  1. I spent an enjoyable 1.5 hours at my university for Spring Visitation Day. Its when incoming freshmen/transfer students get to meet faculty and future classmates pertaining to their chosen major or give them information on the degree programs if they haven't decided. It was really nice being on campus. I miss it. Due to some family issues over the past few months and financial burdens, I was unable to return for my last semester this spring. I am DETERMINED to be back in August! One thing that it did bring home to me is that I feel most at home on a college campus. I want to work at my university and so I plan to do lots of volunteering and clubs to get my face/name out there. Even if I can start at a part time capacity I'll be thrilled. Now I'm home working on my resume and doing some online applications so I can have some kind of summer work. I will work just about anything over the summer just to meet some needed goals. Wish me luck!
  2. There should be a law that requires all film makers who are doing a book to film MUST make the film characters "look" like the book description!!! Anyone ready to get a petition ready?
  3. Me and one odd my grands.Well never mind. I can't post it.
  4. I really hope she finds love. She's loyal and kind and had a big heart. So what if she's a chimney with a cast iron stomach! Lol!!! She deserves a companion.
  5. I DID, at first, but I think she's all too aware that they are strictly oil and water. They will be the best of coworkers and friends but lovers? Ugh, I can't fathom it, lol! He's too stiff, she's too...Havers. Sadly, I think she'll end up with a cat and her memories as a DS. I don't know that George could actually develop a character to suit her particular charms!
  6. The dentist did a great job on my tooth but gawd, I'm feeling the after affects of all that tugging, ugh!

  7. Thanks for the welcomes, frankie, ian, cookie and bobblybear! Glad to be back!
  8. Hey y'all! Spent the morning getting my mouth turned hither and yon. Had a nasty cavity that needed tending. My dentist is wonderful. Didn't feel a thing. But now the Novocain is wearing off and I'm finding that I can pinpoint every twist, turn and yank my mouth was placed. Ugh. Still, glad its done! As its Monday and ugly as the proverbial stepsister outside and my mouth is bothering me, think I'll just call it a day.
  9. I started the Ballykissangel series on Amazon. Funny, I had the prime membership for over a year and never thought to utilize the streaming. . We got rid of direct tv cable and are exploring other options for home entertainment. I might be going the route of the roku box.
  10. It really floored me when I found that she was an American. Who'd-a-thunk-it?! I always feel as though I'm right there with Lynley and Havers because her writing really draws me in and I find that I have to shake myself back to reality when I come to the last page. Hydiyyah is adorable. I was hoping that she would get together with Hadiyyah's dad, but they are both unbending and total opposites in so many ways.
  11. Little W, I love that! ! "Breathing England" songs it up!
  12. I'm watching Hunger Games, Catching Fire. Never saw it before. I wanted to read the book first but ds wanted to watch it (he's read the book) so, I'm watching!
  13. I sometimes think I should have a back up storage unit for my brain. If I don't get it soon, I'm going to be pulling it out of my ear with the tip of a wand.

    1. Athena

      Athena

      Sounds good :).

  14. It is cute, isn't it?! Thank you for the welcome!
  15. Aww thanks! I wish I could be so optimistic! I swear they are everywhere. Its like they all have twins. Instead of 4 kids we have 8 and they are VERY vocal!!! Everything seems to revolve around the mouth and the butt, in one end and out the other and you had best be quick with the wipes, the diapers and the butt cream, thank you very much! But Lord knows they bring us hours of laughs. The hubby and I have tired to hide but ... they keep finding us. So, we just sit in stunned and numbed silence and practice keeping the reflects sharpened. The 2 year old and the one year old shoot for distance and you don't want to be in the way of a flying match box cars and blocks! I'll just hose the house down over the weekend.
  16. My favorite nostalgic book as a child would be The Hobbit. As an adult I actually have several nostalgic books that I constantly pick up and re-read. Funny how I can be minding my own business reading one book and then that book triggers my old favorites, so I have to pick it up and read it again! Its a right wonder I can get through any books! But my favorite go to books are Anna Karenina, Emma, Wives and Daugthers and of course the Harry Potter books! Whats the best way to get that special feeling then by going back to Hogwarts?! I often wonder how I would have turned out had these books been around when I was a child...probably crazier than a one-eyed frog.
  17. Thank you Julie and Althena! Hi there Chrissy! I tried to message you but I couldnt. Its something about the settings I guess. Can you try to message me? I can't wait to catch up with you!
  18. I could only find a few on netflix streaming and a few through their dvd's but was able to get the others from the local libraries.
  19. I do about 3 or 4 at a time since I'm reading my nook from my Samsung Galaxy Note. I love the convience of flipping from book to book without having to constantly pick up and put down the hard copies. Makes shifting from book to book so much easier!
  20. Anna Karenina, Church Folk, and Gone with the Wind.
  21. Spending the majority of the week with my grandchildren (three boys, ages 5, 4, and 2 and the baby girl, 1). Mommy and daddy hav appointments all this week. Unfortunately they drove off with carseats and shoes for the 4 year old. The two screaming demons-in-training are trying to out screech each other. Ugh. The house is deteriorating at an alarming rate as I no longer have th energy to keep it and THEM clean. A cup of coffee would be wonderful but I no longer drink it so...a cuppa it is!
  22. My cold/rainy day staple, LOTR extended editions!
  23. I'm addicted to Elizabeth George. I can't put the books down once I've started and I've watched just about every Inspector Lynley Mystery movie on netflix and dvd. I don't know what it is but I love settling down and getting lost all over England! Anyone else a fan?
