Guest ii Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I realised the same with my knitting, Kell. I can knit and watch TV at the same time, but I can't read and knit. Yet, anyways. *laughs* So it's either being a reader or creating things? I refuse to accept that! Quote
BookJumper Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 So it's either being a reader or creating things? I refuse to accept that! But reading IS creating things... it's creating worlds, adventures, lives, people, ideas and ideals in the mind! Is it not? Quote
Guest ii Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Well, I was referring to something tangible. Quote
Kell Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 At the mopment, the only time I can bring myself to read is when I can't stitch - i.e. in the bath (after everything else is done, e.g. Xander is sleeping and house is looking presentable). Quote
SaraPepparkaka Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Kell, do you manage to read while feeding Xander? I did that a lot.. I don't remember how old Xander is now, but when I was breastfeeding and bottlefeeding it was OK, but when we got to carrot pur Quote
bethany725 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Well, I was referring to something tangible. Why don't you create some cookies then, since you (not the harem) ate them all? That would help MY mojo, I bet... Quote
Guest ii Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Why don't you create some cookies then, since you (not the harem) ate them all? That would help MY mojo, I bet... You just want to see my frilly apron again, don't you?? Fine. Triple chocolate okay? *hands over a chocolate martini to Beth, to help with the wait* Quote
bethany725 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Thank you. I am perfectly happy again. My mojo is most definitely in place, btw... I've read an average of 1 book every 3 days since being in Singapore. If anyone needs ideas for how to get your mojo back, try living in a foreign country where you don't know anyone, your husband works long hours, you have a pool and huge bathtub at your disposal everyday, and your best friend is the English-speaking bookseller in the secondhand book shop. It does amazing things for lost mojo. Quote

bethany725 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Great plan! How did I not think of it?? I'll join you in a few minutes, just a few minor details to take care of... Haha.. that was really funny! I liked it You're easy.Erm... does one have to have a husband? Yes.. It's the simple things that make me happy. But triple chocolate cookies AND a chocolate martini? That's good enough for most people! And no.. one doesn't HAVE to have a husband.. just a trust fund, I guess, is the only other option. Quote
Chimera Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Erm... does one have to have a husband? And no.. one doesn't HAVE to have a husband.. just a trust fund, I guess, is the only other option. Or parents living in the faraway place? Might that work? *looks doubtful* Quote
Guest ii Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Haha.. that was really funny! I liked it I have to give it to Chimmy, she has her moments. *laughs* Nah, I adore her, really. Yes.. That's good enough for most people! *hands over some cookies, then* And no.. one doesn't HAVE to have a husband.. just a trust fund, I guess, is the only other option. See? Now that's more like it! Much better, thank you. Btw, you've got mail. Quote
Guest ii Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Or parents living in the faraway place? Might that work? *looks doubtful* Yes, that could work. Especially if they still buy into that "i'm small and helpless" -act. Oh, sorry, that's for men. My mistake. Quote
bethany725 Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Or parents living in the faraway place? Might that work? *looks doubtful* I'd say that could work.. As long as they're not old enough to be in danger of kicking off and leaving you without a mortgage payments, pool, bathtub, job, or ability to speak to anyone outside of the English-speaking bookseller. Yes, that could work. Especially if they still buy into that "i'm small and helpless" -act. Oh, sorry, that's for men. My mistake. I prefer the "I had a job.. In fact, I made more money than you did before you graduated from business school. And I left it so we could take this job we wanted for you. Now move to the left or right.. You're blocking my sun and dripping water on me' method." Quote

Let's not get in over our heads shall we? *cracks up* Yes, that could work. Especially if they still buy into that "i'm small and helpless" -act. Oh, sorry, that's for men. My mistake. *laughs* Actually I'm sure it would work, or more along the lines of "your the one's who upped and left and rented the family home out!", you know, the whole guilt trip But I'm not sure peaceful, lounging, reading days would be guaranteed once there. *sigh* Quote

Guest ii Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Oookay. Let's not get in over our heads shall we? *cracks up* fine. I might be able to tolerate you. If I'm in a good mood and heavily medicated. Better? *laughs* *laughs* Actually I'm sure it would work, or more along the lines of "your the one's who upped and left and rented the family home out!", you know, the whole guilt trip Ah! The good ol' Guilt Trip! I've used that myself several times. I even have a pretty good one in the "you dragged me away from my home to live in a city I've never lived in before while my world was still in pieces" -routine. I get almost anything out of DD if I play that one right. Except a plane. A plane takes a PowerPoint presentation. But I'm not sure peaceful, lounging, reading days would be guaranteed once there. *sigh* Not your family's style? You could come hang out with me and Beth at BF's summer place! We're turning chopping wood into a spectator sport. Quote

Oh, yes, come! We're having music, refreshments, magazines, and binoculars. My husband will be working so I'm going to play with those who don't have traditional day jobs. Nice! But just wait for the payback once you return to the states... Actually, are you planning on starting work again immediately? I joke around.. but yes, I will be going STRAIGHT back to work. I may even do some work in HK after my mom's visit is over, since the gov't sponsors spouses to work there. I started volunteering as quickly as possible in India, as I missed work a lot. I'm enjoying this sunny hiatus vacation thing I have going on in Singapore, but I really do like work and I'll go back as soon as I feel like I want to, or when I get back to the States.. whichever comes first. We have to eat something, to keep the alcohol from getting to our heads too quickly. Goodie, sounds like you've got everything under control. What sort of work would you do in HK? It's great that you have the possibility, yet no obligation... So you can just get back to it when you want. The added bonus being you'll appreciate the leisure time even more by comparison! *grin* That's the Exel-file. *cracks up* Speaking of champagne, I just reserved a limited-edition bottle of Dom P Edited April 27, 2009 by Chimera Quote
