  1. I'm thinking its the ugly soul of the person who either caused someone to kill them or the ugly soul (more obvious) of the individual who did the crime. Its like the inner ugly actually comes through in their physical appearance.
  2. I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 2014 a few months ago and while I do love it, its tricky to get certain things done. For instance I find that I don't do much by way of typing and making long responses because its so time consuming pecking away. (I ordered the detachable keyboard and its coming tomorrow) but with those, I still have to deal with the tiny keyboard. I've always dreamed about sitting at the park and typing up my novel or responding to comments but its just not happening. I was on another forum (this board) and there was a question about a writing program. I'd love to get one but I'd have to use my laptop because I have not found an effective way to type on my note. How do you make the most of your note/tablet? Do you find you are limited to what you can type? If not, what do you suggest I do to make it more efficient and enjoyable experience?
  3. Funny you mention true love. My hubby and I were watching "A Love Story" last Sunday and when they got to that famous line "love never means saying you're sorry," I had to yell at the tv. That was the most bogus and misleading lie I've heard in a while. Love means many things to many people but in the world that I live in, love absolutely means saying "I'm sorry." It never means its okay to hurt someone because sorry is not part of the vocabulary. Wars have been fought, lives have been lost and abuse has been dealt because of someone's twisted definition of love and God. Its not God and its not love that causes pain, its people who twist it to make it suit their needs. Every time I hear about a stalking case I feel myself wanting to get so physically violent towards the person doing the stalking, its almost scarey. If a person says NO, then it freaking means NO! Holding people hostage, stalking, menacing and threatening harm because a person doesn't feel the same way as you (general) do makes me ill. When I think of Heathcliff, it makes me physically ill. Ugh.
  4. So do you believe she bases the crime around the appearance of the victim/suspect? The uglier the crime, the uglier the person? Interesting concept. I've often thought the uglier the personality the uglier the crime.
  5. I think Heathcliff, the Byronic "hero" could have been forgiven had he shown the slightest bit of remorse. He's presented himself as contemptuous of any kind of love except what he felt. Selfishness personified. He loved being miserable and seems to have taken an erotic pleasure in making others feel the same way. While reading this novel, I found myself wanting to skip over every line he spoke. I can understand his hate for Cathy's brother but what he put those children through...well, I've used my imagination!
  6. Sounds like a great time Chrissy! We're just getting home from the hospital and settled. I plan to watch television and surf the net and of course, READ, for the rest of the day.
  7. CG, what you stated is how we all feel to one extent or another. I think there're point people are making is that based off our personal experience and the things we like or don't like, we chose to read HP. I think what has people on edge about your comments is that you seem to think that you alone have the ability to choose intelligently what constitutes great reading and the rest of us are unable to do so without some entity leading us by th snout. You have to see how insulting that can be. Personally, I don't care about their marketing strategy because if Im going to buy it I will and of I'm not, I won't. I decide what I do or don't do. We all have life experiences. You don't have to like the book but insulting the intelligence of those who do just ain't cool.
  8. It is tiresome but I'm determined to have a decent yard this year! I don't need fancy but simply pleasant and relaxing. Its not for anyone but family and friends anyways. I don't want to spend the hellish summer to come worrying about watering the plants. I want them to be "self-caring!" Long day here. Lots of stuff going on. Can't WAIT to call it a day but I'm still hours away from bedtime.
  9. Uncle Sam (the tax man) is a happy man today. Spent hours getting the blasted stuff done, only to owe almost $4k. Loverly.

  11. Hi dtrpath! Hope you're evening is lovely also!
  12. I do love how Sundays have naps automatically built into the day.

  13. Just finished M. C. Beaton's Death of a Macho Man and am starting on Elizabeth George's Playing for Ashes while also reading Middlemarch. Yeah, I'm all over the place.
  14. We do have some really good soil. Most times I can just drop it, water it and go. I see lots of fancy homes that can't seem to realize that whats prettiest is left on its own. I just don't care for overly manicured gardens. Rainy day here, went to church this morning and came home and fixed dinner and eaten it. Now its dvd's and tea until I start snoring!
  15. Welcome to the groud DJV! I can tell we're already going to get along we may be soul mates. I can read, watch and listen to HP all day!
  16. Welcome to the group Alanna! I am often remiss in saying my "hellos" so please forgive me. This is a great place. Hope you enjoy it. I know what you mean about the obsession thing. I'm currently on a Monarch of the Glen, The Librarian and Father Ted bender. All episodes, back to back. Hubby also has me watching Once a Upon. We are addicted!
  17. I got lots of plants in the ground yesterday and spent the evening racking. Ugh. But it was worth it! I picked up some azalea roots from a friend today. I'll be planting those on Monday. We're supposed to get lots of rain tonight and tomorrow which will make the ground soft enough to dig. Did a bit of volunteering for one of our local charter schools. Nice way to spend a few hours. Now I'm finally watching The Hobbit!
  18. That is my morning look. All that's missing is the dragon breath!
  19. Awww, Shall we all have and drink a toast to all the beauty in the world?!
  20. I started this a year ago and got distracted and put it down. Decided to get a jump start on my summer reading by finishing up the book. Can you imagine anyone more annoying than Doo Doo?! Ugh. Can you smack someone through a book?
  21. Eleonora, I think you've let too many people determine who you are. Now I'm going to be another person but for positivity. You are beautiful. Its truly okay to accept yourself as beautiful. I know what I'm talking about. I got teased about the size of my nose for so long that I thought I'd get it fixed at the first opportunity. When it came I thought, "what the hell am I THINKING?!" God gave me this nose and this is the nose I'm going to be buried with, everyone else, be damned. It gives me character and makes me interesting and as a bonus, with a honker THIS size, I can smell danger for miles off!! Course that means I can smell the nasty stuff also, but hey, we all have our burdens to bear! As we like to say around my part of the world "do you Boo!"
  22. That's right, you guys are under storm watches. Be safe! Nothing but beautiful weather here. Just put in a few annuals with the grands and now I'm about to pick up the pooch from her day at the "spa," then head back home for afternoon naps. I think we ALLLLL need them!
  23. Ah yes, we are, after all, humans (in my Sheldon voice)!! When we can respond like Dr. Spock things will be far more civilized but a lot less interesting.
  24. Seems like I've got about 3 days a week that are like that. I'm trying to find a happy medium for the summer. Going only when I have to and being more productive at home so i wont HAVE to roam the highways and bi-ways so much!
  25. Intelligent discourse is about exchanging ideas and views. Discourse is not about emotionalism. When emotionalism enters, arguments arise and reason does an Elvis. It leaves the building. pearls of wisdom, Virginia
