Garcia24 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Did anyone have a bet on Leicester at the start of the season? Quote
Brian. Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 Did anyone have a bet on Leicester at the start of the season? I wish. The odds of them winning the league at the start of the season were something in the region of 5000/1. There was a story on the internet recently about a man who had a bet for them to be top of the league at Christmas who pocketed £10,000. I really hope they win the league this year, it's just the kind of kick in the pants the premier league needs. Quote

I really hope they win the league this year, it's just the kind of kick in the pants the premier league needs. Me too. Bookies are offering a cash out of £3,000 to a bloke who stands to win £25,000 on a £5.00 (little drunken) flutter. He's sticking it out. Remember Gary Linekar showing the table twice when they were top after 2 or 3 games because he didn't think he'd see it again. Hope they do it, not been a great season, some very poor games. As you said, a good kick in the pants for the 'glamour clubs'. Quote
woolf woolf Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 (edited) It's nice that Leicester are doing well and it would be nice if they win the premier league, but I think too much is being made of it. It's one of the world's richest clubs, with an established manager, good proven players and a project with the goal to enter in the Champions League. Their good performance doesn't prove money isn't everything in football, it proves that with enough money any well-run club can challenge for a major title. What I like most about it is that they kept players like Wes Morgan and Jamie Vardy, who have proven their talent when otherwise they might have never been in the elite. Inver Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Yes....my home team Raith Rovers scuppered Rangers making sure of the league today, by getting draw in the last minute. They will have to wait to try elsewhere now for a win. Quote
Inver Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 All I'm going to say it that the Euro's have been interesting...!!!! Quote
Madeleine Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Oh well I'm out of the office sweepstake, I had England (not that bothered actually, about what I expected!) Quote
Lumo Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Way to go Wales... Yes, that was incredible. A great match (and I don't normally like football) Quote
itsmeagain Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 All I'm going to say it that the Euro's have been interesting...!!!! LOL.Sadly Hart added to a long back catalogue of keeper howlers. Wales to win it I hope...dare I believe? Quote
Flip Martian Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 The Euros were entertaining but I'm very glad the footy season has started again. Although maybe my team (Liverpool) playing Arsenal on tv wasn't the best match to have on Sky...a few weeks after I cancelled my Sky Sports subscription. Quote
woolf woolf Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 I'm still overwhelmed about last night's Barcelona win, it was outstanding. Those players showed immense character and never gave up when everyone would understand it. Has anyone else watched the match? Quote
Inver Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 One more win Scotland..and we are nearly there. Quote
Brian. Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 That Liverpool comeback last night almost killed me, I haven't been that tense in the last 10 minutes of a game for years. Quote
Raven Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 ^ Guessing that will have been two nights running then... Quote
Brian. Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 I don't support Spurs so the nerves were fine but it was another crazy game. I have to admit that I wanted Ajax to win because I don't like finals involving 2 teams in the same league but it should be a great final anyway. Quote
Raven Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 Europe's coming up England!* *That sounds very wrong... Quote
Madeleine Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 So much for Brexit! The irony..... There are a few Spurs fans where I work, so they're happy. Quote
woolf woolf Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 This Haaland guy is like Uthred. Born in England and raised as a viking. Quote
muggle not Posted August 30, 2023 Posted August 30, 2023 (edited) Messi, arguably the World's best (EVER) soccer player, made his U.S. debut Saturday night in NYC. My Granddaughter attended the game and made this video of Messi scoring a goal. The crowd went nuts. (Turn your sound on) Messi.MOV Edited August 30, 2023 by muggle not Quote
