybe a couple of months ago. If you have any ideas how to make this better, feel free to tell us :).

  22. Chrissy, sounds heavenly! Talisman, can't wait to see the pictures of the blessing! Athena, glad you got to chat with your sister! As for me, I'm home with the little ones. I found a program on through cable called "Tumblebooks." Its pretty cool. The program is an interactive reading app. It takes the books and applies animated action to the stories. The words are highlighted in red so that the kids can "read" along with the narrator. They all seem to love it! Its kind of dreary outside, we woke up with a mild thunderstorm that quickly disappeared. I do hope it dries up enough so that I can take the kids on a quick outing and to let the dogs out. I realize how small my new home is when four children and two huge horse/dogs are confined inside. They're already asking about lunch and its not 11am yet. Ugh. I think I'll put the youngest down for a nap and do some school work with the older two. That is, after my cup of tea. Just pulled out my Yorkshire tea and cant for the life of me remember why I haven't been drinking it, its DELICIOUS!!! For some reason, I've been a bit off on the coffee. I can't seem to drink a full cup. So not natural!
  23. I'm totally clueless about the time difference. I don't know why I thought the UK was at least 10 hours ahead. Lol, back to school for me!
  24. Start back at Barnes and Noble in about 1.5 weeks! I won't get a lot of hours yet but thats okay, it gets me out of the house and I can use the extra cash PLUS its only a few miles from here!!

? You mean the building has shrunk?

  25. Thanks Anna! I'm going to Petsmart on Friday for Kizzy's grooming and I will pick something up. I never realized how inexpensive their grooming was. In our old town, I always tried to use local shops but in a new place, I don't want to make a mistake and get the "groomer from hell," so I decided to give Petsmart a try. They do teeth, ears, anal (eww) nail grinding, bath and dip for only $28.99 (for the pit). I also found out that because we are military and I used the veterinary services aboard Parris Island (Marine Corp base) that her records are in the military data base (just like us, lol!)so I don' t have to hunt around for her records!! Got my boy King set up also! Funny, I never gave it a thought about moving all of our things to a new place but having to update the microchip data base they belong to, set up new vet services and grooming... a whole new set of "to-do's!"
