I love both formats. I do use my tablet more tho. I got lots of magazines by doing the free trials Country Living (UK and USA) Britain Victoria Southern Lady LandLove American Scholar Oxford American Lets Travel National Geo Southern Living American History Essence Ebony Country Life BBC History and several others Other magazines I have as printed copies because I can't find them on nook or Kindle. My tablet goes with me most places so it definitely helps keeping the magazines on it for easy reading.

Started my final semester yesterday!! Boy was it a doozy. I'm taking 17th and 18th Century Philosophy. Heavy, HEAVY stuff! I'm reading Descartes, Letter to Sorbonne, Meditation I, II and III before going on to Leviathan by Thomas Hobb. The last reading will be Spinoza's Theological Political Treatise. I'll be spending the weekend plodding through this reading as its totally above my head. The professor gave us print outs so we can answer questions as we read. All exams are essays. Today was my first Biology class. The lecture hall was packed with about 300 students. Its what I call the "bare minimum course." Its usually a class most of us take in order o fill a graduation requirement. The professor, Dr. Dhameja (Dr. D) reminds me of Raj from Big Bang Theory because of his sense of humor. I think I'll like this class. I also have a lab with this course. What I've noticed is that I appear to be the oldest student on a campus full of millennials, lol! I'm older than my professors! Guess I'll get my reading material organized for some serious study time for tomorrow. I honestly don't see me doing too much today. I did some reading this morning so its not like I haven't done any yet.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You deserve it!

I wonder if any of you have come across this little troop. I wish we had something like this around here. https://hedgespoken.wordpress.com/

Noll, I've been on this board a fair amount of years and all I can say is I've seen nothing but growth on how you deal with your anxiety. Seriously. Just wanted to give you a pat on the back for always getting back up when life pushes you down. You're stronger than you think you are. Good luck with the job!! Flip, you have such a wise and calm way about you. I like how you just take it as it comes and deal with what's most important. And you seem to do it with a gentle sense of humor! I'm about to go out and locate my classes. School starts Thursday and as I'm totally unfamiliar with this campus, I need to get out and locate some important places; coffee shops, cafeteria, library, lab...you know, university stuff. Then its back home to putter around and do some writing.

I am just so disgusted with Hope Solo. Just a nassty sore loser. I think it's time to rethink her spot on ANY national soccer team.

Lower tempts today. I got out early this morning to pick up some groceries before training. As I went through the check out the heavens opened. I got a soaking. Its now overcast and a little cooler, not much but a little. Gray throughout the rest of the week I think.

Thanks Athena but all apparently is not lost. I am to log in tomorrow and they are scheduling the retest for later. I'll be on the clock in the am.

I'm getting caught up with Luther. This is not the type of series that you can skip over. You HAVE to know whats going on in the previous episode. I simply love this show!

Just got my library copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child today. I was at Barnes and Noble and had sat down with the book to peruse it and trying to decide whether or not to buy it. I left the store without it and when I got home, I had a notification from my library that the ebook copy that I had placed on hold was available. Guess who's settling in for a read? This Lady right here!

Busy day today. I had to go to my old hometown to pay my tuition. I could have done it from home (1.5 hours away) but I still needed to go to the campus to get my student ID as I'm in still a student at THAT campus even though I'm attending three classes here. Before going to the campus I swung by dd's friends house and picked up her wedding set that was left in her car about 1 year ago. She doesn't expect to get it back. I got the set, took it to the jewelers and had it cleaned and send it special delivery to her home in California. She has no idea that its on its way. I know she was really sad about not having her wedding ring. As for the Apple Adviser training, the exam didn't go so well. I just couldn't get with the trainer. I can re-test but its really no need as my class schedule can't be altered and Apple can't change the way they schedule their shifts. I'll finish school and focus on my career after I graduate.

I read that the first responders dropped him while he was on the gurney. Salt to the wound.

Hey y'all! Almost done with phase one of my apple training. It has not been enjoyable. I liked my classmates but the training leaves a lot to be desired. Too much information with stresses on examination. My trainer is a "director" type. He toss knowledge at the speed of light assuming that we are all familiar with apple products. I came in with a handicap as I had never touched an iOS device. I had to learn how to maneuver on a mac while learning Blackboard AND apple products while other techs were already iOS owners. I took a few calls today and I did really well. I do so much better when I don't have a little Hitler rushing me. I can have more control over my calls and my customers have been satisfied.

I decided to purchase the audio from Amazon.com. I'm doing the 30 free trial on Audible. I can play it anywhere. I have the books just never sat down to read them so this might help get my feet wet on the series. I haven't seen the show because I wanted to do the book first, almost gave in last month when the dvd was made available through my library.

Thanks Athena. Five more days of Apple training before going to RAMP, which means we go into another level of training. We did live calls yesterday. I was nervous but I think I did pretty okay. Pretty much same old thing. Get up, take vitamins, drink water, shower, etc...then sit at the computer. Funny how sitting still all day makes me feel like I have been walking all day.

Overcast with 50% chance of rain. I put all the indoor plants outside in the hopes of them getting some great natural rainwater. Still going to be really hot this afternoon.

That's really interesting Flip! We have to pay for our course in order to get insurance reductions. Not much in comparison to your rate jump of almost $100 a month. We had lots of storms last night. My blasted phone went off all night, until the wee hours of the morning, when I figured out how to shut the dang thing off. Its part of the messaging app. I mean this thing was a siren! As my tv was on all night I didn't need it on anyway because of our Emergency Broadcasting System that announces emergencies in the area. Bright red streaming on the top of the screen with a loud siren of its own. Glad for it but, what a racket! I'm not going into week three of my training. Can't say that this is my favorite gig. Its not that its HARD but the threat of a final exam over our heads at the end of training doesn't help. No pass, no continued employment. I may have to let it go in a couple of weeks anyway. I just got notification that my university biology class has been cancelled. This means that I have to take the class in another time slot. The only slots available are during working hours and Apple has set schedules. If I have to quit I want to do it on extremely good terms so that I can come back in December after I graduate. School is of the up most importance. I've been out for a few years because of family issues. I'm coming back as a transient student. I will graduate from my original university location but take the remaining two classes and lab in my new city. Its the same school just different locations. The thing is, if I don't graduate NOW (after my adviser did some arm twisting and pleading on my behalf) I will have to take 4-6 addition classes because the university changed the graduation requirements. I simply cannot afford to do it. I have no more financial aid available and the school has raised its tuition. Its now or never. Got my giant water mug, fruits and carrots ready for the day, the dog has been let out, hubby is sleeping and I am now ready to start my work week. Harry Potter will be playing in the background and all is well. Have a great day y'all!

After a night of storms and local flooding, I awoke to lovely cool temps of 78 degrees and cloudy skies. It will more than likely be overcast today but little chance of rain. I did all my errands yesterday so I don't have to rush out before I start work or during lunch. I may actually sit on the patio with Kizzy!

I know what you mean. Its like I read the murder scenes and wonder... BUT I just read Dorchester Tower and found it a good read so I'll read more.

We have them here in the States also. We use them in order to lower our insurance after getting a ticket. Yesterday and today are my off days. Hubby and I went to the outdoor "swapmeet" or what you might call farmers market expect this is a combination of everything under the sun being sold in an outdoor market. We then went to find him some decent workboots as he's worn the heels down on his other pair. They cost too much to toss so I'm having them resoled but he needed another pair to get him through til his regular pair get replaced. Also picked up more things for the grands to send out in the next two weeks. Two household, seven grands...lots of stuff, lots of shipping fees. Today I had to go in early for my mammogram and MRI for my left ankle. So glad that's over, now I just have to wait to get the results. One more exam and I'm all caught up on my physical. My doctor said considering I hadn't been seen in over two years, I'm remarkably healthy. I do have to watch my diet though because my family background has diabetes and hypertension running rampid. I'm what would be considered borderline if I don't better watch what I eat. After doing all my errands for the week, I guess I'm ready to hunker down and get my bottom glued to my desk tomorrow. I'm just about finished putting my office back in order and finishing up with those things that sit on your desk begging for your attention when you have the least amount of time to do them. I find that if they sit on my desk when I need to be focusing on my Apple IT class, I get distracted. Hopefully this will help.

Its hard to believe the conditions the athletes are living in at the Village. I cant even begin to imagine. And the river, UGH! I plan to watch the gymnastics as well, along with maybe football and some track and field as well. I don't know, it just doesn't seem organized or even exciting. I hate it for those Olympians because they've trained so hard for this moment only to feel like everything else is overshadowing it.
-
I haven't seen anyone talking about the Olympics on the board yet. Is there no excitement about it? Who's watching it?

Pound cake can be very "heavy" based on the ingredients. In my recipe, I use 4 cups sugar and two sticks of butter with coconut milk. Super delicious but not for the diabetic and reserved for special occasions and holidays. It holds cream and fruit and ice cream really well, no sogginess or mushiness. The recipes for pound cake are so numerous that it's rare to come across one that tastes bad, lol!

I signed up for the better learning class. I now need to find time to actually do it.

Same heat, different day.
